- Watch this video for clear instructions on how to put on and take off a Herm Sprenger Prong Collar. We also dive into common problems that may cause your prong collar not to work.
If you can't get the prong collar on your dog you should practice hooking and unhooking the links without trying to put it on your dog. Make it easy on yourself! Remember that if you are using a lot of strength you are probably doing it wrong.
If your prong collar is not working there are a couple of main causes. The first is that you attached to the wrong ring. If your collar has an O ring and a D ring you should always attach to the D ring.
Another potential issue is that the collar was twisted when you put it on. This is an easy fix and can be prevented by attaching a leash to the collar before you put it on. This puts weight on the D ring and helps keep the collar oriented properly.
Another common problem is when people take off one of the end links and put it on backwards. This will throw the whole collar out of whack and can be pretty annoying. We show you how to fix that issue in this video.

Just applied to the company crossing my fingers and watching all the videos before tomorrows interview :)
This will be so helpful for people!
Thank you for the video!
So simple to use but so difficult for some to figure it out.
I always make sure my students practice this before ever using it.
Agreed John! Practice is definitely essential. If you watch someone put one on it seems like the easiest thing in the world until you try on your own that first time 😁.
My fingers are not strong enough to squeeze and pull prongs. What do I do?
