Alex Lamberty He's the MOST underrated modern guitarist in my opinion. A fantastic musician, writer and guitarist with a massively eclectic playing style. He's goddamn criminally underratec.
I met Vernon in Harlem at a Bowie tribute event in 2015 I think, and he was rocking out to my terrible band in a room of 15 people. He was so incredibly nice and so sweet. So humble. I had just began playing bass after a 5 year hiatus and we were objectively bad. You wouldn’t know it watching him rock out to us and cheering us on. He came over and introduced himself to ME. I’m a nobody. We had a very long chat and he graciously took a photo with us. A rockstar and incredible musician with zero ego. A memory I look back on fondly. Protect this man at all costs! God bless Vernon.
Mediocre At Best I've meet them in Memphis tn at the new daisy theater...and after the show...they had a meet and greet...and trust me ...I couldn't believe with standards these guys hold as a band...legendary...they signed autographs...hugged ya...and talk to us like they were ordinary people which was amazing...and in just standing there in awe like....wow!!! No egos...they took pics and everything...amazing group of guys...and I still have pics of me and the band...I'll never forget it!!!!!
You're absolutely right. I've met him twice so far. He's insanely humble, kind, and generous. Unlike a few other commenters here, Vernon's a gracious gentleman.
THAT was one of the best "Rig Rundowns" I have ever seen. Vernon, and Doug just gave it up without any reservations and to have Billy Cox in there..........................Priceless!!!!!!!!!!!!
I met Vernon after a show a few years back. I stood around the stage after the place cleared out and damned if he didn't come out just to talk to me and let me nerd out on gear/playing questions. He couldn't have been more considerate, receptive and just all around friendly. He's always been one of my hero's since child hood. It was an honor to just have a conversation with such a genius and all around great person. Thanks V!
Living Colour is probably your favorite band's favorite band. You can hear all kinds of modern bands influence from this band. They are one of the best.
This is hands down one of the best rig rundowns yet. Better than the last one you guys did with LC. And freaking Billy Cox of Band of Gypsies was there too?! Too awesome. Love Vernon and Doug's rigs. Doug one of my favorite bassists and biggest inspirations on bass
So back in 91' after leaving high school for the day in S.I. A sports car is idle at the light. I peer in. It its Vernon Reid! I say/ask,"Hey are you Vernon Reid?" He says"Yeah". Spit second later the light changes and points and says"Gotta go". Vooooooom!!
This is the most fun "Rig Rundown" you've ever done. Doug and Vernon are a blast! Add in the cameo of Billy Cox and this is a winner all around. Thanks for doing this!
Love me some Doug.To see a veteran of his stature still expanding with everything technology has to offer is refreshing. Also, massive respect to the legendary Billy Cox.
As Guitar tech for Lola P. One at Fiddlers Green in Denver I had been working on a Rack of guitars 🎸mostly from different bands, from Bodycount to S.Banshees, Vernon did approach me and said ,' mine is good you don't have to touch anything', hjs gear is set! He is a truly unique player 👏 Also hade a moment with Billy Cox in Colorado Springs for the Hendrix reunion Tour! Great bunch of musicians ... Billy Cox was very Kind and modest.and still 'cranks it out'. said I looked like Jimmy ; )
Kind of 3 amps, 4 pedal boards, a midi station... This guy is a Nasa engineer or what ??? I really have to see them live !! Love Vernon ! underestimated guitar !!
Best rig rundown ever. These guys have always been pushing the envelope with tech, so many cool ideas. Haven't seen them play since the 90s but def looking out for a gig.
So underrated.... Vernon Reid is a guitar god !!! From the first time I met him in 1988 I've been a fan of Living Colour and him. He's so nice and no rock star ego. His playing is just stellar. You should check out his bands prior to Living Colour. He played overseas and was a fusion wizard. His playing literally blew my mind !!
easily one of the BEST rig rundowns ever! Vernon and Doug alone are super fun and entertaining, but sneaking a legend like Billy Cox onstage just amps up the fun!
Doug is the Man. I have always liked this band, Doug, Vernon & Will, each are monsters. Doug keeps it real and we need more of that type of honesty in this world. God bless you Guy's.
Vernon Reid is a mad scientist! Love his work. Vernon is so nice he waved to the lady working tables during his playing/interview 18:33 What a man! Best Regards!
