Geez how long did this video take to make lol
why did you lie about when you were going to release this video?
horrible, i guess you hate your fans.
I have a question, not sure if there’s a clear answer… but is there some sort of deeper meaning behind the themes of duality in Elden Ring? We meet 2 very similar blind girls, 2 Mohg, 2 Astel, 2 Gurranq, and so on. We meet people with different forms in different locations, usually 2. Ranni seems to have some ghostly other self. Then we have characters with dual identities, and character who take on second names when they are possessed. We meet a pair of brothers, and when one dies, the other takes the mantle. Does this happen to remind us that death is impermanent? And what does that say about certain encounters that break the rules of duality? The 3 fingers as opposed to the 2? The many fingered hands? Even eyes, we meet Characters with one eye and no eyes. There seems to be some law of numbers happening in the background, in addition to laws of colors. And I haven’t seen anyone try to make sense of it yet.

The Kaiden Sellswords are based loosely on the Varangian Guard of the Byzantine Empire, Viking mercenaries who were employed as elite bodyguards for the Emperor and his family. The Viking inspired helmet and fur reference a Nordic ancestry, and the odd combination of lamellar and gambesson looks kind of like Byzantine cataphract armor, which was frequently lamellar during certain periods of the empire.
I was waiting for some experts on armor through history to comment! Thank you so much! That's really interesting to learn more about!
History has some information that varangia guards use to be finland men.
Also when finland was under swedish rule swedish use finland men to win wars and that way swedish men saved that way.
We have also found some quality made swords that none else have.
Swedish has lost these days.Dangerous country in the europe because drugs gangs wars and even mafia style criminals.
It's funny how Elden Ring fictional Vikings are more historically accurate than any ''history'' Viking portrayals.
Yeah I thought the same thing about the Vangarian guard.
I actually wish we had a proper vangarian helmet. A kettle helmet with a mail mask looks gorgeous.
I know it has been 6 months, but I just wanted to add that their helmets look heavily inspired by pre Viking helmets of Vendel period. Look it up on google, they are almost identical desings
I never knew I needed a deep dive video on the flora and fauna of The Lands Between until you brought it up Chalice! I now desperately need to know the lore on the somersaulting goats.
This is true I need it too
Thank you! I'm so glad you are interested by the idea! I will do some cooking :)
This too.
I'm glad Aurelia and Latenna were so high up. Aurelia instantly became my favorite summon. Who wouldn't want an adorable jellyfish friend? She beat Margit for me too. And Latenna was like a partner on my journey who also deleted so meant bosses I was stuck on.
I find she’s quite good in really big boss rooms but in small ones if she gets aggro she will be deleted quickly
I found it tricky to use Latenna effectively against most bosses (though it can be a fun challenge to try to keep her alive) but I love finding a nice, elevated sniping spot for her and clearing groups of tough enemies while she rains death from above. Those mountaintop ruins with all the Ancient Zamor guys were kicking my ass, until I realized a bit of the cliff above was juuuust barely in the summon area. She could pick them off with impunity, I just had to go down, lure them into her kill zone, and then run like hell. Some might call it cheese...I call it "Strategy" :)
Thank you for putting Bok in the video! I was so shocked and had no idea that would be mentioned! That meant so much, thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thank YOU for sharing your story with us, friend. Many hugs to you. ❤
That comment about the guy naming The Ritten Stray Ash the same name as his dog really hit me in heart 😢
Boc making me cry in more ways than one now
Same :( I just love when video games can help us heal from real life
I love the layout you chose to display all the ashes! Really matches the Elden Ring spirit ashes theme. I also really appreciate the time and effort you invested in this video. You gain much info on every single one!
Thank you so much for noticing! I was trying out a couple of designs but am happy you like what I chose! I also enjoyed doing the Message format for all the comments :) Really pleased you liked the video!
I don't think I'll ever be able to get Nephelis ashes.
Over 1 hour of miss Chalice?? You’re too good for us😁
This feels like a love-letter to all our spirit companions throughout the game, and I love all the comments that show why they are so special no matter the ranking.
Lhutel is always my main bud, but I love to bring in other ashes like Latenna and Engvall to mix things up

You're a True Champion ❤
Mimic tear also comes with whatever pots you wear, so for me it was a sleep bomber that helped with the godskins when Delores kept getting herself killed.
