Incorporeal ghost, immortal lich, hell even a brain-in-a-jar! You do what you must to stay out of the fires below. Tamriel doesn't operate on a Heaven/Hell system. Rapists don't automatically find themselves in Coldharbour, for instance. Mannimarco just really wanted to flip Arkay off. He admits just as much.
Your lore videos have always been top notch and the level of depth and love put into them speaks for itself. However, rewatching this video I noticed that your delivery is becoming more fluent and you aren’t as repetitive as you’ve been in some previous videos. It’s so great to watch you hone your craft!! ❤️❤️
It is often postulated that the reason Mannimarco continuously returns from the dead is because he has achieved a state of traditional lichdom as far as typical lore for liches in most fantasy settings goes. For example, in DnD and Harry Potter, a lich is created when a wizard binds their soul or part of their soul to an object such as a phylactery or horcrux, and is able to return with a new body should their body be destroyed. The only way to destroy them for good is to destroy their phylactery or phylacteries. Many liches in The Elder Scrolls do not appear to behave in this way, or if they do, it's not represented in game mechanics. It could very well be that all liches are like this, but either in-game limitations don't allow this fact to be expressed, or it simply takes a very long time to reform. There are a few notable liches in Tamriel's history for whom we do have some form of insight regarding this. In Morrowind, Barilzar's undeath seems to have some connection to his Mazed Band. In Oblivion, the Hero of Kvatch is contracted by the Brotherhood to kill Celedaen, who is attempting to attain lichdom by trapping his own soul within an hourglass known as the Sands of Resolve. This is a process that apparently takes some time, and you can kill him by simply pickpocketing the Sands of Resolve. His journal says that his phylactery is only vulnerable during the process of becoming a lich, and that he is apparently able to discard it after the process is complete without consequences. Lastly, in Skyrim, you can encounter the Dragon Priest Hevnoraak, who is unique in that you can only kill Hevnoraak after emptying three vessels that contain his original blood in a ritualistic manner, suggesting his blood vessels may have been phylacteries of sorts, and by performing the ritual, you are able to reduce him in a weakened state where he can be permanently killed. Overall, the lore seems to suggest that there are multiple pathways to lichdom that give one varying degrees of immortality and even different forms, as the liches of Daggerfall and Morrowind are completely skeletal, liches in Oblivion and Skyrim seem to be more embalmed and still have some flesh, and of course Mannimarco is often depicted as still retaining his original appearance, but with sunken features and pale skin like a vampire. Since Mannimarco has died multiple times, it's my personal headcanon that he obtained a more immortal form of lichdom, and that he will continue to return until his phylactery is found and destroyed.
To be fair, we've never seen Mannimarco the lich without his cowl. In ESO, he's still technically mortal, in Daggerfall all we see are his eyes, in Oblivion he looks nothing like he was in Daggerfall or any other depictions since then. Even his staff suffered; in Daggerfall and ESO it's an elegant artifact, in Oblivion it's a branch with a skull stuck to it.
I found about this comment just now so late to the party comment. If lichdom really does work like that in TES then maybe his phylacetry or however you write that could be the very necromancer's moon itself, which would make him unkillable because he can be killed but never permanently
I personally believe that Mannimarco's phylactery is the moon he ascended to be. So there's no way to permanently kill him unless you destroyed the moon

@@passingrando6457That's one theory of many on it. I personally believe that was a mortal avatar of Moonimarco (the one who became the Revenant) and that the King of Worms is probably off somewhere else, continuing to be his own High Priest. Letting a mere avatar perish would get the Mages Guild off his tail and allow the Order of the Black Worm to continue operating elsewhere. It seems odd that after all that the King of Worms would just drop dead as a mortal Altmer and not turn into a skeleton or pile of ash when slain. I cannot reconcile the lore behind Mannimarco with my experience of sniping him from across the cavern where he was hiding in Oblivion. It's so hard to believe that the great necromancer was taken down quietly by a sudden arrow to the skull. His appearance in that game does his story a massive disservice.