This was great. As a long time Tackhead fan, I've wanted to get a look at Doug Wimbush's gear; seeing what Vernon has going on was a bonus - and mind blowing! Probably one of Bohlinger's easier interviews, he just had to hold the mic most of the time!
I grew up thinking Cult of Personality was just the absolute coolest metal song of all time. Vernon is such a unique player and he stands out among a sea of others in the 80s and early 90s...always a treasure.
I've just understood some Living Colour songs. Amazing! No additional instruments. I always love, how Vernon play, but now I know, how important is work of Doug. Respect.
Vernon was the man to teach me that guitars were funky when I was a kid and found this group. Seen them in Toronto about 100 years ago when the roof started falling down on the stage. The drummer had some kind of roll-bar pyramid prop over him, so it was all good. It was a real Spinal Tap in Living Color moment. I bought all kinds of digital boxes for my guitar thanks to the influence of Living Color. Funny enough - these days I just plug and old LP Special straight into a AC15 and it pleases me completely. I wonder if Billy Cox ever has to buy his own beer. :D
I’m not a bass player so I usually skip the bass rundown...I’ll never do that again. Doug is an AMAZING player! And Vernon Reid has always been fantastic but his rig has evolved immensely over time. I would have sound paralysis with that rig. Great Rig Rundown guys!
Holy crap I'm pretty sure I've watched all of the Rig Rundowns but this and Steve Stevens are by far the best ones WWOOWW...mind blown...how likeable are these guys too?
Through the whole first part of this, I kept thinking that Vernon Reid & Juan Alderete ought to make a record together, hahaha, imagine how cool that would be!!!
So glad I came across this Rig Rundown... Wow! Doug and Vernon what a pair! Perfectly synced Vernon's cool with Doug's fire! And GEAR?! Yikes! I'm going to look for some of their live performances RIGHT NOW!...
Love Vernon Reid and living color and I was fortunate enough to see them in a club up close. The club has a 1500 person capacity and on that night it was only 300 people there, on a Wednesday night. They were amazing and very loose and relaxed, tons of interaction with the crowd, joking and jamming, and played 45 minutes over. It was such a great time. It's funny because I saw them in a club just before they blew up and then in a 15,000 seat hockey arena, and 20 years later in the club I mentioned. I have to admit that the club gig 2 years ago was the best.
I’ve had the Roland GR-55 Guitar Synthesizer for several years now and love it. It has allowed me to do a number of different things with the sounds it can make. I usually play a cello during Christmas Eve service. When I was with a band, I was the horn section for our Stevie Wonder tunes.
I saw Living Colour when Cult of Personality had just come out and they were amazing. Vernon just blew the doors off the place. The band was crazy tight and a hell of a lot of fun. I need to check them again when they come back around.
Vernon is easily one of the most underrated guitarists of all time
Alex Lamberty He's the MOST underrated modern guitarist in my opinion.
A fantastic musician, writer and guitarist with a massively eclectic playing style.
He's goddamn criminally underratec.
The whole damn band is massively underrated if you ask me.
Yes he is a beast
Easily
Alex Lamberty What a stupid comment. He's extremely well respected in the industry. Do have some international guitar player ratings book?
I met Vernon in Harlem at a Bowie tribute event in 2015 I think, and he was rocking out to my terrible band in a room of 15 people. He was so incredibly nice and so sweet. So humble. Yeah he’s awesome guy to talk to
Great memory, thank you so much for sharing it.
Vernon uses a nuclear reactor to power his gear lol.
why?
Anthony Fisher Woosh
I was thinking arc reactor like iron man. But ok... lol
Why? Because music is about expression and these are the tools to which he plies his trade
Yes. Its molten salt apparently!:🤣😂🤣😎
Doug seems like one of the coolest guys ever!! And Vernon is so chill and humble. Love these guys!
Mediocre At Best
Lkkkxkx
Mediocre At Best I've meet them in Memphis tn at the new daisy theater...and after the show...they had a meet and greet...and trust me ...I couldn't believe with standards these guys hold as a band...legendary...they signed autographs...hugged ya...and talk to us like they were ordinary people which was amazing...and in just standing there in awe like....wow!!! He seems extremely fake and phony to me. And really annoying.
@@gregoryprice7223I can attest to exactly that, in Portland.
You're absolutely right. I've met him twice so far. He's insanely humble, kind, and generous. Unlike a few other commenters here, Vernon's a gracious gentleman.