Great effort deserves a reward! It isnt much, but it is what i can afford. You are an amazing lore channel! And i want you to grow! All power to you😊 now, ill hope there will be enough interresst in a Loreplay about the Black Knife Assassins.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Your comment and feedback is rewarding enough for me to keep wanting to make better and better content. But your generosity doesn't go unnoticed. Bless your soul. And a Tiche LorePlay would be a dream!!
@@miss_chalice you earned it. Thank you for your reply! Have a wonderful time!👍
As someone who absolutely love Miss Chalice's voice and accuracy to the lore and who cant afford anything I want to say thank you for your donation.
Ogha is magnificent, versatile, powerful, tanky, and most importantly he keeps knocking Malenia over and over , he is my favorite ash by far and i always try to get him as fast as possible, even put some points on FP just to be able to summon him
Wasn't expecting such a wholesome story tied to the rot dog ❤
Who else made it to the last entry and simply died laughing at hearing Chalice read the comments? 😂😂😂
The man serpent! “Slinky” as I call him with a warm heart. I spend everything in the first half of the game preparing to get though volcano manor just to get him.
sorcerer nobleman is easily my favorite. having him get the final hit on elden beast has made my elden ring experience complete
Excellent! Definetly do that flora/fauna video, that sounds pretty interesting!
what I love about the demi-human staff that you touched on briefly is that despite being sneered at for it’s low int requirements, it is actually the best staff upto 41 int at which it is tied with the academy staff.
Aw man I know people like to tease and say ‘mimic cheese’ but my tear really helped me out not just in the basic boss fight ways but others as well. Elden ring was my first ever souls game and mimic tear was my main summon for my first play through. At first I thought it was just really cool to have a clone of myself. But as I kept playing and progressing he went from a cool tool for to battles to a companion that taught me how to better practice self love. Seeing how fearlessly my tear would run into battle to take attention off me, I would have the opportunity to watch him battle enemies, seeing the ways in which he moved and used the weapons I had equip really helped me improve my own technique. My mimic also served as a great motivator for me whenever I felt I wasn’t good enough or getting discouraged from dying (which at times was a lot as I made the wise decision to start my first souls game as a bandit/assassin class lol). Seeing him battle with along side me showed me how much I can improve as long as I believed in myself. Going from staying back and making him weaken enemies for me just so I could come in last mine to pick them off, to running into a battle head on with strategy to defeat a mighty foe together. Even in fights where summons aren’t allowed or my tear dies early on, I never feel like I’m fighting alone, as I will always the confidence in me, myself, and I cause I know my mimic buddy is watching and cheering me on!
I am here representing the Greatshield Soldiers! Surprised to see such few votes for them tbh, but I'm sure everyone who voted thought that too. 😂 This video was well worth the wait, cannot imagine the time it took into even just planning and organising files. Your work here is appreciated. 🙌
I sent the greatshield bro's submission ..they the best
Had a fantastic time journeying with Latenna in my first playthrough. As a melee quality build, having ranged back up was great, and I felt very strategic trying to find Latenna the best sniping spot I could before starting a fight. In addition, she is great at drawing aggro due to her consistent hits, but you have to actively protect her. The push and pull style of combat when fighting with her was unforgettable.
I also love that she had a whole side quest where you actually talked with her and her spirit guided you to the consecrated snowfield. She felt more like a traveling companion in that sense.
Lhutel wielding the Eclipse Greatshield also points to the soulless demigod being Godwyn. The Eclipse is associated with Miquella's efforts to restore his golden brother's soul.
My personal favorites:
For the sake of getting things done: Tiche, Mimic, & Dung Eater
For the sake of aesthetic and appearance:
Kristoff, Ohga, Amon, Floh
For the sake of lore:
Lhutel, Finlay, Oleg, Engvall,
Honorable mention:
Jellyfish
If anyone would like me to explain in detail feel free to ask
Please tell me..? ^^
@@awendigowithinternetaccess4400
Mimic Tear needs no explanation it is literally two of you against an enemy, bleed builds will straight up delete bosses
Tiche can temporarily stop healing and keeps the max health down, she also does tons of damage from a distance, definitely good against Malenia
Dung Eater is tanky asf and will survive the entire fight, he also does decent damage and debuffs bosses
Kristoff is a leyndell knight with a big ass shield and a lightning spear
Ogha is one of Radahn's knights with a long bow and gravity arrows
Amon is the first blackflame monk...once again I need not explain how badass that is
Floh is a bloodhound knight, aesthetic alone is worth using, not to mention he does not stop attacking until he dies the moment u summon him
Lhutel is implied to to have intentionally killed herself so she can guard Godwyn's soul
Finlay carried Malenia from Caelid to Elphael...
