Jackie's performance was so Amazing! I have seen alot of children sing in my day and alot of really good ones. But she just went to the top of my list.
How do you compare a 9 years old to a 28 year old women? That the most rediculous comparison I've ever heard. Lets see how jackie sounds when she 28, or better yet post a video of Whitney singing whe she was 9.
Whitney was great in her time, but she was not a soprano.
I am 57 and I am lucky enough to have lived long enough just to hear Jackie Evancho.
I am awestruck by her voice. Most beautiful voice I have ever heard and to think she always came in second in these talent contests. Course now at 11 she does her own solo Concerts. She just did one in Sun Valley Idaho and has 2 coming up this weekend. pretty good stuff for an eleven yr old huh?
My very favorite of all her performances on youtube. Raw talent, warm tones, impressive vocal control. A stunningly beautiful voice and delivered with emotion.
The magical Jacqueline Marie Evancho shortly before her breakout performances on AGT. She obviously "had it all" from the beginning. Angelic voice breathtakingly beautiful.
Jackie is undeniably a SINGER in a world of screechers.
She is better here than the majority of adult 'professionals'.
I enjoyed the show very much. It was nice to see that although she is growing up, she has maintained her sweet little demeanor. The orchestra was amazing as was her special guest Jumaane Smith on trumpet.
This is pure perfection. this girl radiates self confidence. her stage presents is astounding. you can not teach this. this video really brings out her eyes. they are as amazing as her voice. I also love this hairdo the best. the reason why i love watching the videos of Jackie is that you can feel her joy and the love she has for everything around her. Thanks God. What an amazing talent !

my goodness I'm exploding in pure admiration of Jackie Evancho's voice!
This literally made me sweat! I mean, on all fronts; the song, the language, the voice, the execution, the performance, is way out of my ability to comprehend. This is Whitney's song (and I always liked Dolly's first) but to sing this in Italian (she's from Pittsburgh, and she's NINE!) is just God given amazing talent. How did she *fail* TWICE to make it onto AGT? That's ludicrous.
Apparently the AGT producers didn't like her first two audition songs so her mom sent in a video of Jackie singing Panis Angelicus. Maybe there were some Catholic producers on the show idk but that they gave her the last spot on the show b/c of the public vote. People were just astounded that a nine year old could sing that great aria.
The next year when she was 11 years old she went on BGT and sang Nessun Dorma. Only two other Sopranos had ever tackled that monster Puccini aria; Deanna Durbin and Sarah Brightman. They were both adults when they recorded it.

Oh I forgot to mention her studio recording of Nessun Dorma that she put on her Gold album(soon to be Platinum) Dream With Me which she recorded before BGT. She was only ten years old then!
[Louis Wu] Um, not even close! When Charice starts out she sounds her age. Into the meat of the song I do recognize the power she will exhibit when she becomes older. The real difference is Charice is a pop singer and that is noticeable by how much range she possesses. In other words, the range of a pop singer which is limited.
Where is your source for all these details on jackie and the AGT winner. I had heard lots of rumors that match what you said, but never seen any solid source for them.
@dieseldog00 This particular event is not an actual competition for Jackie, if I'm not mistaken. . Just performing at a Talent Quest event. It was a year earlier she competed in Talent Quest.. Are you certain she never won any competitions? I believe she was in many more than what is shown on YoutTUbe.

Cowell did not have the levarage. It is true that in all these talent shows the producers of the show have in the contract that they have the right to name the winner, reguardless of the vote. But they do not want the public to know when they are being over-ruled. They did not want Jackie named the winner and the Evancho did not like the terms of the contract for the winner. So that week end after her very first performance, a deal was made. The terms of the deal shows who had the real leverage.
Connie Talbot gave both Jackie and Whitney Houston a run for their money on this song, although since AGT and Dream with Me Jackie has eclipsed both of them.
Very interesting comment. Of course as stressful as it probably was in that show, you now have permanent bragging rights, being able to say you performed on the same stage as jackie evancho, and followed her performance, something that few veteran entertainers want to do now.

One of her best. This, in Italian, Vincent, Only Time, Danny Boy and others on a Jackie sings the ballads CD would be her next platinum. She has proven she can do torch songs as well. I'm quite convinced that there is nothing she can't do vocally.
@jennyJayify interesting opinion. Fortunately for Jackie, she didn't get locked into the Vegas headline show, which would have happened had she won. The outcome was perfect. So, I guess it was the right song after all! Blessings from above for having her heart in the right place and not worrying about pleasing the world only ;)
Best singer I ever heard.
I get goosebumps every time I witness any of Jackie's 2009 performances. So glad I bought a copy of "Prelude To A Dream" when it first came out. It is the highlight of my small CD collection.

