Warning! If you plan on buying the switch version, there is no actual physical version. The "physical" version only has a download code in box, so if you plan on buying this as a Christmas present just know that.
Won't buy it just because of that unless it's like 3 bucks on the eshop
A real physical version of the game is coming out around December 7th

They would probably call it Nintendo Smash Ultimate Melee Brawl or some silly name like that. Would be cool, too, if they have guest characters as a callback to gaming history like Sonic, Pac-Man, Mega Man, Square Enix characters, and other fighting game characters.

This is the first video on this game I've seen that isn't sponsored. If only they'd put as much effort into allowing the game time to be finished before release as much as they are in the marketing.
Switch is two generations of consoles apart from PS5. MK1 looks good on Switch?
It's telling how most every review of both of these games has been sponsored and thus, bought and paid for (case in point, IGN's review). Good for Nintendo Life to be honest and fair about this.
@@paulc7914 I've seen it played on all platforms. It may not have as glaring performance issues on better hardware but it still looks unfinished on all platforms.
@@paulc7914 i have no issue with the fact that the Switch is comparable in power to the Xbox 360 and PS3 generation, which still has some impressive graphics so I seem this as a compliment to the Switch, as the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii were the last great period in gaming and apart from the Switch, I don’t care that much for this era outside of the Nintendo Switch generation.
Blame Nickelodeon and Viacom for that. They did the same thing with the first game, pressuring the people working on it to release it much sooner than they were ready to, without the polish and features they wanted to add before release

Every single review ive seen of this game has been a paid promotion. Glad to see and actual review that goes over its flaws and strengths without feeling like I'm being sold something

I've been having some of the most fun I've ever had in a platform fighter while playing in the competitive grinders discord.
I got the PS5 but I knew the Switch version was going to suffer. The devs are working on it best they can, so I hope Switch owners can get the same experience at some point.

I'm really frustrated it's MK 1 all over. and this one didn't have an excuse not to be the same!
I have over a hundred hours into MK1 on Switch and they fixed a bunch bugs, its not perfect but I'm having fun, there's no cut content like people assumed. That game is a higher budget fighter, All Star Brawl 2 is barely Melee levels of budget and it's somehow not in a cartridge and has bugs. That's just weird to me.
This is one of those times where I feel bad that NINTENDO Life had to review this game. Apparently every other version of the game is a fair bit better.
This review is mostly fair but I think calling it less distinct is a bit unfair. The game puts less of an emphasis on wave dashing for instead replacing that with a slime meter. You still lose balance when hit on the ledge. You can still easily combo together moves, you still have light attacks and heavy attacks, it’s still got more than enough to differentiate it below just a surface level understanding imo
IGN gave it a 9 but my guess is they didn't play the switch version.
The upbeat music right as the 5/10 comes on screen was amazing
This really sucks bc I was planning to buy this on my switch lite. I have a better experience playing handheld games so I’d rather use the switch, can anyone tell me if there’s been a patch or they fixed the performance issues?

I‘d prefer to play it on Switch, but the performance is honestly kinda inexcusable. So it’s either the Steam-Version, or waiting for an Update for the Switch version (I‘m not holding my hopes up).
I can't wait for the next nintendo console where we can live the multiplatform performance issue cycle all over again!

Most of the time it’s not the fault of the Switch hardware, it’s the lazy developers that don’t bother to take the time to optimise their games for the Switch hardware plus Smash Bros Ultimate is proof that the Switch can run games at 60fps with a lot of stuff happening on screen.
If Smash Bros Ult can run at 60fps while having 8 players fight with items on and still look great then it's not the Switch that has a problem.
Have their been any games (Switch or otherwise) that launched at 30fps and were later patched to 60? Not mods but full, official patches where the developer didn't have time to get it optimized prior to launch but later did?
You have one of the best comment and it has no reply which is unfortunate. I would like to know the same if a developper is capable to go from 30 to 60 via updates, that would greatly affect my decision on where I get the game!
If I had a nickel for every fighting game Switch port this year that was terrible and unoptimized, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t much, but it’s weird it happens twice. Especially for a game like this, which isn’t all that demanding or visually stunning at all, since at least MK1 has the excuse of the devs somehow having to downgrade a PS5/XSX game for Switch.
I did purchase it on Switch...and I will admit, I was disappointed that the loading times were atrocious, I thought my Switch had frozen. I might purchase it a second time on PS4, but I'll wait and see first
the devs have said they will look into the long loads times on switch and plan to improve it with an update, no word on a 60FPS bump to switch tho yet

