  • Warframe has been around the block for a Long time. I don't see this game suddenly becoming irrelevant but games do naturally loose their "sheen" over time. Dose Warframe still have it's sheen? Or is I loosing it? Or maybe.. it lost it long time ago.

I mean, raids constantly needed to be fixed and very few players actually played them because they were kind've boring and certainly not the type of scale a raid should be. So I can see why that happened. The open worlds are cool, I guess, but that's just it. Go in- get the few things you want. Never go back to again due to the lack of useful rewards outside of standing for Kitguns and the like. Dark sectors were cool in theory, just not so great in execution but the biggest problem and the one that ABSOLUTELY has needed to be fixed across the board for a long-ass time. Rewards. Arbitration rewards? Useless. Endless missions? Not really endless when it is counter-intuitive to stay past 20mins/waves/whatever.

I gonna say... I already stopped to play Warframe 3 time, and now I'm in the 4th time.
I'm not saying the game is bad, I'm saying the game is becoming boring throughout the time.
I have my main objective that is: get MR 30, have all MODs at Max out, having all scans, those "collection" things that I love.
But the game is getting so bored that I'm stopping playing one more time, launching the game just once per day to get the reward and leaving.
I just read MR 26, I know I could get MR 27 but I'm not in the mood to play Warfram because of it... It's boring, it is boring the hell out of me.
When the next Frame releases, I will join the game, get the Frame, put it in Rank 30 and leave the game again.
We will have now 1 new Frame, 5 new Weapons and 15 new MODs and I'm not excited about it because it's the same thing over and over again.
When Fortuna released with Orb Vallis I did think "it's a new thing, but it's an old thing... It's a new thing to the game, with new stuff to do, but it's Cetus + PoE all over again"
I didn't play Fortune and Orb Vallis for months... In this time I was in the "3rd stop", I saw the releasing and I thought "Nah... One day, when I hype to play again, I'll do it." and that's it.
To play Warframe I need to get hyped about it, I need to get excited to play it because... New stuff isn't new, are just the same thing and this doesn't excite me anymore.
I don't want to leave the game forever because I like the game, and all those years did teach me that I will return to the game one day, I just need to wait the right moment.
Now? No... Nah... Now I'm playing other games... I will get the new Frame, called Wisp, I will get the new weapons, can't say the same about the new MODs, but that's it.

Warframe need endgame that’s the biggest problem for me , I’m new but I see where veterans are coming from and can relate because other games. Warframes content is based on putting as much content to do upfront but that can get eaten up over time and warframe need an endgame like a dungeon maybe , maybe make rewards scale and my no.1 problem Kuva survival really needs to scale Kuva with every capsule. So to give a reason to do longer runs unlike “well you can do it over and over or do it for longer once for a bigger number at the end screen but it’s still the same amount “

For me the decline started when they made the Void just another location, not the *special* area where you'd get Primes from. Same also goes for Derelict.
Sure the Quests got better and they introduced cutscenes into them, but Warframe is a day-to-day grind game. If you don't have game modes that challenge (in a good way) players that've stuck around for years, you'll lose those people. Right now the Steam charts are showing that the amount of players is declining slowly but nothing to set alarms. I have around 3,500 hours of gameplay and there is nothing much for me to do around but farm kuva which is also painful, boring and after 5 hours of constant farming you can feel stressed, tired and finally broken at the end of the day. Fortunately I stopped playing Warframe months ago and the Kuva changes were the last pierce I needed to decide giving Warframe a rest.

  • @DerultimativeOzzy
    @DerultimativeOzzy 5 років тому +39

Content not lasting for long has been my biggest problem with Warframe.
On Paper, the game does have A LOT of content. its admirable to see the sheer amount of it, BUT a lot of that same content is just absolutly obsolete stuff where you either only stick around there until you got like the rarest mods or crafting parts out of it, or its not worth to go there to begin with. I would say atleast 70% of the game feels like you can do a few times and then just skip it.
Replay value just gets lost and in my opinion, makes new content difficult to be excited about knowing that it'll be fun for a few weeks and then we go back to prime farming and making some plat.
The game just really lacks replay value of the content it provides, especially in the stuff designed as endless missions. We got all these powerful frames and weapons, but so rarely do we find reason to survive in a defence mission for more than 20 waves. The lootpool repeats itself and at that point and we're back to square 1, except the enemies are tougher and the loot stays the same.
I wished DE would find the time to look at what the game has in terms of content right now and works on what is already there, improve it and refresh excisting content , making it be more interesting to play and more valuable for both old and new players alike.

my biggest Problem is about having found builds to survive "high Level" shit arent in any kind used cause i dont have the time to sit somewhere 3h+ why dont just give ppl the Ability to start a mission at a higher level from the get go so you do 20min survival anyway but you can have the Thrill of surviving with the Builds you Achived instead of NEtflix and Chill till you reach any point of interest.

    • @DerultimativeOzzy
      @DerultimativeOzzy 5 років тому +2

@@ItsNightmar3 yupp. I agree there as well. You got the high level stuff offered to you, but for one its a boring time waste to get there in the first place and for the other, the rewards aren't even there for you to make it worth it. Playing a regular defence for more than 20 waves is pointless , because the rewards repeat themselfs at the same quality and quantity but the enemies are harder. Most publics just dip out for good reason.
Same with survival and anything else. Why not make loot scale the longer you stay, so you get more out of it like double-tripple drops? Why not provide solid reasons for the average player to go to wave 100?
Also the infinite missions in my opinion to be sped up a notch. 5 minutes for 1 reward drop in survival is just not reasonable considering the rewards you can get. DE should implement a kill-count that you could reach as an alternative to make it count a full rotation. So you can choose to either survive 5 minutes or you kill X-amount of enemies. That would speed things up properly and you don't sit there for half and hour being mentally AFK or legit Netflix and Chill.

