HI FRIENDS!! Sorry this video ended up being so long! (The raw footage was one hour of me talking about pens LOL) Here is some timestamps incase you want to do some skipping around!! Pen #5 - 00:32 Pen #4 - 05:22 Pen #3 - 08:21 Pen #2 - 11:48 Pen #1 - 16:19 Highlight Test - 19:34
i'm a huge fan of the OG pentel energel (0.3 size) for both school notes and bullet journaling, so i'm excited to hear your thoughts on it!! i know you can get the pen body at office depot, and the refills on amazon sell for fairly cheap as well so i'm sure you'll appreciate that aspect. also i love how comprehensive this video was, so thank you for that!
Hi! Did you ever make the haul video? I cant find it, am I just missing something? Nice precise video! I'm going to keep these in mind for near future pen shopping.
@@akashnafiz8847 it was, but I honestly still prefer the zebra sarasa clip. I also tried the zebra sarasa grand and that pen is my new favorite (a bit more expensive though).
I used to use pentel energel pens in my bullet journal before I switched over to a leuchtturm, but they are unfortunately a little too ink heavy to use for bullet journaling anymore. I was wondering if you found the energel clena to be ink heavy as well.
Heavy? I'm an old man with arthritis in both hands, but I have one pen I love that weighs four ounces. A quarter of a pound. The arthritis foundation now recommends heavy pens because you don't have to hold them up. You just let the weight of the pen do the work. Or do you mean heavy ink flow? The Energel comes in more than one point size, and the finest is pretty darned fine. Too fine for me. But I use fountain pens 985 of the time. If a fountain pen will write on it, I use a fountain pen. Good fountain pens just write so much better than gel pens that you have to experience it. And you have an immense number of inks to choose from. I don't think anyone knows exactly how many, but one fountain pen business carries more than 750 different colors and shades of ink. I have more than two hundred and forty-nine different inks in bottles, another ninety-two in vials, and I don't know how many in cartridges..
For the papermate inkjoy pen, it does take different refills that are not papermate brand, but only the click version. You will not get the same writing experience per say, but I do like the smooth all over grip of the papermate body. Refills that I have seen fit are: 1) Generic TUL gel refills 2) Pilot Sarasa Dry refills Out of those two I prefer the Sarasa dry because it dries much faster and doesn't bleed. Anyways, I do want to try other ink refills maybe the Ohto Ceramic Refill, as it's fairly cheap. Maybe other Zebra Gel refills will work too, some smoother than the Sarasa Dry which does feel scratchy. I like to experiment with pens. I like to hack pens. Sometimes I find a pen has a good refill, but the body doesn't do it for me. For the papermate Inkjoy, it is the opposite: the refill is ok, but I love the pen body. Hence why I started experimenting with other refills.
So, I found a Bic Gelocity rolling around in my pen cabinet and tried it. That's almost a 1 for 1 match for the Papermate Inkjoy Click. Feels just like the original when writing. Probably the best refill and only like $4 or something like that
Let's just appreciate for a moment that this video was uploaded on the first 20th of 2020...yes. I'm curious to know your thoughts on the Pentel Energel X. I've only ever used it in red (for grading papers), but it's super smooth and juicy. :) A comparable pen is the Pentel Oh Gel, which looks waay pricier than it actually is. EDIT: There is now a Micron with a plastic nib (only size 04): Sakura Micron PN. I've tried it and it's really nice! A bit different writing texture, but otherwise the same pen. Other than that, I'm really sad that the muji pens don't do it for you, they're my absolute favorite pen since discovering them over a year ago. They're cheap (with cheap refills), comfortable grip, well balanced for long writing stints, about the LEAST gaudy thing ever, with the smoothest ink I've ever had the pleasure of writing with. I haven't really noticed any smearing (with 0.38 size), but I don't highlight over things. I use one pen (muji gel capped) and one pencil (pentel geargraph 500) for all my note-taking and bullet journaling.
I think you mean "Graphgear", not "Geargraph". That's a good drafting pencil. I have all the Graphgear drafting pencils, and they're worth every penny. I had to use drafting pencils professionally for a lot of year, and I liked Pentel pencils better than any of the really expensive pencils the company wanted me to use. I slipped a pencil grip on the Pentel 200 series drafting pencils, and used them for years. I still have a set that's almost forty years old, but they all still work perfectly, even after half a million words, and miles and miles of lines have been put on each one. So far, the Graph gear pencils have been holding up just as well.
im a leftie and i use most of these pens. They smudge quite a bit when im going over my paper really fast. i use the papermate joy a lot and sarasa so... alot of pens smudges i dont really care anymore...
Pilot gtec cons are 1. Slow to dry 2. Inconsistent ink 3. Once you drop it won't write. The refill cost 1.02 usd. Muji pens is a nice pen but it kinda not good to pair with any of my highlighters.
I'm not sure exactly! I'm planning on taking a long break to prepare new listings and take a break in general. If you're interested in any sheets you can either join the bundle of berries tier on patreon or you can DM me on Instagram and let me know which ones you wanted!
the energel pen you listed in the description box had a 0.3 tip but in the video you said you were using a 0.4 tip. just wondering what tip size you were using in the video! :) loved the video btw!
Two to three dollars is expensive? I'm a fountain pen person. My number five pen for last year, and so far for this year, cost just about five dollars. It's a Pilot Petit1. I love it because it's a pocket pen that I can drop in any pocket I have and take anywhere. It has a fine steel nib, and writes very well. This is the first time a pen under twenty-five dollars has made the cut. The number four pen is a Platinum 3776 that cost one hundred and twenty-four dollars. It has a fourteen carrot soft gold nib. This is my take with me, do anything with pen that writes, very, very well, but is still cheap enough to lose or have stolen without breaking my heart, or my bank account. I can always get another 3776.. Jump to number one. My number one pen right now is a Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze Age. It cost six hundred and five dollars. This is not my most expensive pen by a good chunk of money, and it isn't even considered terribly expensive in the fountain pen world. It really isn't even close to midrange. Namiki Maki-e and Chinkin pens are expensive by almost anyone's evaluation. . Maki-e pens are coated with urushi lacquer and painted by artists who may study for decades before being allowed to paint a pen. Chinkin pens are engraved. As of right now, only three people in all of Japan can do engraving at this level. They run from four thousand to fifteen thousand dollars. Be happy you can get a pen you love for three dollars.