Oleg and Engvall are not only 2 of the strongest summons but they also were legends in life who guarded a fortress against an army
The Jellyfish has one of the saddest and most wholesome moments in the whole game...
I have to say, Floh is a monster. Fighting alongside them pushes me to play risky and aggressive, and even if it fails I'm always having fun. And in PvP (with ashes enabled) Floh is relentless enough to demand attention, giving you space to breathe or dive in too.
I really enjoy the definitions you give us when encountering uncommon terms. Thank you so much for the effort you put in your videos.
It's awesome to see my comment read! Oleg got me through a lot of difficult fights, it's cool to see so many other people felt he was their favorite as well
That was a great tier list and very relaxing to watch while drawing, especially since it was a long video. Thanks for that.
My personal favourite were the twinmaidens. They stuck with me for the whole game after i got them, and were always reliable. It felt as if they were beside me even outside of the fights, like I could see them exploring ruins or new places along with me as some sort of "bodyguards" or companions. Dunno, but i think a magic nightmaiden and her personal guard stumbling across an enchanted knight and going on an adventure of sorts could make for a really good story.
When it comes to the demigods in the mausoleums, I think it’s best to refer to Marika’s speech to the demigods that Melina unveils to us at the Capital Outskirts grace. She tells them to make something of themselves, or amount to nothing but sacrifices. The ones in the mausoleums, in my mind, are the ones that weren’t successful in meeting her expectations (which were pretty unattainable but that’s beside the point), and so they were forsaken.
I'm a simple man I see an hour long video I grab some popcorn. Also I hope Mimic Tear isn't at the top its good but kinda boring.
EDIT: Oooh Black Knife Tiche is my favourite good to see it above Mimic Tear! The whole dommy mommy thing is eh... not for me I just realised after fighting multiple black knives at that point including the gaol one that gives you the ashes how god damn annoying their move set is. It was incredibly cathartic to then have the ability to use that very same move set against my enemies. The literal definition of float like a butterfly sting like a bee. :)
Amazing Work. Love the Edited Descriptions, Tis a nice touch!
that comment where they talked about their dead dog with the skin condition... man i really felt that. it actually made me cry a bit. i feel that so much. so sweet that they mained that ash, because it reminded them of their old dog. that's so adorable. miss my childhood dog. I want my dog back god damn it. so cute and pure that comment was. that really stuck with me.
yes, I wasn't expected to get so moved when I was reading through the poll comments. After I read their nice anecdote, I knew I had to include it! A really special memory that they allowed us to be a part of, thanks to video games! :)
@@miss_chalice i know. it was so sweet and pure. bless that persons heart. so loving and dear. and brave enough to be vulnerable too. I respect that person. also you've done an amazing job on this video loved it
My personal favourites have nothing to do with power levels but Giant Rats and Souljars of Fortune will always have a special place in my heart.
I'M THE GIANT RAT THAT MAKES ALL OF DA RULES!
The name pun alone makes them top tier. Especially since they did their best to localize the pun in every language they could.
I've recently come across your channel since I started playing elden ring after a long break since launch and I just wanted to say I absolutely love and adore your content and videos. It's so amazing, I have watched all your elden ring videos multiple times and I find myself just turning them on for ambient background while I'm doing other tasks, I've even let them play while I play elden ring. Thank you for making such amazing content and putting it on youtube for free!!!! I know there is still loads of content to explore with elden ring but I would love these loreplay videos for all the souls games!
Your voice is so soothing, it helps me sleep. I sometimes play your videos and loop and go to sleep. Very peaceful.
Hey! Thanks for using my comment about Marionette Archers!