They are reworking New player experience yet again and focus on stuff that wont come after Tennocon, while we are in dire need of endgame. Rewarding, replayable, fun, challenging endgame. Which is weird because if they did shakeup the game in a grand way veterans will get excited, new players will get excited and see something new, people could reanalyze Warframe. When I have people ask me about Warframe I'm honest with them. It's in for the long haul and collecting all the stuff. They try to relate it to other looters like Borderlands or Path of Exile/Diable or Destiny and I have to cut them short that no, it's not going to be like that. I tell them you won't be getting random stats juggling through your loot to min/max builds. I tell them it's going to be a working man's grind to get your power. They ask what's after that. I'm honest and tell them you move on to the next or the next mod or item you don't have. I still explain the cool world, it's cinematic quests how enjoyable I find the base controls and gameplay but the loot loop is not enticing for them. Even when I play with them to help so they aren't lost but they don't find the game exciting to work on their badge collection. When they ask what I do at the time, I basically have to say I'm working on the new carrot they dropped because I don't have much else because I don't care about conclave. I play it for enjoying the gameplay and before Feb. I could just enjoy it for that but 2018 was kinda meh for Warframe.

And Tbh without a clear focus on what's to come, it's more of a 'stick around the sidelines and wait for how it resolves'. And to those who say Arbies are a endgame, they're not. The problem with trials is that even if they were implemented NOW, they will not be some magic bullet that fixes all the issues. Just like Sorties and Arbitrations weren't. Just like Eidolons and the Orbs weren't. The closest we got to what I understand as the classic "endgame mission" are Sorties and I honestly can't be bothered to play them because they are, just the same old stuff with some damn near meaningless twist to it.
There is no such thing as "true endgame" because what is "endgame" is entirely subjective to the individual that can and will change rapidly.

In my opinion, general power creep is the biggest problem that Warframe is currently facing, which was then multiplied when they introduced Rivens. What was planned to be a mechanic to make non-meta weapons viable, made meta ones even stronger, the trading market is skewered by thousands-plat Riven prices, and DE has to continually add more and more weird(or dare I say, bad) mechanics/immunities to enemies so that not everything gets obliterated by a single shot of a Kitgun with a Riven.
And then they added Umbra mods, and recently, Umbral Forma, so that particular Saryn can wipe more of the map when spamming abilities standing on the defense pod.

I knew if I kept reading comments someone would deliver this message.
Every time my eyes see arguments like this video my mind's eye sees "we want more power creep rewards" clearly overlaid. Requests for more lore? Sure, I can get behind that. Requests for "an end game"? I always want to ask: If they provided an end game with no additional power creep, would that actually satiate (you)? If people answered honestly it would be a resounding "No." But at some point a ceiling must be met where warframe/operator strength finds their apex to reach an "end game".
Of course at this point I want to ask, with Warframe in perspective: What is an end game? What manner of content can be added to Warframe that solidifies it's "end game" to all of the veterans satisfaction?

I've hit the 700 hour milestone and the 250 day login milestone, at MR21.. half the time I open warframe I spend 30-40 minutes in my orbiter talking in region chat.. because what am I going to do?
    1. Arbitrations that introduce very annoying artificial difficulty, time-gated rewards, and headaches for how poorly thought out it was to begin with.
    2. opening relics, that are so commonplace that even after having opened nearly 800 relics.. I have twice that across all the relic era's
    3. running eidolon hunts that after the 10th tricap feel like even more of a grind than 60 minute survival runs as nekros in on taveuni..
    4. run the daily Sorties, that give debuff's in higher level content that never actually provide any real challenge
    5. Do farming runs for what ever I, or my clan needs for resources. Pigments (boss or enemy specific with low drop counts), Rare resources, Mutagen samples(of which my total count is only in the low 300's)
    6. decorate the dojo (of a clan where nobody plays because the game has lost interest for them)
    7. help new players learn and progress, get better at the game, get certain things they want or need.
    8. trade stuff from unlocked relics for platinum to feed the over-monetization of cosmetics, forma, reactor/catalyst/exilus,
    9. Grind reputation for a faction
    10. grind reputation for a syndicate
    11. grind reputation for a "special faction"
    12. Profit taker..
    13. Look at my codex for 3 hours
    14. Look blankly at nightwave for the nth time
    15. Grind the battlepass "It's content" but not really system known as nightwave..
This is just a small list, i've left out acquiring weapons, frames, pets, equipment items, archwings, archwing weapons, ship parts, money, endo, mods, rivens, platinum, the derelict, the void, most mission *types*, the events, the prime releases, the prime unvaults, the "you must play with people" mentality, the controversies around DE, their actions, their moderators, their systems, most of their game mechanics, and sometimes other players..
    No, I like warframe..
But after 1 year and a hand full of months I can say that i've done everything warframe has to offer and I may come back for new content, which will probably only hold my interest for 2 weeks.. I've played long enough to know that there's a very drastic downward trend here.. Fortuna is a prime example of this, with a few in the list above being related directly to this.. but worst of all, the rest I might even be able to forgive, if they didn't try to shove the artificial difficulty down my throat.. I've done sorties with unmodded frames, I've done entire sorties with just a dagger and 1 or 2 abilities.. None of it's hard, it's just got the illusion of being hard the earlier in the game you are.. the longest boss fight i've ever had was a 18 minute Final-stage sortie lephantis at level 80-100.. solo, because I didn't bring a weapon that did the 5-10-100k damage that i'm used to seeing now, and I still did it with an unmodified warframe

