It is a great episode indeed, and beside that the acting, singing and the mere view of Cash is fascinating in itself, his character is very interesting, not the usual rich psychopath murderer.
D A, yes, this last line of Columbo touched me deeply, when I saw "Swan Song" for the first time many decades ago. I became a Cash fan instantly. However, I have to say that Columbo may have been mistaken. While his "bible spoutin' hypocrite" wife was insufferable, Tommy Brown was a pretty bad lot 😉 He didn't just coldbloodedly murder his wife. He also accepted that his underage ex-girlfriend Mary Ann became a collateral victim. I call this pretty wicked. The only redeeming thing is, that he gave his wife a chance to loosen the stranglehold she had on him, when he talked to her before he decided to proceed with his devious plan.
