I'm pretty certain that's most likely the case, feathers being a big part of Ayleid culture like adorning armor and all, using the term Unfeathered is very fitting for a dead Ayleid who had his "feathers" ripped away(wether figuratively or literally). He was a Champion of Meridia too so I'd be more inclined to think his nickname whilst living was something more related to Light or something, but that's my opinion I suppose. I might be misremebering but I think there's at least one other of the Ayleid kings killed by Pelinal confirmed to be nicknamed posthumously so it wouldn't surprise me if all the Ayleid kings Pelinal killed directly being nicknamed posthumously as well.
If we take the word ‘garden’ at face value and consider the Ayleids proclivity for flesh sculptures, it’s not too much of a reach to suspect Namira is the identity of the insect god. Her sphere is the repulsive and grotesque, covering everything from vermin to cannibalism, I think flesh sculpture would be right in her wheelhouse. She may have granted the Ayleids favor and unknown power if they adorned their gardens in flesh sculptures as offerings to her.
Between the various "lost" elven races like the Dwemer, Falmer, etc.... The Ayleids are my favorite. My working theory for the Insect God is Molag Bal, again, only this time taking the same shape as he used in Lyg. Molag Bal is also described as carapace in the Ruddy Man story
Fun fact! Ninendava will play a very important rule in Beyond Skyrim: Cyrodiil's main quest, which is also called the Knight of the Nine questline (not to be confused with TES4's KoTN)
I have an idea for the podcast. Races most likely to go extinct or fall out of favor(Like the Dreugh, or Falmer.) I'm very worried the Dunmer might be on their way out of the current cycle and since the Hist are from the previous one that could put the Argonians on the chopping block if something were to happen. 4th Era is very dreary and there is about to be huge conflicts probably in Elder Scrolls 6
Keep in mind, the Nords associated Dibella, Goddess of beauty with Moths. Maybe the Ayleids did as well, and the Flower King revered the Insect Goddess, the Moth Goddess of beauty.
My theory on the title "the singer", maybe he sang during battle? It could also come from the, let's call it voice, of the bow, with the "pling" sound you get from stretched strings, or the "whistling" sound a flying arrow makes. In that way, it could be poetic speach of how skilled he was as an archer, making either his bow or arrows "sing", meaning he could shoot arrows at rapid speed. Or he could have gone the more fantasy route, of using a bow that was stringed like a harp, providing him with several different strings for different distances.
I think i just love Australians explaining things. Not that i dont love the lore, i adore it... so theres a combination here thats just too tasty to pass up.
Cool video! I would argue that the Goat Faced Altar seems more like Clavicus Vile. It could be Molag Bal but by the writing of the Songs of Pelinal he was more lizard-like and just plain demonic, so while poetic license could be applied enough to call that goat faced, Clavicus Vile always showing up as a satyr would definitely work as well. Then there's the title: the Shaper. If this Ayleid King was strongly tied to Clavicus he could be more of a Shaper of Fates as he twists what should happen to his whims and at the same time it would be very fitting of Clavicus to see to it that one of his greatest adherents has his face caved in on his own altar. Also the Flower King I think is more a reference to real life Flower Wars, given the Ayleid's obvious ties to European depictions of Aztec rule. To this day we still tend to think of Flower Wars in the popular imagination as wars that were more about gathering sacrifices than killing your enemy on the battlefield or conquering some patch of land. This is, like quite a bit of the pop culture understanding of Mesoamerican history, inaccurate as they were more like Highly Formalized Wars I would bet he is 'the Flower King' because he would probably launch many wars and campaigns to take captives to sacrifice without ever taking land. I imagine the insect god is probably some aspect of Namira that would empower him or a demi-prince like you suggested.
What if a plague of insects came apon the Flower Kings Kingdom because of theyr great gardens but his people could not deal with the swarms and were overwealmed by illness and venom.
I know I’m late to the party on this one, but hear me out. What if Umeril’s “father” is Merida before her fall from the Aedra? I mean who’s to say what form or name Merida went by before taking her place among the princes. While I’m no lore scholar, most of what we know about Merida’s fall is speculation…we don’t truly know the how, when, or where. Just thinking out loud lol great vid!
YES, I would love a game set in the Merethic and First Eras! Also, as to Umeril's father, I think The Seven Fights of the Aldudagga (I know, it's not an in-game source, but Bethesda has proved that they use A LOT of Kirkbride's non-ingame writings as lore (especially the Nu-Mantia Intercept)) could shed some light on how he came to survive into the next kalpa. In one of the stories, Alduin gets angry at Lorkhan (called the Greedy Man) and the Leaper Devil King for stealing parts of Nirn and putting them into the next kalpa (the Leaper Devil King is transformed into Merunes Dagon as punishment). Could this be how Umeril's father was able to survive the ending of his kalpa? Because Lorkhan "stole" him and added him back into the next version of Nirn? Which implies he is still around. Maybe he is Syrabane (the Aldmeri god-ancestor of magic) or Phynaster (the god who taught the Aldmer how to live another hundred years).