DE needs to improve a lot of things. But, it is ok to stingy with prime trailers when they have a lot of things on their plate. I wish they would take a step back from the updates, and say: "What are we trying to build here?" Nightwave was a sort of battle pass, Lunaro was definitely a meme, K-drives are a joke. Warframe is spread over in a lot of directions: Events, Nightwave, Normal Missions, Arbitrations, Lunaro, PoE and Fortuna, and Conclave. Conclave itself means that each new frame requires twice the effort as the abilities have to be programmed differently for it, Nightwave requires weekly or bi-weekly high quality dioramas with new challenges and rewards.
Some things become a staple like: Eidolon hunting, relic farming, vault runs and Lunaro(joking). Others don't stick as much, like Conclave, Arbitrations, etc. And you know why? Some provide unique rewards which offer a significant reward which helps us MASSIVELY. The other, not so much. Arbitrations literally give vitus essence, which can be used for ....*drumroll*.... Mediocre Cosmetics, Archwing rivens(lol) and Ephemera, the MOST PREMIUM ITEM IN THE GAME. That is the problem. Sure, arbitration can be regarded as endo farm, but we have Ayatan Hunts to give us our weekly supplement. And remember, each new thing they release requires reworks, maintenance and splits the playerbase. The ones doing Eidolons before are now Eidolon OR Profit-Taker.
In short, DE needs to think what they want to do, what their vision is, and not constantly focus on new content which either undermines the old content, or splits the playerbase thin and requires more maintenace. The new content should be wholesome, and have a place in the game. Sure, railjack sounds fun, but I really don't think it will have a good place in the game outside of an event. Nightwave was a step in the right direction, but requires WAY too much effort to acquire standing for wolf-creds, which can be spent of items swapped every week, so either I have to meticulously track the rotation, or rush to gather the wolf creds to buy corrosive projection. Again, this problem is somewhat remedied by more frequent reappearance of the essential auras and/or weapon parts, but still can be improved.
They need to stop time-locking the essential things, and time-lock/rework/remove the non-essential ones. Arbitrations are a diversion, which have the same enemies, just MUCH more bullet spongy, and no significant rewards that improve the gameplay fun factor or value. Arbitration drones, well, all I can say is "La Nuisance". They don't even look cool. They completely strip away your lethality as a warframe, and are often times very frustrating to deal with. And I still don't know what the Corpus Scrambuses actually do. They definitely need to be more visible.
The new player experience does need to be reworked, but not in the way of more manuals, or training sections in the codex. Even an occasional nudge from Ordis to buy and craft a new weapon, or to remember to mod your weapon after some rank ups would be helpful in giving the TRUE sense of POWER Warframe is known to provide. Otherwise, new players are left wondering why enemies aren't dying as easily as before, or scratch their head at no damage buffs at level up. Warframe is a different game, different than any other in the market, but it needs it's new players to know that.
Here were my two cents, or rather 10 bucks on Warframe. Remember to thank DE each time you click play on the launcher.
    Peace.

Agree with most expect the "splits the playerbase" lol I hope you are joking because that makes no sense, eidolons and orbs can be played by the same players one after another as the eidolons have a schedule to be fought. Also imagine playing a game with only one boss fight worth of farming.

Not sure youll see this message as you have thousands of messages. But this is my experience as a new user
    1. Over complicated with hardly anything explained - this game needs handholding at the beggining
    2. No sense of direction at the start. game needs to be linear and encompassing at the start to get the player invested
    3. It takes forever to get to the point where the story actually starts to matter (War Within and Second Dream) - I played i thought long enough before stopping and giving up. Never did get there
    4. Missions that have control points - these solo are insanely difficult for newbies, especially the archwing ones and with no help your stranded for ages without the ability to progress (i was stuck on one mission for over 6 months)
Ultimately the game is not new player friendly and doesnt do no where near enough to retain players that do give it a chance. Sure if you have a guru friend that explains everything you MAY be fine but thats not something thats evailable to everyone and as such, more and more people miss out on Warframe.
Not disputing your points, they are more end game related but the above is a reason why nrew players are in such short supply. You need to be engrossed and captivated by the story. the gameplay isnt enough and Warframe fails in this department is suuch a spectacular way, it amazes even me when you consider how much they actually got right.
Well thats my view and points on this. Thanks for the video. Was very well put.

When I started it wasn't too complicated for me,the mods were a little complicated but I figured it out pretty quick. The rest of the stuff like farming for resources and warframe parts I figured out from UA-cam vids and the warframe wiki. I do believe they have improved the new player experience recently tho so it should be a little bit easier to get into.

I think they fell into the trap that free to play devs so often easily fall into. They feel like they have to put content out but because they don't trust the playerbase to stick around while they iron out the kinks they just keep letting problems pile on top of each other only addressing the absolute mandatory ones. This on top of a weird stubbornness about taking any ideas or meaningful feedback from their community creates a game that just starts to fester and rot from the inside. Every game needs to eventually go back and fix the problems that have been building up and the longer that gets put off the more likely it won't matter because it'll be too late.

