Give myself a day or two once a month to do whatever training I want to do. Could be a total rest weekend or I could be doing a century ride or even a TT and Track intervals. Whatever I want to do
Since we are back under lock down here in France we only get to run inside a 1k radius and only for one hour at a time. But... luckily, we have a small track within our 1k radius and so my husband challenged me to see who can run the fastest 10k this month. Beating his PB is probably even more motivation than a race! 😂
Anytime I am struggling either before or during a workout, I will look at a picture of myself from a few years ago where I weighed over 300 pounds(136 kilograms). Don't now how heavy I actually was because my scale maxed out at 300 pounds. I am currently down to 170 pounds(77 kilograms). Just looking at the picture reminds me of why I continue to train. Also, something really simple like walking up a flight of stairs. I had a really hard time doing that before. Not anymore. Or sitting in my car and not having to struggle getting the seat belt around me. There are a lot of other small things that you may not even realize. Sometimes it really is the most simple things that can give you motivation to train.
Hi i just found your channel/video! I'm not a cyclist , but i want to get motivated to work out again. I started working out a few weeks ago, lately feel low energy. My husband used to do triathlons. I used to run, did a half marathon years ago. I'm not a strong swimmer. But someday i want to run more ,swim better and overcome my fears of running over a floating bridge (seattle full marathon goes over a bridge). I just started making smoothies yesterday. I just subscribed to your channel and liked this video. Introvert mom of 4 sons (2 autistic) enjoying making youtube friends, learning from others, while trying to grow my small channel (dog therapy music to save pups /humans lives). God Bless! i look forward to watching more of your videos.
A triathlete friend and I decided to do a DIY 70.3 in March to have a goal and motivate each other! We all have our watches ! Our families for the water support and transition cheering.
To keep my motivation I train with the people I like, I do balance and stability training on a regular basis, I keep the amount of training manageable and I do training sessions indoor from time to time.
Also, winter is all about embracing that cross country mentality for me. Getting out in the woods or even just looking for puddles to get all muddy and fun :)
This honestly helped a lot. It hurt when my first IRONMAN was cancelled and I lost my motivation to keep training for another one that was a year away. Hopefully I can get back on it! See you guys and gals out there!
Because I am now 62 I feel motivated to get other seniors outside. Now they don't have to do a triathlon but walk around the block. Just get out and stay healthy. I set my program 3 days at a time. and so if it rains I can adjust.
Yep, lost motivation to train, and I also lost motivation from not coaching new swimmers since our pools are limited in capacity given this pandemic. But I also did a virtual marathon with the help of my friends who also ran with me (in person and virtual). So that was nice.
Cheers for the G up Mark. Winter can be tough. I get up feeling less motivated at times but it’s always a good idea to go for a swim bike or run as long as the conditions are safe to. I sometimes even find running in the rain exciting :)
Keep myself motivated, I joined a virtual (mountains to seashore) challenge to cover 475 miles over the next 3 months- I trade off running and mountain biking. It has really helped me keep going!
Wow, I was not expecting to hear my pain cave mentioned after the Alp d'Huez submission, but thank you so much for featuring my spooky pain cave! As for motivation, I'm always motivated to train because I'm just bad at all three sports and will not rest until I'm comparable to my friends that I follow on strava! I don't really think about race results so much as personal progress day-to-day.
Yeah.. I lost motivation a bit when my marathon was canceled. It was supposed to be a stepping stone to my first triathlon. I really felt like I was backsliding. But I find these videos really encouraging. If just to know there really are more people out here going through the same thing as me.
Motivation is truly hard to keep rolling at the moment. I counter this with the help of an awesome Twitch/Zwift community. Watching others smashing it live always motivates me to get at it. @GTN let’s network! I’m sure your viewers would get a lot out of hearing about our community as well.
To change it up and add motivation to colleagues, I started a Strava group for friends and colleagues at my company. It has already helped a few blokes put up some additional time and training. It keeps me on my B game (crash injury a few weeks ago, so off the A game for a few months)
I had lack of motivation for the last 7 months for sure. In the spring I ran every street in my city. 23 runs 161 miles. Then it was gone but I got a few 5ks and a 10k. Now to get it back I signed up for a marathon on open roads a week from Saturday. Its probably a bad idea, But I think I can go really easy and hold myself back to a 4 hr time.
I lost my motivation after coming out the army and losing pretty much everything thanks to depression and anxiety. However.. my mtb has kept.me entertained and busy as has gmbn embn gtn an gcn videos. Just wish I had more friends 😂 lockdown will never keep me locked down. But it's the govt that is sapping everyones energy with all their bs they putting on the people.🙏😻 God Bless you all!
Trained super hard for months on lockdown, went to Cozumel 70.3 and got a flat tire, now I go Ironman Cozumel in 3 weeks and for some reason I lost it. Got a 953 last year in a full IM and just lost it. Not thrilled or nervous...
I just registered for my first triathlon which will be next year, bike and run training I think it is fine, but what is your recommendation for swimming please? Any dryland workout ?
Help! I am new to triathlon. (comming from Cycling and still doing it) I would like to buy something to train. I am hesitating between a power meter and a sports watch. Why a power meter?, Because i still do most hours Cycling. Why a sports watch?, More progression to make in Running+swimming. If you have some recomendations, budget: PM €450, watch €250. Also leave some reasons to one of the other in the comments. I probably will choose one of the two.
Challenge to run 100m of ascent in a run- where’s the challenge? Like many I live in a hilly area and my daily run has at least 150m of ascent, perhaps next time you should include alternatives so we all can enjoy a challenge? Great videos and love the channel.
Hi Steve, for some athletes, 100m will be a challenge - Mark also said that if 100m of climbing isn't enough he'll be mentioning the person with the most Elevation, so there's more to it 🙂
What do you do to keep motivated? Let us know how you get on with our little challenge and don't forget to leave us your caption comments! 👇
Just signing up for a triathlon, it's that simple, If I am signed up I'm automatically fired up

Motivation has never been a problem over my 55 years of training/racing....there is always something to improve on!

Sounds like you've given yourself plenty of structure - which helps a lot 👍
Me too. I train where good looking people are to stay motivated.
