- After reading "The Killing Zone", I've committed myself to periodically attempting the private pilot checkride maneuvers, to make sure that I can still do them.

Well done sir! I have read and re-read that book now a few times. As I have progressed since getting my PPL, I continue to find new wrinkles in it that are insightful. Now, how about a steep turn to the right next time! :)
Thanks!
Also: LOL! I should have put an "over/under" on how long before someone mentioned a steep turn to the right. I had guessed a day. And it wasn't even an hour.
But yes next time will include a steep turn to the right. It will also include some ground reference maneuvers - as soon as I can figure out how to effectively film them.
Nicely done sir Geek. Practice makes perfect. Again congrats on passin ur checkride.👍🏾👌🏾 #salute!!!!!
Thank you, sir! How's your training going?
No prob & it's on hold due to finnances.
Oof! Hope you can get back to it soon.
Hey brother, I applaud you for doing maneuvers past your ppl. I definitely am not as disciplined as you, but you have inspired me to do some maneuvers on my next flight. And I will say it wasn't a shabby as it may have felt to you. Take care!
Thanks, Russ! If you haven't read (or listened to) The Killing Zone, I highly recommend.
@@1dullgeek Will do!
Thanks for the inspiration watching your videos. 52 years old and wrapping up my PPL very soon based here @KSAV. Started back in 1992 and had to give up the dream due to heavy deployments back then as an active duty Marine. I never gave up the passion and dream. We intend on purchasing an airplane as well to build hours and use as part of our business and charity flights. I hope to meet up with you some day. Again....thanks!
Nice! I'm really glad you're enjoying the videos. I would love to meet up with you! KSAV is not terribly far, but we should find someplace in between and both fly there! Send me a DM on twitter to coordinate: @1dullgeek.
Good luck with the rest of your private!
You missed a turn... "he's making a left turn"... lol
Great video, sir. Looks like you haven't forgotten anything. Can't wait for the next one.
TBH on my checkride the DPE was like, ok you did a left steep turn. We're good. Let's move onto ... OH MY GOSH YOUR ENGINE IS ON FIRE!
I really like your idea of doing it every three months- same pace as currency minimums, basically.
Thanks! And you're right, I hadn't noticed that. I just thought: at least every three months seemed like a good amount of time.
Nice job man !!
Thank you!
So here's the deal: I am committing to doing this again in 3 months. If you haven't seen me do this in that time, send me a DM on twitter: twitter.com/1dullgeek. I will enter you in a giveaway. And the giveaway will be something valuable enough so that I don't ever want to have to actually run this giveaway. I just don't know what it should be.
Some ideas I have:
1) If you're not a pilot, I'll pay for your introductory flight
2) If you are a pilot, I'll pay for 1 hour of flight instruction: you pick what you want to get instruction in
3) I'll send you some of my bitcoin
Any other ideas?
