    I just want to say, partly because it's been a while since your last video, that you're really good at this. By 'this' I'm not referring to your colourist skills, which I'm sure are excellent, but to your seemingly innate ability to communicate your knowledge in a way that just makes it easier to learn from you than just about anyone else on YT. Learning from you seems to involve an entirely pleasant and painless transfer of knowledge and experience in a way that is actually enjoyable. Thank you.

    very easy to follow & understand not twisting the subject technically i have seen some experts they keep distracting the workflow & someone new to the subject will finding it difficult ... your teaching is very different the way in which you highlight significance of the color wheel and so ..... jus great .

    This hdr palette is like the base grade of baselight in how it behaves and the underlying color science. The black offset is identical to the flare operator in base grade for example.

    Nicely done Avery, I said the day Version 17 dropped that the HDR Tools would be the sleeper in the new features, that the pros will all eventually work into their workflow. I think the most confusing thing of it is for people to understand overlapping zones. But I do think they would understand using the wheel as a replacement for hue vs hue,and hue ve sat, etc. The first thing that I started doing with it is to pull hues out of white and or blacks and zeroing right in on the luminance point where I want it to be, and then have it smoothly gradient into shadows and/or highlights.
    Anyway, great to see you with a new episode on your channel. It's easy to see that you put a lot of thought, and effort into your videos, and it shows.
    Not sure how many people know how much work and effort goes into these videos. But I do, and appreciate it.
    Sometimes when we get busy it's hard to get the manual out and read and experiment all the new features, it's nice to have someone like you to motivate my thoughts. Well done.

      @averypeck  3 роки тому +3

      Thank you so much, Jim! I agree, the HDR wheels are a fantastic addition to 17. I think it's just a matter of time before they become a central part of most people's workflows. I'm also glad there are people like you who appreciate these videos; that's what makes it enjoyable for me! It's encouraging to see that in the world of "quick tips" and "hacks", that there's still a strong demand and appreciation for longer, more detailed videos.

    Details, nuance and not-obvious features such as copy-paste settings (e.g., exp and sat) from one wheel to another... love it! ... One constructive suggestion??? Darren Mostyn's tutorials use very helpful visual aids such as magnifying the relevant area of the screen or placing a colored box around the items discussed. Much easier than trying to focus on and follow a small darting white cursor. Adding these aids is a major chore itself, to be sure, after your brilliant content work. But love it all! More!

    Excellent, Avery! Love the longer, more detailed format. This format allows you to create, as Simon Ubsdell has done for Fusion, a SET OF REFERENCE TUTORIALS. Detailed chapters such as these might be designed to be fairly complete and intended to be reviewed again and again as one gradually absorbs the insights. Later when one has a question about some aspect or application or use of HDR wheels, one has this chapter for reference. Wonderful! Love it! We all look forward to MORE! Mike

    Impressive video, mate. I saved it as a reference on my reference playlist and should distribute this wonderful, thorough video with friends. I've been playing around with HLG3 with Rec.2020 and I was shocked by how easy to compensate for very underexposed footage up to blinking 2+ MM on the camera! This is impossible on any other mode on Sony a7S III as most modes, and that's what kept me away from log and been filming in S-Cinetone that still has decent dynamic range but nothing close to SLog3 or HLG/HLG3. SUBBED!👏🥳
