For me, the fitness tracking + battery life is the win for me. I was looking at a refurb Galaxy Watch 4 at about the same price as a GTR 3 until I saw that Samsung says 40 hours of battery life and users can see less than 24. The two things I use my GTR 2e most for are as my morning alarm and my afternoon workout. I can't be taking off my watch every night to charge, or having it die in the middle of a workout or bike ride. The Amazfit Bip was my first smart watch, my GTR 2e the second (just cracked the screen, hence the search for a new one), and I love having to think about battery life once a week at most!
Some pretty solid points in this review, but would've loved to see some in-depth testing of the fitness tracking of this watch, especially the heart rate and the GPS accuracy
Largely the accuracy and health capabilities are similar to that with the other Amazfit lineup… which I’ve spoken about extensively in the past. Will try and do an update with this in if Amazfit change anything moving forward though 👍
What really drew me to these watches was the price point and the battery life. I don't see a need to upgrade from the 2e, since the price went up and not really new features.
Bro u nailed it to totally rocked and u total all this pin points and same what I was experiencing and expecting what a great sales revealment of amazfit wow there u a subscriber and like and a comment bro u are a real detailed reviewer and please add points like what kind of glass protection is being provided , coating, etc thanks bro helps alot
Hi Stu, thanks for another great review. I think the thing that sold me on the original gtr was the battery life over other watches, how does the gtr3 compare? With a lot of smart watches standard use I know would have to charge every few days but amazfit last a couple of weeks, that for me is big. I do agree on the price issue though, they had a real niche which they will now lose.
Battery life is still pretty good. 21 days with limited features running. Problem is - if you want all the features running now, such as constant heart rate, animated watch face, always on display etc etc, it’ll easily take it to under a week of battery.
Thank you for this review, very helpful indeed. Could you tell me if it's possible to turn the Bluetooth off on the watch itself? It is important for me and I know the GTR 3 Pro hast a switch for this, but don't know about the non-pro version
well on gtr3 you are getting bigger better screen, better tracking, better chip, new os and so, trading it to features from gtr2 u probably wont even use, and if you want it all you pay premium. i think its fair. my self i prefer better screen and design over music library or loudspeaker
Thanks man. In my country, I can buy GTR2 for 600zł or GTR3 from Ali for sth about 750, and I was confused which one should I buy. Now I know, that I should buy GTR2 asap. Thank you a lot.
Like your video. Question I want to ask. I am a first time getting a smartwatch. I'm considering getting the Amazfit GTR3 or GTR3pro. Purpose is for normal casual and indoor workout used. to monitor my heart-rate Which should I go for ?
I just ordered it on sale on their site. I think I am going to love it from what you said and reading about it. Compared to the really cheap HayLou RT2 watch I just had.
You are on point about the price. At that price, it will be difficult to compete against the new Samsung Watch 4, Fossil Gen 6 or the TicWatch. If this watch fails it will be on account of its price.
No one should expect a wide app support on non-wearOS watches. That is the main trade-off if you jump out of flexibility for the sake of extended battery life. But,notification interaction could be better by at least showing icons and allow quick replies. In addition, amazfit should not have gone up so close to apple, samsung or garmin price territory.
Man, this is like watching the BBC explaining the Amazfit GTR 3. I love it, it is so easy on the ear. Anyway, I was wondering the same thing - they never claim that the watch has been upgraded in anything. It is not like they have a better reading, more accuracy stuff - So it is pretty much GTR 2 without "call function". Can you say that?
I totally agree with the review. I also expected a bit more and was a bit disappointed with the updates. They are kind of nice but not enough for me. I've started considering moving back to Fitbit. Charge 5 looks pretty nice 🙂
Or maybe I'll wait a ilbit with Amazfit and see what else they will release with probably one more update or a new device. I love PAI system the most. But let's be honest, tracking on GTR2 is not super accurate (neither is on any other devices from other manufactures I've owned) BUT taking in mind the increased prices... 🚫 let's see how it goes
My wife has a Fossil Gen 5 and wants something with better battery life and good fitness tracking for running/spinning bike. The deal for $179USD now includes a pair of Amazfit Powerbuds for free $79USD value. With this deal, do you think it would be worth it? Especially that I could sell her old watch for probably $80-$150USD. She doesn't care about apps etc.