Thank you!! And ah that's so great to hear! I'm excited to try it out. I'm hoping it's just like the energel clena
Is it weird that it hurts to see the muji ink getting the highlighter tip dirty? 😭
IT REALLY DOES! I had to scribble my highlighter on some blank paper to try and clean it up
maryberrystudio sameeZ!!!
I love the papermate inkjoy gel pens are my favourite I'm litterally asking for a pack for my birthday
Thanks for this video! This was one of the best pen reviews I’ve watched.
Hi! Did you ever make the haul video? I cant find it, am I just missing something? Nice precise video! I'm going to keep these in mind for near future pen shopping.
Thanks for the pen tips!! You are so cute and fun to watch, can’t wait to see more of your videos 👌🏽👌🏽
The papermate inkjoy pen is my baby too 🥺❤️🖊
Clena has regular EnerGel ink in it. I love them. LOVE.
I'm in love with the zebra sarasa push clip gel pens at the moment but I'll be ordering the #2&3 to try them out :)
Was the number 2 pen good?
@@akashnafiz8847 it was, but I honestly still prefer the zebra sarasa clip. I also tried the zebra sarasa grand and that pen is my new favorite (a bit more expensive though).

The energel clena in 0.4 wasn't too inky at all in my opinion! The ink deposited really nicely, it was never too much!

When do you post the February setup?💗I love your Videos!
I should be filming it tomorrow! My goal is to have it up by Saturday!!
maryberrystudio Oh thank you soo much!💗

I love the gtec pens before but they’re so sensitive. I dropped mine once and the ink deposit became inconsistent.

Have you tried writing using these pens with your left hand
im a leftie and i use most of these pens. They smudge quite a bit when im going over my paper really fast. i use the papermate joy a lot and sarasa so... alot of pens smudges i dont really care anymore...
005 is .2 for Pigma Micron, I find the tip didn't last as well as the Faber Castell
My favorite pen is the pilot juice 0.38!! I swear by it
im so excited to try that one out!! It is in my shopping cart LOL

When will your etsy sticker shop be open again? :D

Hello, we've got inkjoy refills here in the Philippines!! :D
No way really! I can't find them in the US or online! I'm not even sure how to take apart the pen either 😂
Yes!! It was less than a dollar for the price. You can unscrew it from the bottom part of the pen like the tip of the comtaimer itself. :D
4:34 that usually happens if it falls
What is the gsm for your moleskin? Do you have ghosting or bleeding issues if you do bigger strokes of red, navy blue, purple, black, etc?
The clean pen is a good price for $3
Love your videos so much ♥
love you so much 😭
Walmart and Target sell Energels, not the type you have, but they do have them, but sadly no refills, have to get those online.
Off-topic, we are totally wearing the same nail polish right now. Cute!
Ahh! This is one of my favorite nail polish colors!
Great video..... I think I’ll stick to my pilot g2 tho.... I’m such a creature of habit :)
the energel pen you listed in the description box had a 0.3 tip but in the video you said you were using a 0.4 tip. just wondering what tip size you were using in the video! :) loved the video btw!
Really appreciate the review
pretty pens
I have pilot G-2 07 and it sucks
No it doesn't. That's one of the best gel pens made. But go up to a bold. Nothing writes smoother than a G2 bold.
I have no problem obtaining Clenas from Jet Pens. Sadly for my wallet... ;)