I think in reference to the flower king, he could have sacrificed the men of gi to Namira, and then ground their bodies up into a disgusting pulp to fertilize his flower gardens or something like that. It could be some real berserk level stuff going on.
I’m real into the interpretation of nilikar the flower king worshipping a daedric bee god 🐝 mephala, sanguine, or maaaaybe clavicus vile makes sense to me eta also re: the Men-of-Ge I am also super curious about light/starlight worship in ancient times. Mostly because I’m a Meridia simp tbh, but also bc I really like Magnus and would love to figure out more about how the other magic-related Aedra and Daedra are linked to him
I would like to make a request for more fallout 4 builds if you have time like for instance you could make an NCR Veteran ranger build. But either way I will still watch you content because it is some of the best stuff stay cool.
Ayleids are starting to sound more and more like bird people. Imagine magical experimentation similar to becoming a hag raven? Maybe it required bird person sacrifice and made them all extinct?
The Fire King Ayleid kinda makes sense in my opinion, if his city is dedicated to Magnus and whilst he is very much tied to the Stars, he's also commonly referred to as the Sun God and Fire being far closer to Magnus in that perspective compared to Light kinda makes sense for him to be obsessed with if he is indeed a worshipper of Magnus. It's just a different kind of Magnus worship, which honestly was probably super prevalent to begin with considering the Ayleids whole obsession with Stars and Light in the first place.
It would have to be most modren lichs learn from the king of worms and god of necromancers who didn't exist yet so barring time travel fuckery couldnt have taught them. That leaves the ideal masters as the only other nigh god level necromancer power making them the most likely option although it could have been a deadra hermaus mora is know to have acess to books from across time so he could have got info on how to do it before manamarco actually came up with the process.
@@vonfaustien3957 I think that would make sense mora molag or the masters would have such knowledge but im curious how is the true first lich the first to become one like we know the first vampire and first werewolf but we never hear of the very first lich
I would say Namira is the “insect god”. There’s a ton of beautiful, yet foul smelling plants that attract flies. That and I would imagine that she’d be more interested in the sacrifice part. If we don’t know how The Flower King sacrificed his “gifts”, then I easily could see a pond or marsh in the middle of a clearing where he would do it. A marble path leading to a table or alter where the victim/victims would be left to rot, drawing in all manner of carrion bugs and pollinators of the carnivores plants.
Maybe the flower king had some twisted version of Dibella worship; she is associated with flowers and moths, after all. I doubt it, though, since the Aeylids really didn't like the Aedra.
Betting Umaril is still alive. Daedric champions are able to pull off some odd stunts. And he has a blood relative. I do find it weird that Merida would be invested in the Aylied though considering how many practice necromancy and became undead.
Not all Ayleids are the same lol. Some worshipped meridia some mehrunes dagon and most the divines. She wouldn't cast off an entire race because some of them are bad
At some point the man interpretation of Akatosh gained prominence over Auriel in that it was able to bless Elysia. I think it’s because of the torture art. It would leave men with nothing to do except pray for deliverance. That prayer flans desperation fuelled the manish interpretation of the gods.
I think that the Dragonborn unintentionally damned Nirn to a slow death, sort of like The Dark Souls universe, where you can choose to end the human race and start a new, or let it die slowly. I think the Kalpa was meant to end and we stopped it. Now Tamriel will likely be damned to whatever the Thalmor have planned to destroy it.
At 18:00 you mention that Umaril's father surviving from a previous Kalpa into the current cycle leaves us with more questions than answers. However, didn't the Left-Handed Elves, and possibly the Yokudans do the same?
Maybe hes literally unfeathered? Half ayleid, half bird person from the last calpa? The bird peoples survived but shortly after the ayleid arrival to summerset, and divine could just be a king or queen? So a royal offspring perhaps?
Guys, with this talk of Kaplas I just came up with came up with a Bethesda off the wall theory. Fallout is the Elders Scrolls universe but a different Kalpa.
I was thinking the insect god could be as stated Sanguine, but i was also thinking lord Sheogorath. The madgod might not be the daedric prince of flowers, but he loves himself a beautiful garden, and not to forget the Elytra from the iles.. But hey, in my mind sheogorath has always a piece in the puzzle somehow
I think the insect god could be the Ruddy Man. The dreugh are insect like, with hard carapace. The Ruddy Man is a god of Lyg and Lyg is dreugh. Furthermore, we already know Ayleids worship Molag Bal who is most likely the same being.
My theory is the Umaril’s title “The Unfeathered” was actually given to him posthumously in reference to Pelinal tearing his wings off.
That’s my opinion as well.

Cheers! You relit my urge to redo my oblivion ayleid improvement project...
Pardon their arse tortures?! Oh my, the fiends.