A most refreshing review that actually highlights important stuff. As an owner of most Android watches since the begining and currently swapping between Active2 (workhorse/DIY) and Classic4 (office and man about town) I secumbed to Amazon prime day deal on the GT2e and was initially wowed by the price and battery life. But that honeymoon soon wore off, frustrated with the ridiculously small font/text and inconsistent messaging as well as other minor niggles, resulting in it remaining on my desk till I returned it to Amazon. In short the software is unpolished at best and awful at worst. Now the new ones will only last 3 days on full function and the price edges closer to Samsungs, yet the software still has that unfinished feel to it.. I have no reason to believe that anything currently broken or less than ideal with the new watches will be fixed For now, the Samsung Classic will be my goto watch and even on those long weekends when I know the battery will fall short, I will flip over my Galaxy 20 and charge them both with USB C and reverse wireless charging.
never had a chance of owning any smart watch and i really don't see myself needing one but (yes, there's always a but 😅) the smart watch with the blood pressure reading ability you unboxed last month if not mistaken makes me interested on smart watches if only it's not as chunky and huge as it is i would have bought one.
After checking out a lot of reviews abt Gtr 3 and 2e, stumbled upon your review. It is very insightful review and does address few of my dilemmas. Thank you for that. It will help if you may clear some of my doubts. 1) if budget and technology are both equally important which one should I go for? 2E or 3? 2) I really dig the temperature feature on 2E which is missing on 3 but I like the physical button to scroll the menu and the one tap health report in 3. Plus from what I have read, the 3 doesn’t have a compass!!! Is it all because, as you pointed out, we can have a 3rd party app to do that!! If yes, then are there any apps for those two things? 3) Iam getting 2E for 100 USD and 3 for 145 USD. Which one would you go for and why?
Wear os has long been forgotten by Google. At the moment at this price range Amazfit fit is a better choice. Been looking forward to the highly rumoured wear os update and hardware which never came to light.
Thanks for the review, see not point in upgrading the GTR 2 with this one, but what do you think of the GTR 3 Pro as upgrade of the GTR 2. I like the looks op the GTR 3 Pro, having no markings on the bezel.
Is it a contender for the Garmin Vivoactive 4 or Venu? Will it upload to strava or track golf? Those buttons look like they're going to break. Is it well made?
I love amazfit watches. Fantastic build quality and design coupled with a good amount of functionality at a low price. What phone is shown in this video? There's one without a notch or holepunch???
@@StusReviewsUK yes after watching this video it seems they've lost that value factor. Shame. Hopefully the zepp os and app store will improve the functionality thus maybe justifying the price. As you say many other manufacturers offer more for less.
Not my business of course but the GTR 2 has an option to turn the screen upside-down for people who wish to wear it on the right hand. I'm sure GTR3 has it as well but I noticed you wear it with buttons on the "inside"? Isn't that a bit inconfortable when you are operating the buttons?
Not really. For obvious reasons I can’t flip mechanical watches with buttons on the right of the watch, but I’m left handed to wear them on my right wrist. I’ve just gotten used to it 🤷♂️ Also… I’d say operating the buttons with my thumb seems more natural…
So would you suggest buying the GTR3 for $179 or the GTR2e currently on Amazon for $115? Doesn't sound like much was upgraded between these two watch models.
I ordered the gtr 3 and returned it due to the horrible half baked OS , recording 50 steps just by raising my arm and the weather app is terrible silly things like text overlaying other text plus still no NFC and now having to pay £30 for music storage and even then no music service integration. Manager to get an Apple Watch SE for £200 and found it miles apart
I do not care about calls on a watch, as long as my Cleer Enduro ANC will make and take calls and pause music is fine enough through the phone connection. I would not want to talk through a watch anyways, and the battery does not last long with bluetooth calls anyways. This would drop from 21 days usage to 7 or less days with bluetooth calls.
Also, I think people look funny with a phone sitting on a table, and then talk to a watch or walking with phone in pocket and then talking to watch. Just weird and funny looking doing that. I wouldn't want that.
I mean, there’s actually quite a few companies that have run this tactic in the past, and some BIG names… so it’s standard practice, but I agree it’s a bit dodgy and I bloody cant stand that tactic 😂
I have both the original GTR and last year I got the GTR2, however I see no real reason to upgrade this year at all. the big omission for me is a lack of a maps integration both Google maps and OS Maps. Cracking review as always 👌🏻
@@StusReviewsUK Agreed, but I love my Amazfit watches, they were amazing value for money alas that seems not to be the case any longer 🤔 It's the same with the Xiaomi Phones I've not long had the Mi 11 but it was an eye watering £650 ! But it is a fantastic phone with one of the best cameras I've ever used on a phone. And the 120hz screen is so good too 👍🏻
The stress tracking feature is next to useless as it doesn't monitor the stress level through the day as advertised by Amazfit. In fact, it only work when sleeping or sitting still watching TV?!! What's the point if doesnt know that I am stressed at work. Its suposed to alert you if the stress is high!? Mine is always 100% relaxed 🤣🤣 No wonder why since it's not tracking any stress
How can I lock the screen when I don't want to let the screen been changed by the water drops during taking shower? In my GTR2 is a feature to lock the screen (paddle symbol). In GTR3 pro I cannot find it. Do you know is there such functionality?
