Johnny you’re absolutely correct, the grass looks so much shorter on the videos as opposed to reality(what we’re seeing). I hope this hurricane misses you, we just started getting hit with the rains here in north Florida.
Working with a small lot size, there's some tight turns that need to be made. How are you able not to make burn marks in the yard from a rear wheel turning on one spot?
Hola from San Antonio, Texas . Nice edging and I’ve seen that device and I might consider to get one . I was taught several different ways to edge and flat top . My preference is to hold the weed eaters against my chest with the engine on my left hand as I’m right handed . Now since I’ve had multiple back injuries I edge with the head backwards and the engine is on my right hand now . I still own and use Shindaiwa T-27 weed eaters. I’m still not ready to consider Electric lawn maintenance equipment. I’ve been watching Augusta Lawn Care on UA-cam and they have a similar set up as you . They say that their employees get a average pay of around $22 an hour . So that makes me wonder just how much do they pay the crew leader as they typically are running with just 2 guys per truck . We are both grey hair men . I’m used to running hard on lawn maintenance but I’ve been going slower due to age and injuries. In the past I’ve worked from National lawn maintenance companies to regular 1 owner w 3 employees plus the boss also working. I’ve got a 20’ landscaping dual axle trailer and all of the gear for it and then some . For example I also have 2 Shindaiwa Toritos aka the Mexican word for em , they are the dual handles with a heck of strong engine . Those are normally used for when it rains , big slopes or clean ups . How long have ya been in business. Lol what popped up with my question was , heaven vs business. Well , that’s my dos pfennigs for today, PROBST!
I have a small handful of clients in my area who used to live down in Georgia and around yer area Johnny and I've had to use your videos to explain to them the difference between centipede grass and high fescue or perennial rye. They want there grass mowed to 1 or 2 inches and its like no, no, and no, its gonna harm the grass, make the roots weak, and ya grass will be nothing but weeds. Its like arguing with a brick wall.
@@fastsetinthewest nope. Like Johnny I target HOA's and happen to be abit of a perfectionist when it comes to lawncare. I'm one of those "yer getting it done the right way or not by me" companies. I spent years building up and curating my client list before going full time because I knew what type of work I wanted to be doing, and I have zero patience for customers who see their lawn as a chore instead of an asset to improve the value and look if their home. You could offer me x4 my asking price to do a job and I still wont do it if I think it will look like crap at the end.
I accidentally came across your channel. I like watching yard videos. I appreciate your explaining things as many channels don't. Glad to see the long sleeve shirt, gloves, long pants, glasses. But the minute I saw you pull up and cover your face for a mask I subscribed! Every week in someone's comments I write, Please use safety equipment, and wear a mask. PREVENTION!!!! The stories I could tell about of what I've seen in my 40-plus years in Healthcare. Thank you for explaining things, and using safety equipment and wearing a mask👍🏼
I cut my grass once a week for the most part because it makes the grass cutting process much easier because nothing is overgrown. There is no need to bag, and edging is much easier. Who is waiting until the grass looks like in needs to be cut to cut the grass? That is a harder job, just cut it every week.
@sebastiensmarth3479 just remember the mowing seasons ebb and flow, winter things really slow down so it wouldn't be 52 weeks of saving that amount lol
It is wise to stay off adjacent properties because not everyone appreciates our efforts nor do we always appreciate their efforts. 1. The tenant next to one of my customers has a lawn tractor that he drives around the utility boxes into my customers yard and proceeds in a zig zag back to fence, you would think he was drunk and the deck must be dragging the ground cause it's scaped badly and looks awful. 2. My neighbors on both sides of me used to scalp their grass into my yard until I put up barrier on one side. The woman on the other side has her deck dragging the ground again after I've maintained her property for a couple of years for free and have grass growing again even in places that were bare. I've used her property to collect data for time to complete tasks and to experiment with what works. I used to collect wheelbarrows of sand from the gutters (Miami Curb& Gutter) over the years that washed down on me due to scalping and driving on the grass just killing it. I'm done, gonna let her getter done and call the city engineer when the erosion problem starts again.
Hey blades, have you ever used stihl's CF3 Pro line? Its the orange black and blue colored line. If you have, how does it compare to the ballard line you were using in the vid, thanks.
I've used it, and I like the Ballard more. I have a FS91R and the CF3 line makes my trimmer vibrate like crazy, and my hands will be shaking well into the late evening. I hated the CF3 so much I pulled up to a group of kids just starting their business and tossed them the entire coil of it n said "merry chrysler" n drove off.
@@AmandaBAndrews ballard .095 phantom and we just get it on a giant spool. both my helpers are not fans of the quick spool systems, so I just slap a giant roll of it on the rack. before that we used Husqvarna titanium. I liked that string more, less vibration, but we do alot of heavily overgrown city violation cuts for local code enforcement, so the guys like the way the ballard phantom goes through denser weeds.

Amazing, I never thought about using my string trimmer to clean off a patio before after trimming. I will try it, great idea !
Can you do a video on how you transition from weekly to biweekly like how it affects cost and how you just go about the whole thing.
One of my biggest expensive other that labor was fuel, prices would flex due to gas prices, what you are doing is so smart,
Love how quiet that thing is !!!!
Man you make that edging look so easy! Nice job.
Thanks 👍
