    Regardless of Jaco's tone, I would say that the Ibanez won, mainly because I prefer the sound and feel of flats.

      Ibanez has its own charm, first fretless bass in my life. I kinda liked the P bass tone through mix, but it isn’t Jaco sound anymore 😄 thanks for subscribing!

    they all sound great because your technique is solid . well done. I love playing other peoples basses, sometimes you find a gem lurking about I'm sure you've played this assignment at a slightly faster tempo. Your tempo is relaxed and like a nice stroll in the park. You're kickin it girl !!

    Precision for me, thanks! Having bought a fret- Squier Sting model myself, it clearly is the best for me. The low end smoothness and sustain- all I need. The best bass I've played- about 300 EUR.

    The Ibanez is piezo only, right? Do you miss a regular pickup when playing it?
    Edit: also, how does the MIM hold itself up? Would you ever consider „upgrading“ to a MIA, or do you feel like that’s not necessary? Really enjoyed the video.

    • @meirbea
      @meirbea  2 місяці тому +1

      @@lowfrequencywizard hi! Ibanez is piezo only, right now it’s resting in the corner for months, a beautiful instrument, but I don’t play it very often… the MIM was quite cool, I sold it because I needed money for another bass. But I would say, yes, I would take MIA next time just to get the best out of the P.
      Thanks! ✨

    • @meirbea

      LaBella flatwounds standart tension. I didn’t like the stock strings on it, so I gave a try to LaBellas. Quite expensive, but if that’s a lifelong choice, then worth it.

  • @voxwah75
    @voxwah75 Рік тому +1

    The P seems the most unlikely, but turns out to be the best suitable bass for this job. The Marcus Miller misses low-end and organic tone, even for the used bridge pick-up setting and the Ibanez misses the natural colour also plus Jaco did play roundwounds and NOT flatwounds. So the P wins on being a Fender (with it's pure organic sound) and having roundwounds. The Mexican Fender jazz fretless should comes closest of course, but I wouldn't be ashamed to play Jaco on this player series P bass. You could play a little closer to the bridge to get more of the desired brightness. In my opinion the sweetspot of almost any P is where the pickguards ends and the body(lacquer) begins, between split pick-up and the bridge.

    • @meirbea
      @meirbea  Рік тому +2

      I agree about the P bass, there is something in that little machine. About Miller bass - I turned down low end on purpose to bring more mids up but it probably turned out too middy :D. Thank you for your review! Actually for Jaco tone the Jazz fretless with rounds will of course suit the most! And no other bass..

      Soul and groove comes when it’s needed :) mostly on my live performances. This i recorded for fun because I heard this solo bass arrangement and decided to learn it and then the idea for 3 basses also came! But of course - bass player’s main task is to hold a groove, not play solo lines

      @@jpb93360it’s okay! Different people - different opinions. It’s hard to make a statement about a bass player only from seeing one type of video and song. Of course I wouldn’t dig straight into someone’s account and say that this feels emotionless, but it depends if the people watching is a critic or music and artists enjoyer 😄
