Yes. Let your hubbie do the roof dear. From a soon to be 80 geriatric, what is wrong with being geriatric? I am so proud to be turning 80 in two weeks. Most of my friends and siblings never made it that far. So be proud as you age and are healthy. Life goes quickly but my motto is keep moving. Has worked for me, despite having RA. Keto, swimming daily and some biologics in tandem with mtx has helped me into remission for 2 years now...yah for geriatrics. It will come quickly. P.S. made the carrot keto muffins and just great...regards and enjoy your videos a lot. From Canada.

In the winter when it’s too cold to go out, consider being inefficient. My mom is so efficient. She’s actually hurting her help. She’s had her physical therapist. Tell her to simply stand up and grab something every hour, but instead she will sit for four hours at a time and that’s not healthy. Also consider exercising with your arms during commercial breaks. Just getting out of the house to be involved in clubs can be exercise too. Walking to church, walking to a club/Bible study/volunteering, doing physical shopping, just was hands when you get home or before you eat/touch your face. God bless you!!!

You’re on the same track I am! All summer I’ve been working out, lifting weights, walking as much as possible, eating 100-120 grams protein per day, and focusing on strength, mobility and good sleep. Sounds like we’re kind of on the same page. I feel great and I’m looking healthier than I have in a long time!

I've been following you for a few years now and like what I see. I'm 82 years old and a little over four years ago I started keto at 290 pounds, size 52 pants. In less than a year I was 190 size 40. I was happy with that. This was done with only walking for exercise. I have since added resistance bands for exercise. I found an app by Weller that starts with a whole body 15 minute workout, before you get to the body sections. So far I'm only using the free app, but I'm thinking of signing up. My weight is up to 208 but I'm still in size 40 pants.

I love watching your videos. And I am so happy that you found the keto diet. You look great!!! I have one little suggestion is to eat clean keto. It is very hard to do, but it is well worth it. I have found that I watch Bobby Parrish and he tells you about all the ingredients and stuff. Which has helped me a lot. But I do not buy any of his products. They’re way too expensive. It is more expensive to eat this way but you will find you feel much better. I started eating this way because I was in a lot of muscle and joint pain. I am 64 years old and the pain was ridiculous but know I can say the pain is gone and I feel GREAT!
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS. Keep up the great work ❤

Thank you for not waiting until the new year. Most people think they can only start at the new year. Also when starting new don't start on Monday bc it's more stressful. I had started an exercise regimen but for various reasons skipped Mondays for 3 weeks. On the 4th week I jumped up and started my exercises without realizing it was Monday. It had become a habit by then.😊

I have two friends that are pharmacist and they actually stay away from medication themselves and care a lot about helping their patients get away from the need for medication and spend time on education with each person. One of them works with a hometown pharmacy. He focuses on doing bloodwork, vitamins, and really working with individuals so they get healthier. He also sells a lot of fitness things in store along with low carb treats and high protein options. The other friend really helps people focus on the spiritual side of things as a Christian. I know it’s rare to be independent nowadays when you have a job like pharmacist it’s probably a lot more work and complicated but we do need more Amazing pharmacist that make it a goal to get people off the pharmaceuticals and on the right nutrients and lifestyle plan.

    • @SRose-vp6ew
      @SRose-vp6ew Місяць тому

Seriously be so careful. I think it’s wise to ask for help. I know you might feel up for it, but literally when you’re younger you bounce and bones are less likely to break, however, when you’re older, you don’t recover as well. Your bones become closer and closer together and when you break, it becomes more serious. My aunt literally fell off of a ladder trying to clean out her gutters, not only did she lay there for hours and need a long and expensive hospital stay where they didn’t even wash her hair, it was a very difficult recovery process and lots of family had to help. It’s much easier to clean out the gutters for someone twice a year vs caring for them daily because they had a nasty fall. God bless you, stay wise, if you don’t have any family or money ask if your church has a volunteer group. And if you’re not currently volunteering, you can get involved volunteering too, just with something less dangerous. And lawn care and gutter cleaning can actually be more affordable than you would think, cut costs in other areas. Still focus on exercise, but in safer ways. Maybe help a younger family out while they help you out. 💕

Listen Im that little old lady you speak of. But I had a stroke in my sleep a week after losing my husband, was blind due to cararacts, and had a massive heart attack and 3 heart procedures. All since 2019. Life can be hard but you adapt. A lot of this was cvd at the base of things ramping problems up, especially after long haul. So give some of us a break, we didnt think our 60s would be like this either, but pandemics happen, triggers things. To all my cohorts battling their issues I say life is an adventure youre just going on another one.

When this life ends we live on eternally. God is a Spirit and we are spirit. God made the way for our trespassing His laws to be FORGIVEN by His Son Jesus who sacrificed to pay the price for our forgiveness because of God’s Powerful Love for us to save us from our sin so that we Might accept Jesus as our Savior and turn to Him and the Father in Heaven. You want to go to Heaven and Jesus is the Way. Pray to Jesus and ask Him. Father God created us to know Him and be with Him. He is only Good.

