This was genius writing & acting throughout..just wish I'd seen the stage show..remember looking forward watching this on tele ...never missed 1..the best sitcom ever!!
Phil and Nige never get a mention when comedy characters are discussed/listed but to me they are two of the very best. Brilliantly written and superbly performed. I always looked forward to their appearance every episode.
Phil and nige's classic quote crime cant crack itself inspires me every time im down my local and the barstaff are nowhere to be seen...oi oi...a pint cant pull itself!
Love the writing, love the amazing actors, utterly basic down to earth brilliance. The first time we saw Twink again from Dinnerladies ( Maxine Peake). The signature tune is excellent too. Shame they didn't do another series as it was all being to gel.
my favourite bit with the 2 cops is when they come in all upset.ken says what happened ? bloody gang ram raided the big electrical wholesaler on the trading estate.we were right on it! did you get there on time! no thats what upset us! by the time we got there the crime sqauad and the rapid response team were on scene! they had all the dvd players and tvs we had to make do with some toasters and a couple of jug kettles! i meant did you get the robbers? who cres they were long gone! its the greedty bastards at the nick thats upset us no respect for property it were all ours by rights!
Love these two corrupt coppers!! "Anyway, we better get off, Crime can't crack itself!!" Best closing line ever followed by "Sierra, Hotel, Info, Tango, Bravo, Alpha, Lima, Lima, Sierra"😂😂
I see they've still got the temporary traffic lights up. I have to go down Burton Street, past the McVities and it puts an extra 10 minutes on mu journey.
Brilliant comedy, could watch it over and over. Well observed. It maybe set up north but as a southerner let me tell you that little back street local pubs in the south too were just like that as I grew up, with real characters. Unfortunately not so much now sad to say. Bring back the old public/saloon bar split, and ditch the Sky tv and the restaurant and get out the doms, the crib board and the bar billiards table.
I'm 11 years late replying here but there's nothing us soft southerners like more than a good laugh at our northern cousins. It was a must watch for me.
@@flipper2392 don’t think that’s even the case. Craig Cash said in an interview that the Beeb wanted a third series but after how they treated him & Caroline (RIP) after how ‘Mrs Merton & Malcolm’ was received, he told them no.
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment?"

I loved the messages they used to get over their radios on the way out.
For example: "Whisky, Alpha, November, Kilo, Echo, Romeo, Sierra". 🤣🤣🤣
One of the best comedy series this country has ever made, it’s so underrated, they don’t make them like this anymore.
Phil and Nige never get a mention when comedy characters are discussed/listed but to me they are two of the very best. Brilliantly written and superbly performed. I always looked forward to their appearance every episode.
Agree..a great double act all ways look forward to Nige and Phil popping in .."got a chaser with that Ken "..
One of most under-rated works of comic genius ever, funny cause it was TRUE!
Agree so underrated . Maybe a bit niche but absolutely brilliant
Every one great actors with superb material to work with and best of all no canned laughter
Kitchen sink foundations to total Bosses of the unsaid
Love them, and that laugh creases me every time
Early Doors is a comedy masterpiece - the very best of British comedy, and shockingly underexposed. Genius!
Please get this show back on ,better than anything on currently.
Phil and nige's classic quote crime cant crack itself inspires me every time im down my local and the barstaff are nowhere to be seen...oi oi...a pint cant pull itself!
Phil's laugh :-):-):-)
Very addictive comedy, brilliant one liners, fantastic cast, a real down to earth series absolutely great show!
Ive always loved this 😂
Forgotten just how subtly funny this comedy was! Very understated AND underrated. Great stuff!!!
Proper shame they only made 2 series of Early Doors.
Amother series at least would have been gr8.
Fantastic script writing. Comedy genius.
Crime cant crack itself.
I've always liked the radio messages they receive. `Alpha, Romeo, Sierra, Echo, Hotel, Oscar, Lima, Echo, Sierra...Tango, Whisky, Alpha, Tango, Sierra...etc.
on the radio as they are leaving.... Tango Whiskey Alpha Tango Sierra
to the regiment! i wish i was there!
If only they`d made that 3rd series, comedy doesn`t get any better than this !
Should have made more of these!!
Television program made into fine art, this is how its done.

love Phil and nige, thick as planks, love phils laugh.
They don’t make these comedy shows anymore. So funny🤣
A very funny show "crime can't crack itself"
To the regiment. I wish I was there
Those cops make my blood boil. Didn’t at the time but twenty years later Phil and nige are the good ones!
Love these two corrupt coppers!!

Brilliant show discovered it recently can't believe I didn't see it when it originally was on TV
Joe's having a shit. Brilliant.
I’ve always loved this, great writing and ideas, however this could pass as a Met Police documentary in 2024 😯
Great post, love it!
thank you from manhattan ©2024

Crime can't crack itself!
not true, I'm a huge fan of early doors and I'm a southerner!
Where can I see all the episodes 😩
I have both series on DVD. Not sure if they still sell them.
They’re now on BBC iPlayer
You cant even laugh at dwarves anymore
Honestly that was the reason it was dropped, beeb said soft southerners don't get it,,,

Classic,,,,,,,, another one the southerners just don't get
Am I the only one who can't understand big chunks of the dialogue? English is my native language too... Must just be the accent.
Turn that nonsense off Nige is a great line and the tone of it as if too say we don’t have to listen to that