Think about: Railjack/Empirean, Melee 3.0, The New War... Prime Warframes, New Warframes, the UI Revamp, NightWave, who the hell knows if there is even more that they havent released yet.
They have to divide the manpower, and thus all content goes slower, but the thing is..possibly, if they release everything in a big big wave at the same time, we will have shit tons of things to do.

I really think bringing Dark Sectors back would make a lot of vets return and introduce newer players to the real 'community' side of WF. It used to be extremely positive but these days something is just off. Clan Wars were so good for the simple fact it had everyone engaged whether you were 20 hrs in or 1000 hrs deep.
Its really depressing seeing no one interact like the old days. All i saw when i logged back on after 2 years were trolls and hydron runs. I feel sry for the people playing this game now. Especially knowing what the community was like 3, 4, even 5 years ago.
But i guess thats what happens when you ignore your hardcore player base for years. Eventually they'll just get over asking and move on, changing the community forever.

The point was not that players expierence burnout. Rather it was about the new content lacking in replayability . You get the rewards you've actually wanted and just stop playing. That is if you even wanted those rewards in the 1st place.
For example, Profit Taker fight has such meaningless rewards that I've played it only 2 times. When it 1st came out and when I needed to complete Nightwave challange. Yet in every devstream DE said it will be an awesome fight. Hell, they've even made a press release for PC Gamer to hype this content comparing it to 'Ocean's 11'! And then it turned out to be absolutely soulless and pointless.
But, yeah, sure, we all just play the game too much. Just play it for 200 hundred hours and leave the game. Devs gonna get less and less profits to keep the game alive? The game is f2p and therefore actually *needs* to be always engaging? Eh, who cares. Thanks for the good times and goodbye!

I think the problem is people are expecting stuff that warframe just really isn't about, People asked for Endgame content and DE provided that with the raids, look how underused that content got and the time and resources it wasted trying to stay updated.
DE have added new bosses with special gimmicks in an attempt to be challenging but just like everything else there is a meta for it that makes it a joke, Tricap and the Orb Mother come to mind.
Then they add something like the Wolf which ended up becoming a bullet sponge requiring ammo pizza's and riven weapons just to beat him and the community complains without offering an alternative that doesn't end up making him cheeseable.
All DE can do with warframe is what they've always done, try a new mission variable with new weapons and frames and maybe include a bit of lore and background to certain concepts if they can weave a story, end of the day Warframe is not a Triple A game being backed by tycoon publishers and it likely never will be.
I say this as someone who has been burned out by nightwave after reaching rank 30 I haven't been on in a week, but am I boycotting the game? Hell no, I'll be back later when I feel the need to rush and slaughter a legion of grunts to bits as I have been doing for the past 6 years.

Then Teralyst (oh yeah, he was supposed to be a good endgame boss for farming focus ALONE), but everyone minmaxed and complained that unfair, cookiecutter cheese is BoRiNg tO PlAy. Tridolons came and started being hunted in packs of five per night.
There is NO pleasing the whining veterans who don't know what they want. If they get a hard enough gamemode they'll whine that it doesn't reward their DIVINE GRACE enough for them to BOTHER to play. If the task is too easy, it will be minmaxed and obliterated, resulting in whining that it's too easy and "not engame".
Nightwave, for example. People got a flavorful, INCREDIBLY FUCKING GENEROUS and F R E E battlepass-like system that offered snippets of story, varied tasks, rewards. Half the people cant shut the fuck up about how it was TOO GRINDY (despite the fact that you can do all tasks in a week in 2-3 hours. 3 hours PER WEEK), another half of the people can't shut the fuck up about it being OH SO LAME AND UNREWARDING. Trying to please these awful people will never be a good idea.
They'll never EVER appreciate the tons of good things that DE has done, instead constantly nitpicking and whining because they either are too lazy to play or gorge themselves like fucking pigs on meta builds and do content until they can't look at it anymore. There is no 'endgame' for them.

I'm going to try and formulate my opinion on this as best I can here. No guarantees it will make sense.
But, the biggest issues with warframe are, at least for me, twofold.
First, complete lack of any challenge, essentially every mission becomes move from A to B left clicking while things around you explode, which works as you've said for 3-4 months after a long break, creating mission structure that would provide challenge to stop people from playing in the most often seen sonic-esque way. If DE gave us a reason to think about our equipment, most of us have wide arsenals full of various types of weaponry out of which we use... what? Like 3-5 guns since they allow one thing again, mindless often AoE attack that you don't even have to aim. I'm not even talking about melee, since there is literally no reason to use anything but something that allows you to move while spamming basic attack and has the largest range possible. There is talks about fixing it in the whole Melee 3.0, but at the time of writing this, it is a problem. Imagine the difference it would have been if you had missions that would be made in a way, where if you'd try this, you would almost certainly die, so even in a party of randoms, there would be mission sections where stealth and careful approach would be more appropriate. Imagine the difference if you had to stick together and actually work like a team instead of it being 4 teams of one.
Second problem is complacency. Warframe has reached a place where it feels is comfortable, problem is, that place has only so much to offer and DE is, what it seems like, afraid to take massive steps forward. Yes, that is considering updates like Fortuna, which was as mentioned in the video Plains of Irrelevance 2.0 and Railjack, the way DE approaches this game is not long term and they seem afraid to make anything long term, instead they go for immediate gratification that lasts for all of 5 seconds. The thing what Warframe is missing is something DE is so afraid to seemingly make, a solid late game, since when you think about it, what exactly do we have as a late game? Tridolon? Orb? Sorties? Arbitrations? Those are not endgame options, they are distractions at best, daily chores at worst. In a looter shooter you want to pursue challenge in hopes of getting powerful rewards. And I'm sad to say, there is nothing like that in Warframe, Rivens would be a far shot in that direction, but DE is so reserved it they allow you to only get a handful a week, where you would legitimately need maybe a dozen a day and still probably get not much more than a pile of endo. Simply put, there is very little to pursue late game in warframe and most of the things you do end up doing are pretty much just chores.
Well, talk about a rant, I'm sure there are tons of typos everywhere, but I can't be bothered proof reading this mess.