Ive tried all the posture gadgets. None of them really worked for me so hopefully you have better luck. I just try to make it a habit by telling myself “beautiful posture” - leave youself little notes - like in your car when you’re sitting and running errands- That’s a perfect time to sit up straight and you can put a reminder right on your dash. Some professionals say the braces can make your muscles weaker and TBH they all cut into my arm pits. Stretching and habit are the best thing you can do. I also see the chiropractor and get massages… I also like this gadget called the back pod. It helps posture. I use it for the neck hump LOL Let us know what works for you!! 🎉

Feeling sleep deprived when my 97 year old mom ended up in hospital, my doctor suggested sleeping pills. I don't like to take them because my mind still feels groggy upon waking. Thankfully, my heath food store had a better suggestion when she realized stress was inhibiting me from my usual eight hours of sleep. I took ashwagandha for several months and it helped. Now I know that when my mind is racing, I take one a couple of hours before bedtime and my dreams are back. As a senior with recent replacement parts due to heavy factory work, I have also been on a similar journey for the last few years. I look forward to new ideas to better my overall wellness. You’ve given me some good ideas. I’ve been lax with my diet for the last 6-8 weeks because of trying to clear my husband’s mother’s apartment due to her sudden need for assisted living/memory care.
One advantage has been quadrupled activity, though anxiety that disrupts sleep and eating out more frequently due to fatigue seems to override that benefit.
As I get back on track, I’m grateful for my supplement plan, though I have to admit that I missed a couple of days in these past few weeks. Besides my thyroid and anti cancer meds, I take only 5 supplements in pill form. My calcium, vitamin D, omega-3’s and a multivitamin are patches. I was skeptical at first whether they would work. My oncologist agreed to test levels before and 6 months after using the patches. He and I were both impressed with how well they worked for me. I know patches don’t work for everyone, but I was thrilled, especially with the increase in my vitamin D levels. Mine used to be quite low , even taking 10,000 IU/day. (Hmm, maybe why I developed cancer in the first place.?) Now, it’s upper mid range. Not optimal, but almost 2x what it was before.
While things aren’t yet stable, my increased activity level has gone down. To compensate, I’ve set alarms to remind me to move - even if only to walk around my kitchen island 40 times (roughly 500 steps. Works while making supper 😅)
Obviously other exercises and stretching is needed so using your suggestions so perhaps setting alarms for these might also be beneficial.

Kettle focus, if you find yourself hunched over your computer all day, then there is a solution. You can buy a desk that you can sit at sometimes or stand at sometimes. The desktop can be raised up to a standing position. I had one when I worked in a call center. Standing up sometimes really did help my posture, there is nothing worse than sitting at your desk for eight hours or more every day.

I have to take a ton of pills every day due to rheumatoid arthritis (my mobility and pain is only going to continue to get worse no matter how much I exercise and despite eating all the protein in the world), and they affect my cognition. So, to remember to take them, I also use pill boxes, but I keep them on my desk right at the top of my keyboard. They're right there in front of my face where I spend most of my time. If I kept them in a cupboard, I'd never take them. Out of sight, out of mind. I also portion out 7 weeks worth at a time (I "inherited" 3 of them when my MIL passed), so I only have to fill them up once every month and a half.

Not all probiotics are the same. In multivitamins
Mfr usually uses cheap ingredients like calcium carbonate,
Ascorbic acid, etc., and heads up, do not take a B-12 with a name I cant spell but starts will a C.

    A word of advice.
Rather than focusing on this notion of "core strengthening", just go to the gym and lift HEAVY weights. Every muscle associated with the "core" is a postural muscle that works while you are sitting and standing anyway so use your limited time resources and focus on what will both benefit your muscle mass and "core muscles" without a nuanced goal of "core work". In my personal opinion as a practitioner of 35+ years, this "core focus" has become the new catch-phrase to keep recurrent patient visits in many rehab clinics.

My husband hates when I get on the roof but somebody's got to do it and I'm not about to pay somebody. My dad used to put me on the roof to clean the chimney flu when I was 14 because he was afraid of heights. 😂 I really need to get up there and brush the Moss off.

Lol, I'm 60 and already super flexible due to ehlers danlos so I always have to laugh when flexibility is brought up. It requires no strength to be flexible. I get no benefits from it. On the contrary, my ankles and knees go any direction they want and muscle doesn't help. I just have to stick to vitamins and protein, really. I also get no help from grocery stores. They just look at you funny when asking for help and say no one is available. I even asked for one clerk to open a bottle for me and she refused. So yeah, that's off the the table.

That is Your situation, and does not apply to everyone. Flexibility improves the strength surrounding the muscle such as ligaments, which supports your muscles.

I agree. I just had my 69th birthday last week and I can still lean over and place my hands flat on the floor in front of me. I am, however, unsteady on my feet due to joint issues and the same "flexibility" that allows me to do all kinds of interesting things is also responsible for my knees buckling and bending sideways (exacerbated by my arthritis which has caused me to be bone on bone since my 30s).
Having said all of that, it's not what Annie's talking about when she speaks of flexibility. And I applaud her desire to improve her health even further. I would only caution to move in baby steps. Moving too fast, too soon results in injuries, some lasting a lifetime.

I would really like your opinion on things like CoQ10 and Biotin(hair loss). I've been taking Biotin for hair for over a year and have not seen any improvement. I am ready to do the exercizes, at 80 I need to keep going-
