    LYRICS
I don't know who to trust, no surprise
Everyone feels so far away from me
Heavy thoughts sift through dust and the lies
Trying not to break, but I'm so tired of this deceit
Every time I try to make myself get back up on my feet
All I ever think about is this
    All the tiring time between
And how trying to put my trust in you
Just takes so much out of me
    Take everything from the inside
    And throw it all away
'Cause I swear for the last time
I won't trust myself with you
    Tension is building inside, steadily
Everyone feels so far away from me
Heavy thoughts forcing their way out of me
Trying not to break, but I'm so tired of this deceit
Every time I try to make myself get back up on my feet
All I ever think about is this
    All the tiring time between
And how trying to put my trust in you
Just takes so much out of me
    Take everything from the inside
    And throw it all away
'Cause I swear for the last time
I won't trust myself with you
I won't waste myself on you
    You
    You
    Waste myself on you
    You
    You
I'll take everything from the inside
    And throw it all away
'Cause I swear for the last time
I won't trust myself with you
    Everything from the inside
And just throw it all away
'Cause I swear for the last time
I won't trust myself with you

Yes lol. A real band who played their own instruments . Chester was my fave singer. And their music makes me cry. But I love them. Maybe one day I won’t cry when I hear them. RIP Chester Bennington. You are missed. 🕯🫶

6:14 my guy, you just got a catharsis feeling right there. Linkin Park never failed to send catharsis to listeners in most of their songs. I'm a fan and still after thousands of times of listening to it I still have this raw feeling of catharsis. It's crazy how it's possible through time, but it's still right there inside me making me for the thousandth time share it with everyone.
Chester was one of a kind. The band is one of a kind... God damn!

Honestly, you could go and do full-album reactions with LInkin Park, just go song by song from beginning to end until you've heard them all, and I will be right here watching every reaction.
This one is from their earlier work, first came out when I was still in high school and it resonated with me as a heartbreak song; getting out of a bad relationship, the kind so screwed up that you come out of it not even sure who YOU are let alone what you saw in that person. Like they screwed you up so badly you don't even recognize yourself any more; you look back over the past however long it was you ere with them and you have no idea who that person is but that is NOT who you use to be. And you reach a point of having to reinvent yourself, reconnect with who you are, and resolving to never get involved with that person ever again. "Take everything from the inside and throw it all away," "I won't trust myself with you," "I won't waste myself on you." Powerful lines evoking some raw emotion that firmly asserts "this is NOT going to happen again."
But, being young and stupid, I went and did it again. And again. And again. Not with the same person, mind you, I just apparently draw that type in.

Linkin Park was basically what millinnials (including myself) listened to in gradeschool and highschool to deal with all the heavy shit that we couldn't express ourselves and used their music as a coping mechanism. I sometimes wonder if Gen Z resonates with their music or at least NU-Metal when it was extremely popular. Hard to imagine that metal and hard rock used to be what was popular music and on the top 100 billboards...now the genre has kind of just disappeared unless you're an old time fan or looking for the music specifically.

Linkin Park to me is a perfect match of rock and rap. They took the best of both of genres and put it together. I've heard them for the first time in 2003, when I was 13. Now I'm 32 and I still think that their first two albums "Meteora" and "Hybrid Theory" is the best thing that alternative rock have ever seen

Yes, Linking Park played all their own instruments. All the effects you hear in their album versions are even present in their live performances because one of them, Joe Hahn, had a DJ setup and plays all the sound and effects himself, even when recording. Outside of Pop, Hiphop, R&B, and Rap, it's VERY rare that a band doesn't play all the instruments featured in their songs. ESPECIALLY in rock music. That applies to the use of autotune and other voice effects used to make a poor or mediocre singer sound slightly better. Reverb or double vocal is the exception. You can hear double vocals a lot in this song, where it sound like 3 Chesters or Mikes are singing. It's kind of seen as a no-no for rock bands to NOT play their own instruments and are usually pushed out by not having a lot of fans.
I recommend to Nobody's Listening. I don't see it on a lot of top lists for Linkin Park, but I think people are sleeping on it hard.

I had the pleasure of seeing him going through his angst in his 20's to a mature man, artist, musician, father and all around great guy in his early 40's. He would have only gotten better with age! One of the best music videos I've ever seen unparalleled. The instruments, the lyrics, the insane vocals and the story of the video all in itself creating that massive shockwave to take back control of the good in us.

I dunno about you, but the part where Chester and the kid scream together, blowing away the riotting crowd, is so chilling and shocking! His scream here, though not as iconic as in Given Up, is also right up there among his best- it's not a long one, but several, extremely loud and powerful ones! Combined with the visual of the music video, it is incredible!

Yes they do. As you grow in all their albums, they made a forced decision to be original. All the journey that their albums took technically and in growth were more diverse than any band I can think of. Chester did one song playing piano and keys and tom tom drums. They are so beautiful and if Angels play instruments; this is what it would be like. BTW shout out to Mike Shinoda..he is a wizard. Go watch the tribute show, to pull off being the MC-band leader and arrangement coach for other acts. It made it so much more emotional. I will never forget that show. Like I have never forgotten Freddie's same type of show.
