- Опубліковано 7 чер 2024
- Devin Carter enjoyed a breakout season as a junior, becoming big east player of the year and improving across the board. He's a 6'3 guard with excellent defensive upside and budding scoring abilities and is one of the safest bets to make a contribution. Son of former veteran guard, Anthony Carter.

*WELCOME TO THE SACRAMENTO KINGS!!!!!!!!!!!* 🟣🔦👑
It'll sound crazy because I feel like once he hit the NBA he went in a far different direction than most expected, but Carter reminds me a lot of Donovan Mitchell coming out of Louisville. Mitchell's offensive projection was pretty iffy back then, but he was a short SG with a combination of physical strength, crazy wingspan, and defensive playmaking skills that showed just enough offense to make you think there could be something more there.
Totally agree. Two played that could look totally different in NBA spacing
Good comp! I see it too!
For every Donovan Mitchell there’s a Davion Mitchell. I’m always cautious of these archetypes
@@G_WillPower I’d argue that Devin is more athletic (testing numbers agree with me) and has a better basketball IQ than either of these guys.
Odd that he also just got picked 13th, lol.
Light the Beam!
I appreciate your work man, it seems like you’re one of the few who’s interested in this draft class.
Could you do Scheirman next?
GG
Spurs typically value defensive guards. 8th pick might be a bit high for Carter but I expect the front office to show heavy interest
They also did draft Derrick White, this could be their second chance of getting a player like him that is aligned on Wemby's timeline.
I feel like 8th is just right for Carter, in the mock drafts I saw, he's at 9 so there's a really good chance he'd be drafted there
I do think 8 is a little too rich but this feels like a very Spursy pick.
Just pick Castle and Carter and call it a day, good night NBA
Castle and and Carter would be absolute dogs in the backcourt. I love it.
His timing is extremely high-level, allowing him to anticipate and react to plays with ease. He's incredibly flexible on the court, making him a threat from anywhere. As a defender, he's sticky like glue, able to stay attached to his opponents and limit their scoring opportunities. I think he would be a great fit for the Spurs at the 8th pick in the draft.
Derrick White is guranteeing Carter is lottery
Yup
He’s Heat culture
Great content, really appreciate your breakdowns
Love your vids they are like little gems on players profile
Another great profile👑
Now I get why you are so high on this dude. Absolute dog. His athleticism is amazing, how quickly he elevates for contesting shots. What a menace. You hate it when the other team has a guy like this.
His 3 pt percentage is actually 37.7%
Which is pretty decent
thank you for dropping this vid. been wanting to know more about this guy and ur vids tell me everything i need to know about a prospect
hey this is steve reporting from the big east reporting from grind never stops podcast from the 🎤🎤how's it going everyone:
Devin carter nba draft profile from 2 college seasons ago:
the junior from providence friar church ding dong⛪⛪
run the floor, watch the lob from midrange from15 feet, get the ball out of his hands, when you leave him open lower the hip follow through the middle of hole, 72% at the free throw line, 6 foot 2 guard at 195 pounds, now box out left and right at madison square garden home game vs st.John's for example posh alexander goes for a jumper at the left wing missed the shot ok circle carter on the left side, now carter runs the floor on the offensive end, meaning carter gets on the glass the point about rebounding after a missed shot get the basketball why 1 reason so on the offensive end run the floor. 72% at free throw line decent at the free throw line, but uses a lot of hands on the defensive end likes to play physical meaning get up at the opponent and get after the basketball and run the floor from defensive end and run the floor on the offensive end. carter is also about ball movement clark kellogg move the ball share the sugar.
1 word about guard devin carter on the basketball floor:
physical.
just ask posh alexander the big man joel soriano and shaka smart.
now devin carter is a guard at 6 foot 2 how would he fare vs bigs in a size mismatch at the circle at the restricted area just ask joel soriano and clark kellogg and jay bilas.
I appreciate the work!
I would not mind him at # 8 for Spurs
I wish my Pels were in position to draft him. I feel he is ready made day 1 to contribute significantly to a team.
Great breakdown! I am just subscribed to your channel 💯👍🔔
Could we get a Daron Holmes breakdown? Love the vids keep it up my man
He’s got a nice feel for the game
shades of josh hart
Good Comp!
already a better shooter and defensive prospect than hart
@@aggreykitila3483 i respect that take
Loved Hart when he played in Portland. His rebounding and hustle are legendary. His on-ball is not very pesky, though, and his shooting was always kind of crappy. It’s been fun watching him become a hero in New York.
But if Carter is that kind of dog he’ll be a fan favorite for years. He looks like a good one.
@@aggreykitila3483comps are never 1:1. It’s just a generalization of a similar player
Looks like some of the stats at 0:21 are wrong.
Love his game, hopefully he finds a great spot
I think the 3pt and ft %’s on the stat card are incorrect. I’ve seen 37.7% for 3pt and 74.9% for ft
Where did you get 30.6% from 3?
There is a mistake in the data slide: 3's persentage - 2.5/6.8 = 36.7% .
good for high volume and his difficult shots sometimes
Reminds me of a taller more athletic Jose Alvarado. He has much more scoring upside though.
I think aesthetics bias is getting to your head lol
other than being lightskinned and having long curly hair, they don't really have the same game.
@@hb-robo Maybe lol but their game is similar. Defensively they have the same intensity. Alvarado was also a pretty good scorer in college. 4 year guy as well.