When she was 9 year old, Jackie Evancho sang "I Will Always Love You" in Italian on a local talent show. Whitney Houston's version is still the best, but this is an amazing performance nonetheless.
But of course SYCO/SONY did actually make out, they got to sign Jackie!!!
I saw her in LA on 2/24/12 and was hoping she would do this, being that WH had just passed away and it was also in LA..but unfortunately she did not, regardless, the show was awesome and she did an outstanding job, when I leave this earth one day it will not be with a full heart, because this beautiful soul has a piece of it..

@milewalker1 Thank you I did not know that. But somehow I knew Cowell would not let her get away. He was no doubt onto her when he saw her AGT tryout video on yt. I wonder who the idiot was who turned her down TWICE for AGT, bet he's not working there any more.
What made me angry though was syco taking down off yt three of Jackie's best performances on Great Performances. Which reminds me, what is Foster's role with Jackie now? Does Simon have any control over that?
@MrFrank31088 Believe it or not she never has won one. She lost this one, then lost David Foster's competition, then lost AGT. But as Omg said she has got the last laugh over all the winners. She's internationally famous with a great career ahead of her, and they are...well...not.
But singing here in Italian and showing off that beautiful voice it's a crime she didn't win this one. The producer should be ashamed of herself.

[Strong Aingel] Yes and since her conversion she has all but disappeared from the scene. And I do agree with you about Angelina. In the last few years I have heard alot of very good voices being introduced but Jackie and Angelina truly stand out. So mature at a very young age including how they approach and interpret a piece of music.
Have you heard Jackie's version of "Bridge over troubled water"? Simon and Garfunkel can now retire and be happy that Jackie will carry on the torch.Whitney Houston is smiling down from heaven because she has never heard it done so well in Italian.

@cureloms There was no Vegas "headline" show... but merely a one night gig as part of the AGT tour.
I actually must be one of the few who used to get really irritated with Whitney's version and hated it whenever it was on the radio or telly....but Jackie's version to me is more mellow and I have got to like it the way she does it.....I love the way she persists right to the end although the audience were dying to applaud her she decided that she was gonna have her moment in the sun at the climatic finish lol

@crr1950 Well that's what I read on these competition videos. Those people could be wrong though. I'm from Texas not Pennsylvania so I have no first hand knowledge of her past history in these shows. One thing I do know is, she loves the stage and she loves singing for the people. :) Which is wonderful for us. But let's give Jackie's mom big props for taking her daughter to all these shows and competitions, honing her skills for the big breakout AGT show.

If there is a real manager in the US,please manage her.She is better than anyone existing now,but did not find a songwriter to her talent.Her voice shines only at classical,but most of people doesn't like classical.So she needs her own songwriter!Everybody sings,lot of American Talent boys,but She is just The Voice.
1:28 -1:33 I was shocked and foamed instantly when she sang this part cos as far as people sing this song "i will always love you", they sang well in the first verse but when they reach this part 1:28 -1:33 their voice kinds fucked up xD but she sang BEAUTIFULLY !! Very angelic.

She was wasting her talent on that song, she should have sang classical from the beginning but is always good to try different styles to perfect your singing, so I think it was good for her in the end.

Jackie looks like she has eye make up on this video. I like her natural- innocent- look better in the AGT videos. She doesn't need eye make up or any make up, she naturally looks beautiful like a little angel.
@cureloms Oh course she/Debra knows who Jackie is. Jackie walked away with first place in her competition a year earlier. Jackie had Debra in tears throughout O Mio Babino Caro.

Jackie's talent is truly a gift. I am sure, had she sung this song or "Think of Me" should would've won on AGT. There was probably a collective groan when she sang "Ave Maria." Its not that the song was beautiful and she sang it perfectly, it simply was not the right song. Singing the hardest is not always the best, AGT is not that kind of contest. She needed to sing a song that was less religious as she had already sung "Pie Jesu" which is very religious,
How can any sane person say anything negative about this girl? And the idiot's who claim she is lip syncing evidently didn't take the time to view her performances before AGT. Try to remember, the only talent most girls her age have is dressing up Barbie dolls. Susan Boyle came in second and and hardly anyone remembers who came in first and look where she is, so I don't think Jackie Evancho has anything to worry about. And people without talent are not invited to perform at Carnagie Hall.
@BritneyLuby I'm an old country musician. I've never been very fond of the genre Jackie's voice seems to fall into right now, but her voice transcends all of that.
She has the sweetest voice I have ever heard. Male, female, young or old, she is my favorite singer of all time. I could listen to her Ava Maria endlessly and never get tired of it.