@@jackomon1129 the PS4 and Xbox 1 versions are 30FPS too so you might just have to wait till they do a 60FPS patch if the game being 30fps on previous Gen consoles bothers you any
I'm planning to get it for the Switch but I'm not gonna play it that much until they patch it with the fast load screen and better graphics making like PS5 and Xbox One and also Xbox Series X.
the switch is basically a ps3 so its hard to omptimize a PS5/XSX game into a switch game
All star blur 2, that resolution hurts
I can only hope for 60fps and character quality upgrades in the new patch

When I first started it, I couldn't believe my eyes. But I played the first one on the PS4 so I guess I didn't know what I was in for. I mean good Lord... Smash Brothers looks 10 times better than this game

It was done by an Indy studio so optimizing for switch wasn't really in the cards as far as development goes. There are clearly still other issues that they could have fixed though

Switch version was always going to be bad. Games made for next gen consoles will never run well on a handheld. The swtch already has aplatform brawler

Nice to hear it's a fun game, but it needs to run better for me to buy it. Don't have much faith in this game getting patched though. It's Gamemill we're talking about in the end of the day.

This is why we need the Switch 2 to be backward compatible with the old system. Games like this that didn't run well on Switch could be made to run much better on its successor, as illustrated by the Xbox One and Xbox Series. Soul Calibur 6 had atrocious access time on the Xbox One, but it's downright tolerable on next gen hardware.
WARNING: If you can believe it, this game’s performance is worse than its predecessor’s on switch. If you can help it, buy this game on a different console. I regret my investment :/

even this review isn't illustrating just how BAD nick brawl is on switch. Switch is known for these things, but I've bought over 40 games, and NONE come even close to how shoddy this game is. I would have been okay with a delayed switch release, or even it being on only high-performance consoles. But it's downright dishonest to release the game in this state for 50-80$. I will likely NEVER buy another game from them unless a free patch is released that makes the game playable. I LOVED the first on the switch so the fact its this unoptimized is wild.
The developers have given the Switch a bad reputation for 3rd party ports when it’s way more capable the this and Doom Eternal and Witcher 3 have proven with time, effort snd optimisation the Switch can produce outstanding ports of 3rd games which are adapted with the Switch hardware in mind.
@@Adamtendo_player_1 It is to hope they will do the same, but seeing that it's been 7 months is... I'm not saying that it takes 5 mins, but developers clearly in most of the case don't even try to make their games have the bear minimum of 60 FPS, Sonic Superstar failed to be good but it proven being capable to run at 60 FPS, sure it does have a less crisp look but i'll take performance over ultra HD at anytime given the opportunity. Mario Kart 8 and many more proves being capable to run ultra big as* areas with many moving objects and doesn't have any performance issue. So everything you said here was perfect the only reason the Switch does have some bad reputation it's not because of not being capable, it's because of developers who are not used to develop on it or are being very lazy and cash grab simply.
And when we need updates to fix that, in 90% of the case we do not get them.
Nickelodeon games are shovelware. Wait until it's 80 percent off.

I only have a Switch but I’m not buying this lazy, poor and unpolished port.
Honestly the lack of voice acting is the biggest mess up for these games. That is over half of most of these character's charm.
For what it's worth, this one does have voice acting. They also patched VA into the previous game.
Agreed that the initial lack of it was completely egregious though. Completely turned me off from the original game and by the time they added it, I was long past interested. If you're going to make a product featuring iconic animated characters, securing as much of their original vocal talent as possible should always be a top priority.

There is plenty of good 3rd party games on Switch that run well and far better than this awful and unpolished game, Witcher 3 and Doom Eternal are proof of what is possible on Switch with time, effort and optimisation and I’ll throw in Skyrim too.