@@dripsorrow5620 the role Carter will play in the NBA could be similar to the role Alvarado plays. But there is more of a scoring upside. People forget Alvarado could score in college
Future spur
Future Spur with the 8th Pick. 💯
Can u do Kyle Filipowski bro? Thanks
idk if this is crazy but idc, if I'm the spurs I'm drafting dillingham at 4 and carter at 8. I feel like that could be their starting backcourt for the next decade and they can get away with vassell at the 3 with sochan and wemby at the 4 and 5🤷🏾♂ especially since the thunder started fucking jdub at the 4 the whole season lmao
Great player, almost no flaws and great mentality. I think, his age and "role player aura" is the only reasons he is valued at the end of the lottery. He is probably the best guard defender of the class, great athlete, rebounder, he is already 38% shooter on almost 7 attempts/game and has experience being a primary score on an underwhelming team. Everybody sees Reed Shepherd, Rob Dillingham and Isaiah Collier higher on boards but are you sure they will become better players? None of them will become better defenders than Devin Carter and will be targeted on that end. All of them will probably be worse finishers at the rim, worse cutters, worse rebounders. Probably better 3pt shooters, but they will all struggle with adjusting to NBA length and will probably see it difficult to find an open shot. Payton Pritchard is one of my favorite players and true PG at the college level, but he still struggles to be a starting caliber PG at NBA and has become a role player. I think Devin Carter will excel in a 3/4th star role on a team with a solid 1/2st options (probably a forward), like Boston, Houston, Lakers or Miami.
I see him as a back up Josh Hart.
Great pick up, Monte Mcnair👑👑
good ish. I'll take him on my team any day.
Jrue holiday!
Looks like the most underrated player in the draft to me. Reminds me of Derrick white defensively, his offensive ceiling is higher to me than you’re giving it credit for. The providence team around him wasn’t very good, he’s gonna be a different player with NBA spacing. He needs to develop his left hand though! Everything is him going right, which makes me nervous / reminds me of kilian Hayes who I liked before the draft.
My high end comp for him would be jalen Suggs with long arms, obviously the age difference between those two prospect at their respective drafts is a major difference though.
def one of my fav players in this draft, he reminds me so much of Derrick White. Rumor is there's a team in the lottery that gave him a promise, I hope that would be the Spurs
Mock I saw said Memphis but I don’t know where he’d play. But maybe we get rid of smart.
Rhode Island out here!!( my home state)
This kid would do wonders in Miami or even in Sacramento/Toronto. He’s a mixture of jrue holiday and derek white.
Best of luck to Carter in the NBA. Hoping he ends up w the spurs at 8. ❤ from Friartown
How does he compare to Cason Wallace? Both are great defensive combo guards.
Cason Wallace can pass better, he is a way better rebonder and athelete, I guess.
Super high on this guy
i wont be surprised if okc draft him. seems like we always looking for an upgrade on the 2 spot and not drafting bigs. firstly we got tre, we needed tre with defense so we added cason, now we need cason with rebounding maybe we would pick him 😂
Kings u kno what to do
lol you called it
He's what they paint Bronny to be...except he has actual impactful production
Rent free
@@DEMI-sq5uf where at? 👀 I'm sick of paying
@@DEMI-sq5ufHe lowkey right
im getting Derrick White - tenacity on defense. My Spurs need to take a look at this guy
Offense is whatever but that defense is nasty!
That release / moon ball is tough to overlook. He's not getting off against length
It's reallllllly slow. And that release point scares me
Billy Donovan's future power forward
This kid is going to have Malik Monk as his mentor… welcome to Sacramento!!
We're building a dawg pound with those two and Keon.
Okay kings who did you pick? Lol
I think he can be a better shooting Marcus Smart
I love this kid I'd draft him
I’ve seen enough HEAT do the right thing 🤣
Imagine if the Spurs get Castle at #4 and Carter at #8. Two absolute defensive dawgs in the backcourt to complement Wemby's All World defense. Btw, Spurs just brought in both guys to work out vs each other.
Devin Carter can play for my team anytime.
Sacramento
Hope the Lakers can get this guy!
I see an athletic jose Alvarado
He shoots 37 percent from 3
That's what I thought!! His shot doesnt look pretty, but 37% is a MASSIVE difference than the 30% shown on screen at the start.
Teams drafting in the lottery need to make sure they don't over-think things with Carter.
Think of all the teams that passed on Haliburton because his shot *looked* funky and they didn't think he could get it off in the NBA.
Carter is a defensive menace, rebounded better than most bigs, he's highly intelligent, very self-aware, has been around the NBA his whole life, and..... his shot GOES IN.
I'm a Thunder fan, but if I was a fan of pretty much ANY other team.... I'd want to draft Carter.
Maybe I still want him in OKC and they can figure out guard rotations and minutes later. 😅😅
I need my Spurs to get him & Castle!
Assist/Turnover ratio is quite alarming 😳
Thats something that can be fixed
Want this guy on the hornets, would be a great fit with lamelo and Brandon miller
Come here after miami is trading for draft pick from 15th to potentially get in to top 5
Spurs at #8
Memphis
Yeah why are the shooting splits all wrong lmao?
I really wish spurs can pick him
He does not shoot 88% from the line - still love the prospect. Would be ecstatic if the bulls snag him at 11. See red baby and trade Lavine
Good 2nd round pick for spurs
In no year is he a second round. Good luck with that
he will never make it to second round. there are 5 different teams that seriously want him in the first 15 picks
Benjamin he is not gonna be second round.
spurs man❤
Come to Spurs😊
🦾
3p% is just way off
Derrick White 2.0
Congratulations Devin Carter on the NBA Draft!! The key word now is "Public Relations" Don't ever allow the words "Pulling up Pants" come out on National Television while being interviewed by a Woman. Big Fan
A little thick
Castle #4 and DC #8 for the Spurs. Trade Keldon since Castle is way better than him 😅
I HOPE LAKERS GET HIM AT 17 AND THEN TRADE FOR TOP 6-10 IN DRAFT TO GET CLINGAN.
Gary Payton 2?
Lakers please take him, he’s Josh Hart-esque