Warframe updates comes out so far between (console have to wait double the time) and completed within couple days.
Also my main problem with de is why are they working on pointless stuff like Cetus remaster, like no-one has asked for it. Whats next? Fortune remastered? While railjack gets pushed back and back.
Also regarding Prime access, some people be getting 5-6 sets in an a 1hr-2hrs from release by saving up medallions and syndicate rep and buying the packs. I still remember how pain in the ass it used to be back in the day and now access has become another normal set.
I love warframe but there are so many flaws mainly looking at players with with a massive amount of hours in game, if you just started then you have so much content to get through and i know DE gear towards the casual side more which is understandable since there are more casual players but we deserve some content and not have to wait an eternity. Nowadays when I’m on warframe I just sitting in my shop looking at trade chat buying and selling stuff (mainly rivens)...sigh.

Yeah, I'd say Nightwave is my least favorite addition. It's special because it isn't just ''whatever, I'll do that and get the stuff slowly'', it's ''Do I really have to fceger do this shfdgeg RIGHT now?''. It honestly feels like a desperate attempt to manipulate people into playing, now people say it's not rewarding enough now that it's FINALLY over and we only get 15 creds, as if that's the problem.
This just feels like trashy mobile games/EA/MMO tactics to me, I hope they're just naive to it like a lot of the player-base seems to be.

    No game is ever immortal.
World Of Warcraft is popular, but by the day everyone starts to speak of it as a "Oh, it's World of Warcraft" instead of "Yay World of Warcraft!".
Team Fortress 2 is the same as World of Warcraft in this regard.
Countless games were lauched, became popular, and died eventually.
This is not a bad thing. It's a reminder that we should never consider something eternal, but rather look foward to new things.
    Warframe...
Warframe was an awesome game, as you said, and is still awesome, as you said.
But like I said, no game is immortal. There comes a time when every game must meet it's end, and give way to new generations.
With all the things we've seen recently... Warframe has begun that descent into death. It has broken the lock which sealed the door blocking new things from arising.
Now all that is left is to open that door.

I hate to say i agree with everything you've pointed out. De dosent care about vets. I miss the tower keys system, the raids, the thrill of doing a survival mission. As another user commented here, the old key system was a blessing that we took for granted until it was gone. For those that dont know what im talking about or just screech that the relic system is better: the old tower system was simple and effective. 4 tiers of difficulty and 6 mission types. One guy choses one of the keys he has and everyone in his party simply starts the mission. While the system was not that good when it came to non endless missions, the endless misions were the reason people played back then. I remember losing hours upon hours, doing a t3/t4 survival with a friend of mine, chatting about life and generally having a blast for at least 40 minutes. Now we dont have anything like that. Eso is 20 mins until zone 8. Arbitration is the most tideous thing to ever exist in warframe as it takes eons and kuva survival forces you to use a defensive warframe if you want to go far as well as forces you in one of the worst tilesets in the game. De removed everything we could do as endgame and gave us missions with shitty loot. And once you get said loot. There is no point in doing it again. I really wish they implement a new endless ideea just like the tower MCGamerCZ suggested. But that would probably never happen.

What DE fail to realize is that with proper endgame they can EASILY be #1 on steam. They are always in top 10 with just a bunch of people who stick to the game, so imagine their numbers when they give those who left due to no reason to go on, an actual reason to constantly play again. Their numbers would likely multiply, 2, maybe 3 times, and stay constant, if the content gives you a reason to be constantly on the game again.
Why the hell are they fixing the new player experience, when there is no loyal player experience anymore? What's the use of making it good for new players when in the end those new players will leave due to no actual reason to stay anymore???