Eh the argonians should be okay because as long as a creature exists to drink hist sap they are Argonian. Plus the hist exist in other realms as well.
Poor Dunmers.
Thanks for mentioning the celestials
I always figured the name "Umaril The Unfeathered" was because he originally had wings but they were ripped off.
I think i just love Australians explaining things. Not that i dont love the lore, i adore it... so theres a combination here thats just too tasty to pass up.
I think I've watched every episode you guys have came out with! 😍
You reek of tea and copper, my friend. I salute you!
Love your videos guys!
Pelinal: This video trigger me...
Morihaus: but why?
Pelinal: IT EXIST.
Last time I was this early, I still had my boxers on. Twice. She looked disappointed.
Lmfao
Lol i had to read that twice
One correction. Spiders are not insects. They're not really even all that closely related to insects.
Yup, they are a different subphylum of arthropods.
"a name no one knew yet" so good
Pelinal Whitestrake sounds like a medieval terminator
For a moment I broke through the immersion and couldn’t help but snicker at just how silly that list of Ayleid names and places sounded in sequence
*Yes, Mr. Pelinal, this video RIGHT HERE*
Really love your lore vids!!
Wouldn't it make more sense that Umaril is called, "The unfeathered", because Pelinal cut off his wings? A way to insult the sorcerer king in death.
ITS THE COLORS of their skin!!!
Copper and Tea, bronze skin and tea green leaves and armor! Like the elven armor from oblivion.
I like the theory that Pelinal is basically a time-traveling magic robot knight.
Neat theory! Thanks for uploading!
Fudgemuppet do a video on the Thalmor versus the ancient ayleids and see which faction was more powerful
The Knightsof the Nine quest is my favorite in Oblivion.
Please do a dawn era, I've watched all your others but that period still confuses me
I think in reference to the flower king, he could have sacrificed the men of gi to Namira, and then ground their bodies up into a disgusting pulp to fertilize his flower gardens or something like that.
It could be some real berserk level stuff going on.
A Sorcerer King? Aeylid? yes please... Let the games begin.
I’m real into the interpretation of nilikar the flower king worshipping a daedric bee god 🐝 mephala, sanguine, or maaaaybe clavicus vile makes sense to me
eta also re: the Men-of-Ge I am also super curious about light/starlight worship in ancient times.
Perhaps Umaril's father also took refuge with Meridia? That would explain how he survived the end of the kalpa.
Last time I was this early, Meridia wasn't a Daedric prince.
Love these lore videos
But what mod has the armor on the elves?
I'm curious how these ayleids got lichdom and if its connected to the ideal masters
It would have to be most modren lichs learn from the king of worms and god of necromancers who didn't exist yet so barring time travel fuckery couldnt have taught them.
That leaves the ideal masters as the only other nigh god level necromancer power making them the most likely option
although it could have been a deadra hermaus mora is know to have acess to books from across time so he could have got info on how to do it before manamarco actually came up with the process.
Last time I was this early, Boethia said to Trinimac: _"Are you from the sweet-shop? Because you're looking like a_ *SNACC* _boi!_ 🍽"
Trinimac must’ve been a fruit cake cause he went right through her
Maybe the flower king had some twisted version of Dibella worship; she is associated with flowers and moths, after all.
“God Howard the Shaper”
i would love to hear more specifics about other planets in Mundas.. an insect god makes me think of aliens... Elder Scrolls: Alien Invaders
Best UA-camrs out there😶
Theory: the present caliper was saved by the dragonborn... Does that mean we're continuing a divine intended way, or did we create a new one?
I think that the Dragonborn unintentionally damned Nirn to a slow death, sort of like The Dark Souls universe, where you can choose to end the human race and start a new, or let it die slowly. I think the Kalpa was meant to end and we stopped it. Now Tamriel will likely be damned to whatever the Thalmor have planned to destroy it.
when scott said Gordhaur i thought he said God Howard 4:27
Im gonna need a lore video behind the name fudgemuppet. Were the dwemer involved somehow? Is it akavir related? These questions need answered
What armor mod do you use? Is it immersive armor?
At 18:00 you mention that Umaril's father surviving from a previous Kalpa into the current cycle leaves us with more questions than answers. However, didn't the Left-Handed Elves, and possibly the Yokudans do the same?
Mephala isn't explicitly described as an insect, though. She's described as a spider, which is an arachnid.
What armor is in that which Copper and Tea was wearing?
But hey, in my mind sheogorath has always a piece in the puzzle somehow
or maybe just another daedric prince you know there tons out there
My theory for the previous God - maybe a writer for the games? Our universe being the previous one
I think the insect god could be the Ruddy Man. The dreugh are insect like, with hard carapace. The Ruddy Man is a god of Lyg and Lyg is dreugh. Furthermore, we already know Ayleids worship Molag Bal who is most likely the same being.
On the theme of flowers and beauty the insect god could be Azura
The only theory that i knew so far before watching is that the sorcerer kings were brutally killed to death.
