My mom made tuna patties about once a month when I was growing up. Very similar recipe, although she fried hers in a cast iron skillet with about an inch of vegetable oil. Being she's from the American South we'd have fried potatoes, black-eyed peas and corn bread with them. Gosh that was a great meal! :)
My grandmother was born and raised in rural southern (Calvert County) Maryland. She too had a cast iron skillet. She'd use it to make the best fried chicken I've ever tasted. Her trick was frying it in lard. It came out wonderfully crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Add a side of kale or collards (slow simmered with a smoked ham hock) and some biscuits with butter and I was in heaven! After she died, Mom took it over. After Mom died, I kept it only for sentimental reasons. My wife's used it a few times, but she's from upstate NY. She's clueless about southern cookin'! 😄
Thank you for posting this! Mixing canned tuna with mayonnaise, pickles, e.t.c. is tasty but gets old very fast. I'll be giving this a try. :) Update: I thought I already reviewed this, but it is delicious! I’ve made it twice now - definitely two thumbs up! 😄
You mean, you've never had this before? It's so tasty! You can chop up an onion put it in there and a spoon of best Foods too. Really brings out the flavor. I sprinkle mine with corn meal before frying. Give them a slight crunch!🤗😋
i just made these for dinner. first time watching. i subscribed. really easy to follow recipe. such a chilled out video. thanks so much. it came out really good. i didn't know you should put them in the fridge! that made the difference! wow thanks again!
I made your tuna cakes. Used Albacore tuna, added dill and coated them in Panko bread crumbs. They were delicious! My children ate them all up and asked me if I'd make them again.
Tuna patties are really yummy. And you can make them very simple or you can add spices, finely diced veggies or whatever. Experiment with what you have or can afford.
Hi Todd I made these for tea tonight they are absolutely YUMMY!!!!! 😊😊😊😊 We didn't have mixed herbs do I put in some all purpose season and some garlic powder, will definitely be making again.
I just tried this recipe. The ingridients is not just easy to get, they are super cheap too. Tastes amazing! This might have saved my student food budget from sneaking into the black depths of frozen pizza!
Just been down with a throat infection. I have talked about it a few times on Facebook, be sure to have notifications on for my page so you don't miss out :)