I started playing Warframe about 2 or so years after it was released. Back when there was a stamina bar and no double jump unless you were Excalibur. Then I had some issues with my computer, ended up resetting the whole, losing everything I had on it, and just never got around to putting Warframe back on it. Granted when I started playing it I was like 13 and did really get too attached to it. I thought it was just another shooter game. I never really noticed the lore or story. Back then there wasn't really any QUESTS like we have now. There was a tutorial quest line which was replaced by VOR'S PRIZE later, and then you were just left to explore the solar system chopping up enemies. But when they released PoE, they seemed to have started over in a sense. The plains were directed at the people who had never played Warframe. It was a way to draw in new players with a brand new open world to explore, while at the same time giving experienced players something new to explore and enjoy until the next major drop. I remember getting super hyped for PoE open world.
I think I started Warframe again a few months before the plains were announced. What I can say is I enjoyed the plains when it was first released. It had easy enemies during the day for newbies to learn the game on and feel accomplished when killing. But the Teralysts gave experienced players a challenge while also introducing them to the newest game play mechanics. But after that I feel is when Warframe hit that decline that it is in now. To sum it up from what I have seen and experienced is the new audience. You can't fault DE for wanting to bring in more players, and for giving new players a way to come up in the game. But it forced DE into a corner where now veteran players are demanding lore and game play fixes to make more original and give it that glory day challenge, while new players are demanding more of what they started with. It's one the biggest nostalgia battles in gaming. Of course I think everyone is hyped for the New War, everyone wants to just slap Space Mama in the face after becoming Natah again (personally I wanted more Hunhow but I'm cool with Natah).
What I'm trying to say is DE is being torn in multiple different directions by the fan base. They can't please everyone, someone is always going to be upset with what comes next. But it is still THEIR game. They can very well do what they please with. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I'll play Warframe no matter what they do with the game, and I hope they realize that they are in a make or break stage right now. Their next move will either make a large majority of the fan base happy and give them that desire to play again, or it will drive away long time veterans and even some newbies. The best solution for them is to do whatever they can to make the most players happy as possible. But given their current situation, it'll probably take some time. If we all have some patience and they make the right moves in near future updates, I genuinely believe that Warfram will hit a new peak.

lul you don't need to be the "minority of players" to reach that content wall dude. "I grinded all these new and strong weapons, warframes and mods, what's next?" Nothing, cuz this game doesn't have an end goal for players to use the stuff they grind on. There are no leaderboards, no pvp, no in-game community events and no actual endgame content that has good rewards. It's just mindless grinding for the same-new sht every update and people are getting tired of it. Also no, they don't need to pull an epic to solve this, they just need to actually make an effort on making quality content instead of pumping out that new but obsolete content nearly every update.
Disclaimer: before you complain I'm one of those "very small minority of players" you mentioned, I've pretty much stopped playing this game since a year+ ago. It's honestly disappointing for me to try and come back to this game, only to find out that the same problems still persist over the years. Also just because veteran players are the minority of the player base, doesn't mean it's right to ignore those players criticism and feedback. You're wrong by stating that WoW and Runescape have fun endgame and have retained players because of it. The sheer amount of content, and due to time gating, or just grinding for levels and armor is what have brought those games success, and continue to retain players. For WoW, a huge expansion comes out every 2 years, while progression is time gated so that you'd be doing dungeons and raids for months to get a full set of BiS gear. Runescape you sell your soul and grind currency hours and hours a day to get the gear you need. It would take you years to get 99 everything, and that's playing every day.
Warframe has always been easy to get into, and do well. You can get the best mods and weapons for a warframe in just a few days, or if you already have them, ranking up the warframe to 30 takes a few hours (while applying forma). It's always been easy to get to the best build possible for Warframe. When I picked Loki as my starter frame years ago around patch 10.0, it only took me about a month to deck him out with maxed out mods and BiS mods, completing him basically forever.
People find themselves bored in Warframe because they have a very strong build and can't find a reason to keep playing for the sake of playing, due to no improvement, or the somewhat stale gameplay. Warframe has content and tons of it, but it's useless content, seeing as the rewards aren't there for players who've reached "endgame", or the gameplay remains the same, but just reskinned.

    @animewolfOtakuwolf 5 років тому +5

Ok, here's my view on your points (Warning: lot of text)
    1) More exposure = more potential players = more potential revenue.
For as long as it can be afforded, I don't see the problem with the exposure.
Of course people will stop coming at somepoint but you know the say "Resources aren't infinite", which translates into "the game can't attract new people forever", which is... kinda normal, not just for Warframe but for every game in existence.
Of course the game is also not gonna keep people engaged forever, but that's just how things are, and again not just with Warframe, and not just with videogames.
    2) four things about the second point:
    A) Sustainable content... you mean, like the endless missions ? The enemies scaling give the challenge, the rewards rotations give a small reward scaling, and the fact you can come back to play it again to improve your record as a replay value? To me that feels like sustainable content. One can say "but I feel bored from this", well, that has to be expected at somepoint, no game keeps people engaged forever, no matter how many gamemodes and how much content it has.
Also, people talk about "sustainable content" but never say WHAT KIND of sustainable content, and that kinda makes this critique fall flat and unconstructive.
    B) I said it before in another video of yours and I'm gonna say it again:
Content takes time, the bigger and more gamechanging, the longer it takes to be made, and that's how it is not just with Warframe but with every game and everything outside the videogames world as well.
Not to mention the fact that new content can "interfere" with older content too, so there is the size of the game as well to count as a factor for the updates taking longer, just remember the Raids being removed because "kept breaking" with the updates, that is a perfect example of this.
If you think otherwise, just remember Anthem... you know, that one game certain people (and certain Warframe content creators) were praising like the second coming of Gesus on Earth, that was cobbled together in... 18 months ? Yeah, we all see how that ended up.
    C) If you obtained all the Fortuna content in one month... well, congrats, because a lot of people (me included) did not until one or two months ago (and only thanks to the Exploiter toroids)... come to think of it, I still have a few things to do or get (some costumes and that damn "Race ace" achievement for the K-Drive)
    D) Speaking of events, we have Nightwave now, which is kinda the same as old events except instead of doing a thing within a certain timeframe, we do a certain amount of tasks, which to me feels the same, just done differently (not to mention it improved the alert system).
Sorry if I say this, but rather than beating a dead horse, this point feels like trying to hit a piñata blindfolded while walking in the opposite direction.
    3) The game was more flourish of ideas before because it was new and not all of the ideas were made.
I can talk about this point from a personal experience: I am an artist, and back when I started, I had LOTS of ideas for pictures and comics and things to do art-wise, but as time goes on and years pass, it also gets a bit harder and harder to find new ideas that haven't been done already.
This is yet another thing to be expected, also because, obviousely, the more you play, the more things you have done, and the more you have "unlocked".
Of course, at somepoint you are going to hit a "wall" and you can either A) wait for the wall to move on, or B) get back on your steps and try to walk on one leg... or on your hands... or just walk the same road again.
If you can't do either, maybe is time you walk another path.
    4) People saying they don't like a change =/= people are tired of the game
    5) Some primes did have a cinematic intros, but there are many earlier ones that didn't have any... yes, we didn't have anymore after Mirage, but we also didn't have any at all before Saryn so, can be that considered really as a "cut" ? Besides, I don't know you but i can live without a trailer showcase (is cool to see, but is it really that important ?), i mean, is not because of the trailers that I play Warframe or get the primes.
    6) I don't get what is wrong about primes being "cheap" in the market, it only means they are more accessible, and... I honestly don't see the issue here... other than the baby argument "Reeeeee, I buy prime access/farm for hundred hours but other people don't and get them cheap for trading, tis makes me mad" (and sorry if I say it like that)... which, if you think about it, is the equivalent of going mad over Nintendo games for having an "Easy mode", and i don't see a possible reason for that beyond the "elitism".
To me, you and some other people just sound tired, and i can understand that, all veterans get tired of games at somepoint, and I know it because I also got tired of Team Fortress 2 when i reached 3000 hours... and you know what I did ? I just left. And you know what I did after ? I came back to play some more later and... I was happy again, rocket jumping, building sentryguns in absurd spots, dancing with teammates and enemyes off a cliff, you name it.
So, if you are so tired and feel "unhappy/bored" about Warframe, why don't you just take a break from it ? Rahetalius also did it (although for "serious" reasons) so why don't you do the same ? Play something else and come back later, you'll see the game with different eyes, i know it, i'm been thorough that too.