I just started the video but before I forget to comment this
the Gideon KICK at 0:48 made me laugh way too hard
I really appreciate all the work you do for your videos, be proud what you have done miss Chalice!
this was a really great video and i loved the combination of not only explaining what the summons do in battle (giving me actual incentive to use some of them myself) as well as the lore of some of them.
but i need to give some extra spotlight to my boi rollo. because he is not only an absolute unit with surprisingly high mobility due to his fire breath which enables him to disengage and get some breathing space while also working together great with frost builds since it resets the frostbite, but his overhead double smash which is reminiscent of the capra demon from dark souls 1.
because this move, in addition to doing great poise damage and bleed build up to any other boss, can knock malenia out of her water fowl dance, which is such an impressive feature on it's own that he could just be able to do that and be a great summon, but it is just an addition to the bulk, dps and mobility he also provides.
Thank you! I wasn't sure initially what angle I wanted to take for this video - so in the end I decided to just include all EVERY aspect haha. Really happy to hear you thought it flowed well and successfully showcased an ash that caught your eye :) And Rollo is an absolute beast, agree
Come on... I was sipping my tea when the Gideon bit came on...
This was a very lovely watch. You have a way of really expressing the more gentle and compassionate themes of the game.
I'm glad that players grew fond of their favorite spirit summons, mine is Banished Knight Oleg, he was my first and was by my side for the majority of my first playthrough ❤
Ancestral Follower my beloved
the video is fantastic and the addition of the comments is a nice touch and makes it more inclusive. the audio overlaps at times is a little throwing but its infrequent enough to overlook it. overall well done!
this is my new fav miss chalice vid
First time on this channel and I wasn’t expecting the lore bites. Absolutely loved it!
I had literally no idea Deneh buffs attack I just used him because it felt like the evolved form of the Warhawk, with unshackled wings befitting of a storm king's companion. Wish he kept the fire attack though :/
It's really funny that some birds of prey intentionally spread fire to stir up prey. Imagine if you could hand him a torch and he just went at it lol
@@zenebean never heard of that before but I did see a video of a gold eagle dragging a mountain goat off a cliff..... Fuckin metal

ok the Rotten Stray story hit me deeply in the feels. Great great comment! May Boc live on through all of us!

It fills my heart with joy when I see your new vids pop up on my feed ..
Even though I've watched many bloodborne lore videos it would be nice to see your take on that classic . I would definitely watch and I'm sure others would too.
Thank you so much! And I would like to cover Bloodborne eventually. I adore it :)
One hour of Chalice, that’s what I’m talking about!
Fantastic video! There are so many summons I hadn't even bothered to give a shot. Me and my newfound Land Squirt buddies will take the throne together!
Amon could have heavy reference to Sauron. The name of Mount Doom in Sindarin (which is one of Tolkiens languages) is Amon Amarth. And if you think about it Saurons original story, and the story of Amon, at least share a few similarities, being the a special kind of traitor to their people. Its of course speculation, but I think its incredible to see these small things
Woah a full 1hr video 😮 great work
I simply love letting these Miss Chalice videos play in the background while playing Elden Ring! Thank you, Miss Chalice!
Great video, seeing my boy Oleg in the top 5. Thanks for making content! Love it!
I absolutely ADORE your book avatars! Well done!
I love this video! It'd be amazing to have a similar one where you cover all the NPC summons in the game, like Nepheli in Stormveil and Melina in Leyndell.
Absolutely, yes! I'd love to see that, too!
im always so happy when i see you post a new video. your voice is so calming i love itt
44:18 OMFG that gives so much more dept to LetMeSoloHer, truly marching the spirit of heroism forward!
I love the idea for the flora and fauna video, as well as any other type of content with you associated!!
I love the Miranda flowers. I tend to enjoy Arcane status effects. And they have a way of creeping up on folks and poisoning them when theyre worried about me
I just have to say, your voice and music are so pleasant to listen and I feel so calm. ^^
Lhutel is my favorite! She has gotten me through my first playthrough :) her disappear ability helped her live longer and toggle agro well
It's really cool because I played with summonings in my second playthrough, but I adopted one (which I even mentioned in the survey) and didn't try out many others. However, this video serves well to show how there is a wide variety of summonings and how they are indeed different, not only in lore but also in combat styles.
An hour and 19 minutes of Miss Chalice omg I must be dreaming!
You put so much effort into this, kudos
Thank you so much for also mention the location, Im going to look for them, by the way, what a calm and pretty voice you have
Another great video! Just curious … is that you and your tarnished avatar in all the battle scenes? Looking forward to your next work.