Terrific review. Can you please recommend tracker/watch besides this that has ecg, bp, blood oxygen and good battery that works well with ios. Does it exist? Thanks for keeping it real!
BP you might struggle for I’m afraid. I briefly tried this, which has an *acual* BP monitor in it and it was alright… not the best software, but sufficient.; www.yhetechs.com/products/bp-doctor-pro-bloodpressure-smartwatch

@@StusReviewsUK Ok thats good, maybe next time you do a review it would be nice to see the interface on both IOS and Android, your review gve me the impression of Android only.
Do these watches track total day calories or just calories bases on your steps and workouts? And how is the watch overall? Is it more sporty or more of a smartwatch?
funny to go out and say it's not what I expected without doing a gps test This watch is not an accessory, it's a sports watch. Those who think that they have opened the box and examined it are making money.
Funny how you *literally* see me using it outside tracking hiking (02:18), but fanboys will always find a way to disagree with an opinion that doesn’t align with their own.
Mine arrived dead on arrival. Was planning to return and get it replaced with the GTS but after checking your review (and also the pretty shocking service i got from Amazfit) I'm planning to get a full refund and look at alternatives
Oh yes loads of workout sessions to track! But we would be only using 10 max of those. Oh yes long lasting battery! Cause it offers so little compared to other companies. I love the design I love the crown I like the watch all-over, but this is not worth more than 120£ max! So yeah will be awaiting black Friday to see if it is worth it
Really wish they had a GTS 3 Pro. I personally think round smart watches are ugly and dumb. I want the features but in a square form factor. It looks like perhaps the big news of the GTx 3 release is that it dropped the price of the GTS 2 by $50 and now I can get it for $129.
@@StusReviewsUK Ive had the Amazfit band 5 since you reviewed it. Its small does what I need. But this one , in the grey, is nicer. Im outside UK so can get for €149 or €199 for the pro. The 1000nits is a great selling point. The Alexa was a clincher for me on the band and seems improved here. We are getting into Samsung Gear territory with the price, but even at that, the Zepp app has been very reliable. Could be an xmas upgrade. Would prefer the GTS3 face tho, however its the same spec as the vanilla GTR. Great review as always Stu.
I have had the fitbit charge 3 for a long time and the display is dieing, been thinking about getting something different. Want same or longer battery Want great health tracking Want to continue to not worry about water Other stuff less focused on The GTR3 or 2/2e have been high on my list. I heard the 3 has newer more accurate sensors so leaning that way. Don't think I need the pro.
Could you read "Fast Asleep" by Dr. Mosley; watch The Quantified Scientist UA-cam; and opine on the accuracy and validity of wearables measurements? Your little one creates a great opportunity to study sleep, or lack thereof. How much sleep do new parents get?

Thanks to your video. Can i record voice memo by gtr3?
You need to review the PRO version but the price is too high
I don't expect an answer since I don't see anyone getting their questions answered

good review based on the facts, however not sure if I like totally copied Jeremy Clarkson presenting style...
Do a comparison of the gtr 3 pro against Samsung latest Galaxy watch
Any news on the T-Rex review 😂
they just made their own OS wear os battery life is too bad
1, cant beat the Amazfit to be honest.
Did you comment this before I even pressed ‘publish’? 👁👄👁… also, watch my video before you say that…
@@StusReviewsUK No just lucky. Was on YT when ya posted.
When you’ve watched it… let me know what you think!
Great review as always Stu.
the pro has a larger screen lol
great stuff
I have had the fitbit charge 3 for a long time and the display is dieing, been thinking about getting something different.
Want same or longer battery
Want great health tracking
Want to continue to not worry about water
Other stuff less focused on
The GTR3 or 2/2e have been high on my list. I heard the 3 has newer more accurate sensors so leaning that way. Don't think I need the pro.
Is it just me or guy sounds alot like Jeremy Clarkson
The closest sounding person to jeremy clarkson... in the world?
@@StusReviewsUK haha! Stu Bro! Your reviews are great and we enjoy listening to you... for the record you sound way better than JC
Could you read "Fast Asleep" by Dr. Mosley; watch The Quantified Scientist UA-cam; and opine on the accuracy and validity of wearables measurements? Your little one creates a great opportunity to study sleep, or lack thereof. How much sleep do new parents get?
Why do We have to look at your damn face than the actual product?
Because I want you to.
Save your $$$ and buy a REAL smartwatch.. Samsung
All the features are available on iOS?