Doug and Billy need their own sitcom...I'd watch that every week.
Vernon is still in a state of constant experimentation. He' always search out new textures. He definitely a kid in a candy store.
He's used them before. But he always changes gear in and out.
"This is my uncle, he taught me to play..."
Oh ya sure whatever
"Mr. Billy Cox"
Wait... THAT Billy Cox? No shit...
John Bohlinger you're the best Rig Rundown dude. Vernon is like a guitar mad scientist, Doug bass tone is just badass.
Living Colour is probably your favorite band's favorite band. You can hear all kinds of modern bands influence from this band. They are one of the best.
Doug Wimbish is more effective than drinking coffee. Man, that guy is energetic and inspiring!!
This is one of the most complex Rig Rundowns I've ever seen. That rig makes my head hurt.
I've never picked up a bass in my life, but I watched Wimbish like I was attending class. He could sell ice cream to Eskimos.
I don't know Living Colour, but these guys just seem like really nice people who really love music and gear. Very inspirational!
they are a great band! If you like a blending of funk and 80's hair metal then you will like it!
Listen to Cult of Personality. Shit rips even today.
How...how do you not know Living Colour??
@@TheseBitchesWantNikes More so, actually.
One of the best Rig Rundowns I've seen.
+Filipe Pereira This and the new Andy Timmons one :) !!
All that gear... and the true star of this Rig Rundown is John Bohlinger's poker face.
I think he was simply stunned for much of the bass part.
Billy Cox gotta be thinking "Man, if Jimi could see what he started!" GotDayUmm!!!
without question, the best rig rundown ever done...
Vernon! Damn that was awesome to watch! Come visit again soon!!
I think this is the best Rig Rundown ever. Cameo by Billy Cox during the Doug Wimbish segment. So good
I never saw an interview with Doug, the man is beyond awesome. And Billy Cox... What a great video.
So back in 91' after leaving high school for the day in S.I. A sports car is idle at the light. I peer in. It its Vernon Reid! I say/ask,"Hey are you Vernon Reid?" He says"Yeah". Spit second later the light changes and points and says"Gotta go". Vooooooom!!
I want to see Living Colour even more just to see how Vernon uses all of this live.
+Jessie Vasser also that Catalinbread Antichthon is insane
Me too
Hes awesome live
I saw them in the nineties. Me ears were in pain (ringing) for many days. It was super loud.
One of the best rig rundowns ever.
This is the most fun "Rig Rundown" you've ever done. Doug and Vernon are a blast! Add in the cameo of Billy Cox and this is a winner all around. Thanks for doing this!
Met this guy at a show I was performing at, and he was in the room next door with his solo band. Such a great guy so humble
Love me some Doug.To see a veteran of his stature still expanding with everything technology has to offer is refreshing. Also, massive respect to the legendary Billy Cox.
Doug Wimbish, total star - one of the best Rig Rundowns ever!
I am so behind. This was an awesome rundown. My goodness.
Billy Cox was very Kind and modest.and still 'cranks it out'. said I looked like Jimmy ; )
One of the very best Rig Rundown interviews ever. Really nice and positive interview
The Wimbish segment is the best rig rundown I've seen. Super efficient rundown of sound and technique...
what a phenomenal rig rundown.
Shaky Knees 2021, amazing 1hr set, thanks for coming through fellas, str8 🔥.
Kind of 3 amps, 4 pedal boards, a midi station... This guy is a Nasa engineer or what ???
I really have to see them live !! Love Vernon !
underestimated guitar !!

Yes!! Vernon Reid is unbelievable! Still is! Love his playing and love Living Colour!
I love how geeked out Vernon is with his setup. Mad scientist level.
And then Billy Cox shows up...LEGEND.
Dude is one of the greatest teachers in history. Thank you from the bottom of my 6 string heart!
easily one of the BEST rig rundowns ever! Vernon and Doug alone are super fun and entertaining, but sneaking a legend like Billy Cox onstage just amps up the fun!
I didn't realize Wimbush had such a killer resume. One of the best rig rundowns ever.
Cory in the studio with Vernon: you used so much gear on this record he can't take it all with you on tour
Vernon Reid: hold my beer
This is #1 favorite Rig Rundown episode. I've seen it again and again.
Vernon has always been one of my heroes but I think Vernon's Tech is top of the heap now!