@Otakuwolf I really like what you said because I feel the same. I took a break of couple months and the game was like a new one. And the real problem are the "vets", i don't know what they are doing but i always have something to do. I don't rush until i have everything in 3 months. I'm at 2000 hours and I have plenty of stuff i wanna do or try out. The vets just rush within 2 weeks to have everything a new update as to offer. There is plenty of content, if you feel bored, leave and don't complain about lack of content. I know the game have many problems but, they are doing their best to solve things.

@@benny609 Not even ALL the vets, i'm at 4686 hours as I'm writing this comment and I still have stuff to get and do in the game, and I belive that's because, unlike many other vets, the only times i spend money in Warframe is to buy inventory slots or cosmetics.
Referring to another comment from another video, which says the exact same thing I always keep saying too, the only people having so many problems with Warframe are:
      1) Content creators who get the stuff quick and cheap for review purpouse
      2) People who spend money to skip the grind
      3) Super hardcores that don't play anything else and "can't find" anything else to play
If you are going to pay to skip the grind and literally not play the game, then yes, you may obviousely have potential problems with the game, and it wouldn't be an issue on it's own (more power to you, it's your money, you decide how to spend it, etc.), but at least it would be "good taste" to not complain there is nothing to do when you have literally spent money to not have anything to do in the first place.
Funny enough, i still remember some Warframe "content creator" complaining about "not having anything to do in Fortuna" less than a month after it's release, while also saying to have bought his K-Drive, kitgun materials, and Operator suits... Gee, i wonder why he had nothing to do (sorry for the sarcasm).
And if they play the game so much to burn out... that's on them, nobody is forcing them to only and exclusively play Warframe, and nobody is forcing them to only make gameplay videos either, look at Quiette Shy, she makes Warframe ART and manages to do related content even without playing the game, so why can't those burned out veterans try something similar ? I even saw some guys making an OCTAVIA BAND playing actual musics using Octavia's manachord ! Is almost like Warframe is more than just a looter-shooter game and many vets can't see it.

It doesen't matter what DE will bring up to the table, it will never be enough, these vets don't know what they want themselves, so, of course they will never be happy and will always complain, and they can't expect DE to live in their minds and find the solution out of nowhere.
All they have are "vague" complaints about "sustainable content" but either never say what kind of, or say something that resembles what the game offers already (or did offer but didn't bother to play when it was around), and that's why i think they'll never be happy.
Also, making drama videos is apparently easier than talking about actual game content (devstreams breakdown as an example) or make "side content" like Shy or Better Name Pending do (or Rahetalius when he made his "concept checkup" videos), so there you have another reason why these vets won't stop complaining anytime soon.