That would take me having enough investment in the character to make excuses for him in canon. I would rather him just be a trick ass punk like all sorcerers and wizards. Wands are for WIMPS!
as powerful as he is his mortal lich body is still vulnerable, in addition this isn't Mannimarco at the height of his power and followers the worm cult had lost a lot of it's power since the interregnum of the second era by the time of the end of the 3rd era in which the first 4 main games take place he had to skulk about and manipulate from the shadows i assume that last war with Vanus and the mages guild did way more damage to him and to his power base think of it like this even the most badass of warriors are useless if you cut off their hands and feet Mannimarco in daggerfall and oblivion was barely a shadow of who he once was
It's videos like this that make me sooo happy that the quest mod undeath was created and as a result my Breton necromancer character can fully realize his ambition which is to become a lich king and rule over all. However unlike Mannimarco he doesn't kill without reason and would rule fairly and wouldn't be tyrant as long as all except his sovereign rule.

I think in TES6 we might see a return of the necromancer.
I’ve been craving an in depth look at traditional yokudan religion, you always give us every scrap of lore there is to find, think you might be interested in teaching us about this?
The little that I know indicates that some of the gods don’t line up with the aedra/daedra the way most of the other traditional cultures tend to, my theory lately is that the yokudan gods might have originated from a previous kalpic cycle-as the yokudans themselves are said to have survived this with the walkabout. His appearance in that game does his story a massive disservice.
just assume its not the real Mannimarco but just a pretender
That would take me having enough investment in the character to make excuses for him in canon. I would rather him just be a trick ass punk like all sorcerers and wizards.
Wands are for WIMPS!
as powerful as he is his mortal lich body is still vulnerable, in addition this isn't Mannimarco at the height of his power and followers the worm cult had lost a lot of it's power since the interregnum of the second era by the time of the end of the 3rd era in which the first 4 main games take place he had to skulk about and manipulate from the shadows i assume that last war with Vanus and the mages guild did way more damage to him and to his power base
think of it like this even the most badass of warriors are useless if you cut off their hands and feet Mannimarco in daggerfall and oblivion was barely a shadow of who he once was
It's videos like this that make me sooo happy that the quest mod undeath was created and as a result my Breton necromancer character can fully realize his ambition which is to become a lich king and rule over all. However unlike Mannimarco he doesn't kill without reason and would rule fairly and wouldn't be tyrant as long as all except his sovereign rule.
The choice of One Winged Angel as the opening song is just * chef’s kiss *
Your videos give me hope for my work day. Just 7 more of your videos and I'm off work lol.
You're lore videos are the best and most informative on UA-cam you are true professional it would be awesome if you made a video that explained the sleeping tree in skyrim and how its connected to cold harbor, umbra, the living tribunal, the floating city and the hist tree just an idea from a huge fan
The fact that the amulet disappears and reappears from time to time makes it sound like a daedric artifact.
5 mins in and already hooked,
like always!
*happy necromancer noises*
Happy necromancer noises?
Like One Winged Angel for the intro??
Lol
Always satisfing my curiousity! Thank you!
Aaaah, so that's the "dark elf" looking guy in those cool cinematics I've been seeing.
What I don't understand is why Mannymacaroni is considered a powerful necromancer, but not thought about taking over the soul cairn from the Masters.
Because the Masters rule a relatively unimportant plane? Mannimarco wanted true divinity.
He is such a badass character
Girl I can’t stop watching your content! Omg 😱 I love the layout of your videos and how in sync your words are with the art! Favorite video was the Meridia one but hey good fucking job 🤍
That intro was so fitting, love it
crazy how many of these supposedly Mannimarco arts are in fact depictions of Raistlin Majere
yea i noticed that too... raistlin was not a lich, or and elf or even part of the elder scrolls
I'm now going to start a new Necromancer playthrough.
Question is... Has he heard of the High Elves?
I ran into some mudcrabs the other day
@@CoyoTWil3 *snort*
Stop right there subliminal crumb!
Watching this before I finished the oblivion mages guild quest on max difficulty, I like to imagine mannimarco has become akin to a Lovecraftian eldritch being after his apotheosis in daggerfall, who cannot die, and can be resurrected at any time by his followers.
Elder Scrolls' spin on Sauron with some HP Lovecraft.
yo TY for putting your sources in a linked Google Doc, I love that so much, normalize that xD
Amazing video ! One of the best elder scrolls youtubers
Mannimarco: "Behold as I rise from the grave!"
*SPLATS*
So well written, great quality lore video!
I love the videos you make and this is my favorite since mannimarco is my favorite character in the elder scrolls thank you
This is perfect please make a video of everything in elder scrolls you are the Lore Queen
Dislikes are from the followers of the mages guild 🧙♀️
First video I watched from you and now subscribed necromancer is my favorite style of magic and Mannimarco is one of my favorite characters from eso
I was just watching Black Butler videos and I noticed you have Black Butler ost as one of your background musics :)
Fitting this video about Mannimarco would open with “One-Winged Angel”.
