Nice review update & set up tips. I do t have one but only because I got a very good deal on the SCX10 3 JLU & it’s now highly upgraded & I have to say it’s my favorite Crawler right now. Not only does it have great performance it’s very scale looking & has a great looking body with many upgrades available. I can see why the Basecamp performs so well it has good bones & Lineage.
Love seeing vids on the basecamp Francis. More please. Lol. For sure, the basecamp is definitely hands down my favorite crawler right now. Really really enjoying it. Lots of treal and Samix black brass low and a few other mods and it is running beautifully. Great little truck👍. Keep up the good work sir.
Cheapest fix to steering is to adjust the first link i.e make it shorter. Then trim the servo arm towards the right a bit. This way both sides can steer almost equal without hitting the panhard mount . Ofcourse other ways are good too, this was the easiest & cheapest for me.
Great content as always on this channel. I’m impressed by the Axial Basecamp…they seem quite good with a few mods! Each of these trucks has awesome looking wheels too. 😎
To help with side hill deez shock bands will help with the shocks unloading on side hill but still allow full articulation. I put 90mm desert lizards on my 10.3 jeep and rock pirates shock towers front and back. I still need some brass up front but I’m getting there.
Sounds like we have another WDW fan! I have a bunch of Rock Pirate stuff and desert lizards on my trx4 because of the channel. Haven’t tried the Deez bands. Running so much droop I don’t think I’ll need them. But I do think I am gonna get a kinetic winch rope from him.
@@jasonbecker4997 That I am. I’m wanting to build a full rock pirates 10.3 just waiting on more to release but i am tempted to get there chassis since I use a 10.2 trans. Desert lizards was my first aftermarket shock and I also run at 75-80% droop so I don’t believe you would need deez bands but with a standard shock I would definitely try it. I also have dravtech’s but I run a small spring inside to help with this only because I didn’t know about the bands at the time an got tired of using rubber bands. I have a 99 micro winch on my c2 but honestly you never use it unless your comping but the kinetic winch is a great option.
Cool mods x2 on the BaseCamps. Glad to see worthy competition for the TR4. Also I would like to see any updates/comparo of the Vanquish Phoenix. Have not seen it in your channel since new.
Hey there, could you provide more details on the outrunner. You like this more than the in-runner? Also, you said duel stage foam. What did you mean by that? Thanks :).
Cool now it’s $1100 crawler🤪. It crawls pretty well stock just need a body and some better tires to be honest with you. Just my opinion keep up the good work!
Pretty darn good stock, for sure. Good news with the 10 mods is they can be done in order of value and priority. Stock tires are pretty weak for sure. Motor/esc next IMHO.
Not sure if anyone else’s basecamp came with SUPER leaky shocks…. Mine leak like crazy even when the truck is upside down for working on it :/ Also the rock pirates rc parts are absolutely incredible, I put the sliders on my basecamp and the weight of them is awesome but also had to bend them slightly to fit the wheels at full lock.
@@RCReviewChannel yea, I was thinking that I’d add the portals later down the road. I just don’t want to buy the basecamp just to throw away the electronics, body and tires. I also heard that axial doesn’t plan on releasing the kit version of the basecamp.
It's always dependent on the size or the number of holes in the shock piston. So there is no set rule. For a lot of climbing for this rig, I like 60wt rear for more support and 40 or 50wt in the front. The gray one has 60wt rear
Yes, in our first video, we measured right turn steering radius to be tight at 43cm. The left turn is not as good at 90cm. The reason is a steering linkage design problem that prevents full steering angle. ua-cam.com/video/Wu4kCSGmHpI/v-deo.html

Thanks for the share.
These Basecamps look like a ton of fun to mod especially when all your friends have them!
stock class with cheater mods hidden inside :)
Much more capable with the front bumper off looks cool too!

Thank you. I know Vu and I are not going to stop upgrading our base camps since we are crawling together.

For side hilling look into shocks that can droop helps a lot!!
This is another very good video. Side-by-side comparisons are good.
Glad you enjoyed it

The Rock pirates Rc shock towers made huge difference on the blue truck. Kept the truck lower and gave good option of shock position.
What was your friend’s custom wheel well/inner fender liner made of ? It is an amazing idea ! @RC Review
Thin sheet of foam from a craft store.
Yes, crafts store!

you love your hyrax!
Try rubber bands on the base camp u will lower the cg for cheap and u still will get all the articulation i would like to see a comparison.

Coming soon!

So with the blue truck does the pan hard mount come with the new shock mounts?
Do you know what brand portal cover?axle weights your buddy was using?
What do you use to record your videos with that allows you to crawl and record?
Man I’m suckered again in to getting another set of wheels.
can never have too many wheels
What tires are on the blue truck?
The links you have are for a brushless motor and brushed ECU.

Thank you for that. One of my shocks was indeed leaking. Sometimes I use a product called green slime on the O-rings.
What wheels are those on the grey truck? Those are beautiful

I’m sure u already know this but that battery is too big and too high. Love the vids!! Been subscribed for a couple years now! So helpful!
Yeah, I have a 4s battery 1/3 the size of that.
@@RCReviewChannel 4s!! That’s some power!
What is the weight bias on both of the cars? Front and rear weight, with battery?
With that battery on the video, it is 60/40 front. With a smaller battery it is 58/42.
Would you recommend me to buy the raw 10.2 raw builders kit over the basecamp if I’ll be using my own body, tires and electronics?
No, the 10.3 is better I think, especially if you want portals and ground clearance. 10.2 is a decade old now i think but still good.
@@RCReviewChannel yea, I was thinking that I’d add the portals later down the road. I just don’t want to buy the basecamp just to throw away the electronics, body and tires. I also heard that axial doesn’t plan on releasing the kit version of the basecamp.
The basecamp is a fun truck. Definitely my favorite right now hands down and way better imo then the 10.2. I’d go bascamp also.
50 or 60wt Oil?! Isn't it way to high?I thought crawlers would run max 40?

Bad steering to the left? Or did I misunderstand the comment?