I needded to jump ahead to see the the Number 1 because there would be fighting hands thrown if it was wrong, but it was not wrong. It was so right. Special Shoutout to Jellyfish that carried my sorry self
You're one of my new favorite lore
youtubers! Your voice is so soothing 😊
Deenh and the shield boys were always my favorites, glad to see them so high up
Thank you for making these 😊
This has swiftly become my favorite channel!
I was playing DS 2 the other day and got hit by one of those Ancestral heatseeking arrows. The accuracy and range on Thor arrows is unreal.
Now I’ll never let anyone put me down for my height thanks to you! ❤ I too would go goblin mode but no more!
There's a single lone wolf in Mt Gelmir. In the game wolves seen to be mostly in packs of 4 + an alpha. I feel that the single lone wolf next to their dead human-alpha resting awaiting the same fait. So what if the war around their home chased the 3 away from their pack (now the single wolf and dead human-alpha).
She sounds so adorable her voice is so low but she’s speaking with confidence❤Kaidens armor the symbol on the front is something norse symbols
Great video as always. It would be awesome if you made a video on ER flora/fauna!
This video was definitely worth the wait and over an hour long too 👌
And that's the video.
Wow. Another amazing video to add to the Chalice List
For some reason I freaking love the jellyfish. She's just amazing, however I have been playing a little with the pack of wolves and it feels pretty rad
A flora run sounds really creative!
I loved my Demi-Humans to bits during my playthrough of Elden Ring. Because my class was Confessor, and I really played along with my class choice, my head-canon was that my Demi-Humans were converted by my Confessor, and became his flock so to speak. I remember, on my final attempt when I was fighting the Elden Beast, my Demi-Humans actually drew aggro just before the Elden Beast unleashed Elden Stars, saving me but sacrificing themselves in the process. They died a hero's death, each one of them.
I needed a new UA-cam to learn/fall asleep to voice is soothing.
45:24 who’s cutting the onions in here 😢
great video Miss Chalice! Thanks for letting us participate in this
You're simply the best my dear. I could listen to your sweet enthralling voice for hours
With Miquella on Torrent in the DLC art, I wonder if the lone wolf spirit ashes actually came from him too. If he is Torrent's former master, then the bell and ashes would have to have been his. Also it fits with Miquella, to take in creatures chased away from their original home. Great video!
Amazing video and something I haven't seen before
My experience with the Great shield ashes was as a faith caster but here is a tip. Against the invisible black knife they seek her out, and, in my experience, because the black knives have a tendency to jump back, my soldiers had her pinned to the wall, no way to escape, no way to kill them, getting shield bashed to death, I was hurling dragon breath, but I easily didn't have to
The rotten dog guy gave me such a new perspective on summons and i wanna do a fantasy play through now
hello miss chalice! i know this is a bit of a late comment but i wanted to thank you for being a respite and a place of comfort from all of the horrors of the world today. watching your video last night was the most relaxed i have been in a while. every post of yours is a gift and i hope you gain more follower-ship and support, this is a wonderful community you have created. thank you, and we cherish you greatly miss chalice.
recently did an RP playthrough where i cast my tarnished warrior as asajj ventress and used black tiche as her 'nightsister'. loads of fun, sometime tricky as daggers range is poop but favourite playthough so far
I'm ngl I thought you were Ranni's voice actress lol. Your voice is very sweet and soothing though and it's always nice to see more interest in Elden Ring lore, it's so fascinating and I find the real-world parallels with alchemical concepts particularly interesting. I also really think your cosplay adds a lot to the characters you discuss, and I can tell you put a ton of effort into each costume. I just found your channel yesterday, and I've been binge watching/listening to several of your videos! I'm really excited for Elden Ring's DLC and I just love that we have such a strong community to help tide us over with lore analysis and speculation to help us all get a better understanding, it often helps to get a 2nd opinion or even make others aware of an item for example, that can completely change how you look at a certain situation, character or area. I also wanted to give you props for the Divinity Original Sin collection you have there in the back, I freakin love that game, it's so much fun and even when I die in horrific fashion, I still have no problem booting it up again not too long after. I did see you had some Witcher videos too, which I'm excited to check out when I have the time, as that is actually my favorite game of all time. I just love that universe so much. You have great taste in games, and I really do appreciate people who delve deeper into the stories these games present and share them with others.