Doug is the Man. I have always liked this band, Doug, Vernon & Will, each are monsters. Doug keeps it real and we need more of that type of honesty in this world. God bless you Guy's.
probably the best rig rundown you ve shot in a while . thanks for this
Vernon Reid is so underrated, he is one of the best
That might be my favorite rig rundown ever.
Two mad scientists on that stage! Incredible!
Thank you so much for the shout out to Catalinbread Nic, Vernon!
Vernon Reid is a mad scientist! Love his work. Vernon is so nice he waved to the lady working tables during his playing/interview 18:33 What a man! Best Regards!
This was an absolute pleasure to watch! Two of the coolest guys with two of the coolest rigs I've ever seen on this channel for sure ❤️.
Two great players, two great personalities.
This was great. As a long time Tackhead fan, I've wanted to get a look at Doug Wimbush's gear; seeing what Vernon has going on was a bonus - and mind blowing! Probably one of Bohlinger's easier interviews, he just had to hold the mic most of the time!

Absolutely THE best rig rundown I've seen. Uli comes a close second though. Keep it up PG.
This was a great video. Doug Wimbish is such a fun guy!
I grew up thinking Cult of Personality was just the absolute coolest metal song of all time. Vernon is such a unique player and he stands out among a sea of others in the 80s and early 90s...always a treasure.
Great rig rundown ,,so great to see billy cox ,,my favourite Hendrix album is band of gypsies that Billy was on
Mr. Reid is brilliant! How did I miss this? Thanks for the video.
I've just understood some Living Colour songs. Amazing! No additional instruments. I always love, how Vernon play, but now I know, how important is work of Doug. Respect.

AWESOME VIDEO ON VERNON, ONE OF MY FAVORITE GUITARISTS, HE IS VERY UNDERRATED, TO SAY THE LEAST, KEEP ON ROCKIN MAN, COUSIN FIGEL
Crazy... you can clearly see how much passion they have for the music.. Legends
DOD splitters are cool, gonna check that out especially for running two amps.....
Wow, Vernon Reid is so patient and kind with the drunk guy. Crazy thinking how he is one of the coolest rock guitarists ever since Hendrix.
Through the whole first part of this, I kept thinking that Vernon Reid & Juan Alderete ought to make a record together, hahaha, imagine how cool that would be!!!
Billy Cox What ! Power Of Love ..
Best Rig Rundown yet - that was awesome!
John Bohlinger aces another Rig Run Down. Makes a difference when he's asking the questions.
Best rig rundown. Both guys are geniuses and fun to listen too.
love these guys and her style in everything
WOW... WHAT AN AWESOME RIG RUNDOWN. What can I say. Totally enjoyed it. And Mr. Billy Cox.
doug's outta his damn mind...i love it! \m/
Two awesome guys and the most awesome gear geeks on the planet.
Here is where all the Living Color money went lol
I saw Vernon and the boys late last year. They're as good as ever. Very cool gig. And you have no idea he's tapdancing at all.
Great rundown. Learned a ton from these guys. Taking notes like crazy.
So glad I came across this Rig Rundown... Wow! Doug and Vernon what a pair! Perfectly synced Vernon's cool with Doug's fire! And GEAR?! Yikes! I'm going to look for some of their live performances RIGHT NOW!...
Vernon is a mad scientist! I love all his effects, amazing guitarist.

Wow, new-found appreciation for these guys! Never seen so many bass effects before.
Love the passion in these guys - like kids in the toy shop :-)
That was fun, saw Doug live with Little Axe twenty years ago, Keith Le Blanc's drumming was outstanding
The great effects... wow! Thank-ya', all
I’ve had the Roland GR-55 Guitar Synthesizer for several years now and love it. It has allowed me to do a number of different things with the sounds it can make. I usually play a cello during Christmas Eve service. When I was with a band, I was the horn section for our Stevie Wonder tunes.
Adding mr billy cobham to the mix made it a very lively rundown, love it!
Our mortal depths of field cannot contain the wisdom of Doug Wimbish
Dude is an absolute monster on the guitar!!
I think this is my favorite rig rundown, EVER.
I saw Living Colour when Cult of Personality had just come out and they were amazing. Vernon just blew the doors off the place. The band was crazy tight and a hell of a lot of fun. I need to check them again when they come back around.
I think Doug, Vernon and Billy are the funniest guys ever.
