  • Black and Decker 40v Battery Hedge Trimmer Review. We bought this hedge trimmer on Amazon to combat our overgrown trees and bushes. It's battery powered so supposedly not as strong as a gas one and it's Black and Decker which is a cheaper brand. So I wasn't expecting too much out of it but boy did it prove me wrong! This thing is AWESOME! That's what I think for now anyway. I guess time will tell how durable it is. It cuts small branches like butter, with just one swing. Whenever possible I will definitely be using this Black and Decker Hedge trimmer instead of my Husqvarna chainsaw. It's extremely light too! Overall, very satisfied, highly recommended.

    Just an update a year later :) Still using this little beast and it's still working great!! Just used it for a couple of hours yesterday and battery lasted the whole time. My arms are really sore today. This is a light-weight trimmer too, I think my arms would fall off if it was heavier lol.

      Word of Advice TV how often do you charge the battery. Is it on of those charging ones the way we charge our phones?

      @@Wotsupdoc2 I have only charged it twice so far. It lasts quite a long time. Yes, it comes with a plug in charger for the battery.

      Yea i use gas. Because i know how to fix them but if your nit good with engines i would use battery because a trip to a mechanic can get expensive if you have a $200 tool and mecanics charges by the qutar hour and it usely $ 20 to $30 every fithteen minutes an a thirt minute jobp is already 40 to 50 dollars plus parts it can get expensive

    • @WordofAdviceTV

      For sure, I agree. So far I really love the one I use in the video. I still haven't charged it yet. The battery lasts a long time. But i suppose if you use it for more then just your own yard, a gas one is the way to go. Unless you buy 5 batteries.

    Do i need to push hard to latch on the battery? Bought a brand new from amazon. Charged the battery whole night. When pushed, all three green leds on the battery light up. The trimmer wont start. I am doubting that the battery is not properly latched. I hear a click when I latch the battery but no luck. How hard do I need to push the battery. Any suggetions.

    I would of invested in a chainsaw with multiple bars and blades. it does the job faster and you can cut down the trees you got.

    • @WordofAdviceTV
      @WordofAdviceTV  5 років тому +2

      I got a chainsaw too. But the chainsaw is much heavier then this trimmer. If I used a chainsaw like I use my hedge trimmer, my arms would fall off the next day.

  • @claudb1029

    I assume it is a lithium ion battery. Information is at best confusing. Typically is says how many recharge cycles the battery is good for. First of all, no one can or will count them. The reality unlike nicads you will get more life if you do not run the battery all the way down. The voltage is achieved by strapping cells together. One cell will be weaker than the rest. If, you run it all the way down, the stronger cells will reverse the polarity of the weakest cell and essentially kill the battery. Do not run it all the way down and charge it before storing it. Also, if you are not using it, charge it every month or two.