Much like shoddycast, my favorite lore masters. Well done. New subscriber.
Manninarco is such a fascinating character, but I can’t stop thinking of how he looks like sephiroth
loved the video truly great work but one correction varen became blind after he read an elder scroll which gave him the prophecy of a vestage stopping molag bal when he awoke from the betrayal he was among the moth priests that brought him back to health and lived among them for a while being one of their order moving on from him being betrayed but then he read an elder scroll that showed him the five champions being lead by a vestage defeating bal and thats why he became the prophet ive play the eso storyline on 9 characters lol
In allinalls video.
A thalmor at the end if the evangelidium video.
The man is said to have said
"The worm reports success"
Insinuating that they they're talking about an inside man.
Or manimarco taking a role in helping the 3rd aldmeri dominion build a 3rd numidium.
Amazing!!! You have the best Elder Scrols lore videos I've ever seen :D
Changing you PFP? Bold I actually like the old one. Reminded of a picture of Saint Mary, but elder scrolls theme.
That's one sick intro.
Thank you for this amazing video, i just finished all your videos in one sitting ;_; Im so glad i found your channel. Keep up the good work !
Huge FF7 fan, love the intro. I have a character on ESO named Sephiroth Kilmister(shoutout to Lemmy. He sadly passed before I made the character).
P.S. I killed Mannimarco.
I SQUEALED when One Winged Angel hit lmao
These videos make me want to play Skyrim and all of TES games, but then the Witcher music comes on and I become conflicted. Witcher or TES??? AHH
Great video btw thank you Lady of Scrolls
Why not both (sort of)? www.reddit.com/r/witcher/comments/ep6uik/so_nice_to_be_back_in_uh_skellige/
install Geralt mod for skyrim
Play elder scrolls online
I use a mod that replaces the vanilla soundtrack with the Witcher 3 one
Binge watching your videos as I have gotten back into playing Skyrim in 2020. Your lore videos, in my opinion, are the best on this platform. I now know so much about Mannimarco. I didn't think about that connection with Calixto. Why doesn't the necklace ever feature any spells or enchants on it in the base game though? Also... I think in TES6 we might see a return of the necromancer.
The Necromancer's Amulet is enchanted, though. It's pretty terrible compared to its previous incarnations, but it is magical.
Nice vid!
May I request/suggest dialing in the volume? The volume jumps blew my head off with headphones :)
Keep em coming!
I really wanna know what other people think
must be the best video you made thus far !!!
They didn't have to make him that hot but I'm glad they did
I wish someone could make want to learn our own world history as you do the lore of Elder Scrolls, at this point I might as well go for a diploma of lore/history of Elder Scrolls.
The most powerful necromancer in Tamriel !
That last bit of music was a 'hell of a choice.' 😉
Everytime I here Manimarco my brains interprets it as Madame Markos from Suspiria
FYI I LOVE THE NEW SIGIL U USED IN THE VIDEO
You have the voice to play a princess character in a fantasy setting game or movie
That opening song is epic af
Loved the video :D such a cool character
One tiny bit tho Clivia is Abnur's half-sister
Mannimarco would be the best villain to add to the elder scrolls franchise
I imagine he’d be the main antagonist of the sixth or seventh game
Because using the same villain over and over gets boring and makes the what we do as the main player useless if he keeps living
@@ciaranmck4469 out of curiosity. Whom or what would you be intrigued to face in TES6?
@@LandStrider23 someone new ideally, maybe something with the thalmor or even the empire, but tbh I have a feeling tes 6 will be less epic compared to skyrim and its gonna be somewhat similar to what we got in morrowind where the story was more gradually built up
Subbed for the intro alone
Hey calm down with that Sephiroth music. Going to get me into that phase of villainy again.
ty for uploading im always eager to learn more about necromancy ;)
I literally burst out laughing when the video started with the finale if "One-Winged Angel. 😂
I like that Necromancy has some positive uses in TES. Molag Bal’s influence on Imperial is clear.
In ESO, I released him from the grip of Molag Bal... before they brought playing a Necromancer, into the game.. I just had this feeling. I now have 3 characters who are Necros... yes...
I know I'm late but I enjoyed this video!
I have a question though: Would it be possible to ressurect Mannimarco's physical form?
Very interesting lore video well done, may I ask what song is that in the credits it is so dark and cool. 😊
