    This was a very good scouting report. I agree in a more off ball role will help his game. I just think some flaws in his game can be iron out.

      Thanks! I agree that a combination of scaling down his responsibilities on the ball and using Holland off the ball much more (hopefully in some creative ways) while his handle+decision making develops will make a lot of sense for him - on both ends, too.

    Good editing, good selection of clips and well organized. I was looking at Holland because I heard the Kings were working him out, glad I found your channel.

      Appreciate you! I think Sac has a legit chance of drafting Ron tonight. Depends a bit on how the board plays out before then.

    He is certainly an interesting player. He has talent, good physique and the ability to create his own shots.
    But he has some red flags: he doesn't look like he can play point guard and his three-point shooting percentage (24%) is very poor. So it's not clear to me what his position in the NBA is going to be.
    Another important point is his defense. Holland was considered a good defender in High School and doesn't seem to have bad defensive instincts, but the Ignite have been a defensive disaster this season and it's hard to evaluate him.
    And one last important question: Holland was supposed to improve his outside shooting, his team play concept and his defense this season. Has he really improved any of these in the last year?

    • @FloorandCeiling
      @FloorandCeiling  6 місяців тому +3

      I generally agree with what you're saying. With regards to his position, I think the hope a few years ago was that Holland was a 3 who would eventually be able to play the 4 but now it seems imo like he's a 3 who might be able to play the 2. On defense, he should defend wings but be switchable to some extent.
      As for the improvement points, the defense has been disappointing but I think it can be argued that Holland improved a shooter despite his poor percentages.
      For most of his basketball career until now, he was incapable of creating his own shot at all. He did that with the Ignite vs. pros, although with bad efficiency and some reasonable questions. Still, he has not always been able to pull up from three or off the dribble into a midrange shot, for instance. I think that can count as improvement, even if it doesn't seem like it at first.

    nice report...as usual. Yeah, i don't think I'd take a chance on him...but you never know. It's interesting how varied people's mock drafts are. I wonder if this draft has multiple sleepers. Some are just hard to figure out. For example, guys like this zvonimir ivisic kid...it's just hard say with a lot of these guys.

    • @FloorandCeiling

      Thanks, appreciate you! There's a lot of variance in this draft because there's no clear cut order really. Prospects are fluctuating between tiers more than ever before.

    Between kuminga and Paul George. He is 2-3 if not a 3-5 year project.
    Blasphemy warning: I'm getting Kobe vibes. Kobe's work ethic, IQ and relentless mentality made him great.

    • @FloorandCeiling
      @FloorandCeiling  5 місяців тому +2

      I think Ron shares a lot of parallels with Kuminga. Twitchy, athletic wings with two-way potential, budding offensive games, and off-ball use but who need time to put everything together.

  • @SanFranFan30
    @SanFranFan30 6 місяців тому +6

    I have a feeling Cooper Flagg and Ron Holland are going have similar draft year narratives and career trajectories. In a way they are both pretty similar profiles to Jonathan Kuminga, big athletic forwards/wings who always displayed an ability to get to the basket with determination, play with boundless levels of energy, but really lack the polish as shooters and focus with the little things that role players need to be impactful in the NBA without quick improvement or a considerable gestation period in the G-League as a rookie/sophomore. The raw talent is there but it will take some time for guys like Holland and Flagg to reveal who they really are on the court beyond their athletic traits and desire/passion for the game.

    • @FloorandCeiling
      @FloorandCeiling  6 місяців тому +5

      I like the Kuminga comparison for Holland and it's one that I have too. Even putting aside the obvious similarity of going to the G League Ignite, both are very athletic wings with two-way tools and some overall instincts but the general preference to score. That was a process for Kuminga to learn in the NBA, although with the caveat that he went to the Golden State Warriors which immediately expect(ed) to compete for the championship.
      In regards to Flagg, I'll have content on him coming up but he probably reminds me more of Jayson Tatum than Kuminga.

    • @SanFranFan30

      @@FloorandCeiling I just don't think Flagg is also polished as he's made out to be especially on the offensive end.

    Should have go to college instead of GLI and spend another year in there. Will develop late like Kuminga and Jalen Green, if at all.

      I think Holland's Ignite stint had some similarities with Jaden Hardy's. I didn't mind either of their choices to go to the G League, though.

      Potential all star or a Ron Harper. Talented wing could be valuable to a championship team

    • @mbwell
      @mbwell 5 місяців тому +4

      @@stanleed.harold5457 Nobody knows, which is very scary. It’s difficult to assess players that play games in a non competitive format and usually in an arena filled with only 15 people. The normal pattern is to allow for at least 4-years of development once drafted. Unless you’re Kobe or LeBron, there are no quick fixes. And for fans of lottery level teams, this outcome is devastating.

  • @hecb

    He reminds me of Isaac Okoro. He would be great for Charlotte.

    • @FloorandCeiling
      @FloorandCeiling  5 місяців тому +4

      I think he has more self-creation upside than Okoro, who was always going to play a complementary role in the league.
      Holland might ultimately become an ultra-role player of sorts, but I think there's a future out there where maybe his role becomes closer to a Miles Bridges type of wing (sticking with Charlotte).
