    Beautifully produced video. These pants are drafted for a traditional hour glass body with a 10" waist to hip ratio. I sooooo wish that a few of these tailored pants pattern designers would draft for we the rectangles in the world. We are out there!!

      Thanks for your kind note! And I hear you on your search-it can be a quest to find a pattern designer that just nails it with what you need. Is there a particular pants pattern that is your current favorite?

      @@cleow Anything with elastic waist! Not everyone has wide hips and a bootie. 😆I've made sooooo many pants and overalls. Your overall patttern is adorable. A few of my favorites: Robbie Pant by Tessuti and Barry by Style Arc. Just made the Free Range from Sew House 7. They came out decent. I have a 3" difference between my waist and hips. Small-ish frame. Just rectangle in shape. I would have to make multiple muslins and still probably be frustrated. Today I'm wearing Yanta Overalls with a long sleeve T under. Great video content. I appreciate you!

      @@k3of5ks I appreciate you, too!! And oh boy, getting into garment sewing has taught me to embrace the hips and booty 💜so I am rooting for everyone to find their best fit! I have bookmarked these patterns you mentioned--I have the Free Range Slacks but have not made them yet. Might give them a try this Spring. The Pomona Pants by Anna Allen are another elastic waist you might check out. So easy to sew up. I had to stop myself at three! 😁

      @@kateb6893 Hi Kate. I've been thinking about your exact comment. Think I'll start trying them on in thrift stores to see if they work. I'm afraid the waist won't be high enough. Won't know until I try, right? Thanks for the suggestion.

    Love these! A tip for folks marking the pattern and find it difficult: try thread marking in a contrasting color! It's improved my accuracy so much since I fiest tried it

Keep up the good work. You inspire me to try the make nine challenge this year. This video is a work of art, if I wasn't already in love with sewing it would have suffice to do the job omg! your work is so neat and beautiful to watch, and I love the music too and the way you edited the whole thing!! Can't believe I just found out your channel. I've had the pattern in my stash for a while but no energy for the fitting process, but it makes me look forward to one day making it.

    Yes to marking all of your transfer marks and pleats!!! Sometimes the chalk marker rubs off and I have to redo them… Also, Great idea to chalk the baste line for the button fly and topstitching lines! I’m using that tip for certain!
    What is your pressing fabric made of?
    The music, camera angles and final product are stunning. I love your videos so much!

    • @cleow

      So glad to hear this, about the tips and the video styles. ☺️ Still trying to find the right style so this is helpful to hear! My chalk marks tend to rub off too as the project goes but I can usually still see a hint of it so I can touch them up. (And I have tried tailors tacks-with the thread-but I tend to pull those out…😄) The pressing fabric is nothing fancy! The one on the bottom was a leftover piece of linen that I serged and the top, lighter one is made from a big scrap of cotton muslin/calico: www.moodfabrics.com/5-yards-of-unbleached-44-cotton-muslin-305201

    Thank you so much for this sew along I have had this pattern for years but have seen mixed reviews on it and put off making them till now. How did you find the sizing on them and di you make any alterations to the pattern. This is a great video and look forward to making them. Thank you once again. Cheers Tricia.

    • @cleow
      @cleow  2 роки тому

      Of course, my pleasure and I am glad it is helpful! For sizing, for me, there are two parts I plan for: choosing grading between hip then waist measurements, and also knowing how the fabric will wear over time. I made these in a pattern waist size 10 and graded out to 12 at the hip. The initial fit is snug, but I knew my denim would grow and ease out from wearing.

    Hi, what's the little white strip you use when you start a seam/fly front???? thanks..great video.

    • @cleow
      @cleow  2 роки тому +2

      Oh yes, great question! It is a seam jumper. That one in particular came with my machine. Very useful when a seam or fabric is thicker and the presser foot needs a lift over a bulky seam (otherwise the machine just stitches in place/breaks a needle/uneven stitches). They are also called hump jumpers or jean-a-ma-jigs! 😄