Ok so imma preface this by saying that I'm not a "veteran" but i've been playing the game off and on since the first day Plains dropped 1 and a half years ago and have over 1200 hours in the game, so it's not like I downloaded the game yesterday, either. And while I haven't personally experienced Old Warframe(tm), I've heard a lot about it, and I was following the game since its reveal trailer in 2012, it just didn't interest me personally until Plains. And it seems that Plains marked a key point in Warframe's development. DE is at a point where they're constantly trying to reinvent the game, and it's working. New content every 6 months or so such as Plains and Railjack, in addition to giant boss fights, all that stuff is great. It's just, it's not really sustainable for a game like Warframe. DE needs to realize that they're a mid-sized studio, not a triple A studio, and these new and exciting things take way too much of their resources. They realized that when they shut down the other game they were working on, and they need to realize it now with things like Railjack and open worlds that are essentially making a new game alongside Warframe.
Warframe's development is becoming _scarily_ similar to that of Team Fortress 2. It's not quite that bad, as the developers still visibly care about the game they're making, but the solution to their problem of lack of major updates is similar, and they obviously want to make more updates but simply can't. Why not outsource the big projects like Railjack and open worlds to another studio, while working on smaller stuff like new frames, events, and the gas city rework in-house? They're making another game entirely anyways with all the new modes that keep being added, and while they usually get a positive reception, the downside is how fast the community burns through the content and how there's usually nothing else for months afterwards. Is it a money thing? I dunno, I think the risk vs reward would be worth it.
side note, a side effect of this is that the plot of the game is just stale, which isn't good at all for people who care about it. Due to the Fortuna previews, it's apparent that things happen on the Warframe timeline as they're added, so that means canonically we've gone an entire year without seeing Lotus and Crackly Lotus has performed just as good as regular Lotus, in some cases even better as new voicelines have been added since. So why should I even care what happens to her? The last story quest left on a cliffhanger, as if it was about to continue, but it's just been stuck in limbo for a year with no sign of continuing. What's really odd to me is that open worlds don't even advance the plot, they're just localized side plots, which are fun, but you'd think that after all that time making them, they'd have something to do with the main story, right?
and hooo boy dont get me started on steven universe, that show _wishes_ it was warframe, if it was more comparable to wf it would at least still be good

I refuse to believe that they lack the funds to hire a boat load of new developers. The game is very popular and from what I've gathered, a sizable chunk of the player base spends money on it. I'm under the impression that they make money like a triple-A studio even if they aren't one.

I think the core of this game of completing all the story missions, finishing the galaxy map, putting favorite builds together fashion framing, and standing for ranks at any of the open worlds is about 300-500 hours right there. Anything after that and it becomes riven hunting, making random fun builds to get a higher master rank etc etc etc is what can make it feel like it is out of content. Because it is a dead game for me after 500 + hours until new content comes out. I play it in moderation now it is not an every day for 6 years game as a veteran I knew this and took 6months off each year to see what other games there are. And it can be really enjoyable at a once a week sort of thing to do a sortie and visit your clan to talk to people. Not a bad social platform to chill on a friday night. So with that formula, it doesnt feel dry bones or like I need to complain about how it is boring and DE needs to fix more of what the players of 4000 hours are asking for. Honestly they are one of the best developers in the industry right now and this free live service game is better than half of the shit that dies out in a few weeks time. Hats off for this amazing product and like I said if you are ever feeling like it is turning into a dead end when you log in, treat it like a vice you have and take some time off and come back when youre ready to absorb new gameplay. Decreasing your hours you get on and playing sparingly will help tremendously with how you feel about it. I clocked only 550 hours in it and I can say that I will not put my self through a grind to be a completionist or perfectionist and unlock everything to reach thousands of hours. Thats me though I get some people are like that but save yourself from overdoing it if I have any more advice to give.

As addition to the video I'm also missing the importance of CC (crowd control).
Back in the old days having a CC in your group was pretty much mandatory, but these days with those updated warframes and powerful mods you don't need CC anymore, because everything dies instantly anyway.
I prefer challenge over cakewalk and currently Warframe doesn't offer any of that challenge. Saryn is a fine example for what I mean with this.
Saryn used to be my main warframe, because it was a really good dps warframe for the end game, but only if you knew what you were doing. You had to use different types of weapons and status effects to build up your Spore damage before you consumed it with Miasma. This playstyle was challenging, because you had to be aware of how and when to spread the Spores.
But then DE went and buffed the Miasma so that instead of it consuming the Spores, it spreads them instead. This increased Saryn's damage astronomically and you no longer had to worry about spreading the Spores yourself. This change also removed the enjoyment of playing this warframe, at least for me.
My point is that it feels like DE's main goal for each warframe's design is to make them as simple as possible so that they're easily accessible for everyone.
Warframe is a decent F2P game, but I can't help but miss the old days.

I just started playing the game a few months ago and I feel like there is so much to do I feel like I'll never get to it all. And I feel like from talking to new players they feel the same way. It seems that, like many games that have a hardcore player-base, the veterans forget that new players is what support a lot of the cash influx in games, along with players who are time constrained, as they are who spend money. For people who only have a few hours a week to play, end game is plentiful, as is the walk their. Just my two cents, I know every game is more complicated than that, but the people who have been on the forums and Reddits for ages aren't necessarily who is financially supporting the game, though they may be supporting it in a community sense, and even if they do spend money, they are usually a minority compared to new or "still working towards/just getting to endgame" players. Looking at the game through their eyes usually gives a better idea of the health of a game like Warframe or other multiplayer/looter-shooter/MMO style games.

At the same time I find it a little sad that every year I see this realization about the state of the game, It means the issues we have been having since 2013 are still here and thats another thing, some think this is a recent or a "now" issue when in reality it has always been this way, DE didn't provide proper end game for years and when they did it was mediocre at best, ended up ruining it or outright removed it:
Raids were nice but we only ever had two of them and it took what felt like forever to get the second one and then they were forgotten, they had nice "puzzles" or challenges which got clanmates to try and organize groups to do more than just shot at trash
Sorties were alright, one needed lvl 30 warframes and had special conditions then they just made the rewards not rotate giving you less incentive to play them and limiting their longetivity