My recipe for tuna cakes is tuna, crushed saltines, cream of mushroom soup, egg for stability, smoked paprika, (the salt is on the saltine crackers), cayenne, and a touch of cheese, parmasean is good if you want a bit more saltiness. Frickin love tuna cakes and my grandma used to make them all the time. I put the saltines in because of her.
Good video but I think your missing old Bay friend if you have never tried it you should in bmore MD we add it to everything but it makes the difference
uh complex carbs (you could opt for sweet potato) are the best overall energy source for the body. It'd be good for you to not propogate "low carb" as healthy when that's just bullshit. Most people treat low carb as an excuse to go high fat (the body still needs an energy source, unless you want people to be needlessly economical and, in fact, unhealthy by converting proteins into energy) whatever im done typing, just put a bit more thought into your comments. you have 500k subs dude
Looks like a great recipe. I hear you say 400 grams of Tuna and two tablespoons of mustard. The ingredient list says 200 grams and two teaspoons. Off to make them now using your video instructions.
I EAT A LOT OF TUNA FOR PROTEIN & I LOVE THE TASTE. I MISTAKENLY BOUGHT A LARGE QUANITY OF TUNA IN OIL INSTEAD OF IN WATER, SO I WAS LOOKING FOR A WAY TO USE IT WHERE THE OILY TASTE WAS NOT A FACTOR. THIS LOOKS LIKE THE THING I WAS LOOKING FOR. I GREW UP EATING SOMETHING VERY CLOSE MADE WITH CANNED SALMON AND I LIKE THAT SO THIS SHOULD WORK.
This is a similar recipe to one using canned salmon my late aunt used to make for me growing up. I always wondered if it could be done with tuna! By the way, the patties are good on a sandwich with tartar sauce!
Love this recipe. Thanks. Just had to advance the vid quite a bit. Over seven minutes seemed a long time for such a simple recipe. Just offering opinion/feedback. :)
You can do both ways but best to freeze then defrost overnight in fridge and then fry. If you cook then freeze. When you reheat in the microwave it will just dry them out.
Please what are the herbs. I know they could be anything! I am knew to adding herbs and I have no clue what to add for fish. I have a spice rack and a cupboard of herbs but no idea what to add. Herbs de provence?? see I have no idea!
Pretty sure there’s “mixed herbs” you can buy in the grocery store or AmazonI think that’s what he was talking about. However, I agree that he should have been much clearer when he dumped all those herbs in there. And, two years later and he still hasn’t clarified the issue when loads of people are asking about it. Seems a little bit careless on his part. Just my opinion.
Also, nutritional yeast and unflavored protein powder will sub for bread crumbs but I'd only use 1/3 cup total instead of 1/2 cup. Meaning, mix the nutritional yeast and unflavored protein powder and only use 1/3 cup to replace the 1/2 cup bread crumbs.
I have been making these for years. I do it differently, but kinda hard to mess up. Whatever sounds good to you probably will be. Mind end up tasting close to salmon pattys
@@simpleeasycooking Thank you. You put me in my place. I’ll just watch your videos, make the dishes myself and I’ll Shut-Up. Sorry. But again, thank you.
@@lesbutler273 No need to be sorry. Here in Australia a jar of mixed herbs is more popular. Depends on the country but its just like any other blend, for example you'll find a jar of Italian herbs. They are all pretty standard depending on where you live.
they reduced the ounces in the can and made no mention of it!! Most of us have caught on!!lol especially after the price increased too. paying more money for less product!!lmao

Add mayo to your patties to make them better

Haha the exact same reason I am here. Cold tuna salad is simple but I am ready for a change and warm cakes sounds like a good change from the same ol!

"Just take a taste" eats whole handful, that's gotta be sum good stuff!!
Tried this, added my own stuff. Tasted great and it's way more healthy than what I've been eating in the past
Hi Todd I made these for tea tonight they are absolutely YUMMY!!!!! 😊😊😊😊 We didn't have mixed herbs do I put in some all purpose season and some garlic powder, will definitely be making again.
Cooked these today and it was delicious and easy to make. Thank you.

Decent size patty size!
Thank you! Looks grand. 🐟
just saw your video. i imagine using mustard gives the tuna a unique flavor, especially when combined with the lemon zest. thank you for sharing!
Looks like a good way, Todd. I'm gonna try your method, for sure. Thanks for sharing !
What a great idea other than tuna salad. I'm gonna give it a go soon.

delicious. I just made me some with some rice. Going to start eating more tuna and fish plus vegetables for weight loss but not too much

Greg M. Me too am on my way to the stir now to get my tuna
Quick and easy, imma make this tonight!
Nice to see low carb/keto recipes. Thank you. Gonna give these a try.
I made the earlier this weak.. With mashed potatoes.. The kids love them😊
Sweet! Going to give this a try! Thanks for sharing!🙂🙃
They really look good, trying this tomorrow👍🏻😁
Thanks so much Todd! Will try these. Looks great!
you can bulk it out a little more by adding mash potato to the mix aswell.
Sure can! But i'm trying to keep it more healthy by cutting down on the carbs :)
celery and onion are good fillers!!lol
uh

Oh!!!! Good idea!
I would like to know the herbs you added. Looks very good.
Buy in supermarket mixed herbs. Any herbs use. dill, parsley, thyme, oregano, mint, coriander

Hi, Todd. Those tuna patties look fantastic. Why is lemon the most important garnish for seafood recipes? Have a good day, Todd.
Thanks and its like chips i guess, they just taste so much better with salt like fish does with lemon. Thats my theory anyway lol
And beer too
Todd I am loving your recipes but can u make some gluten free recipes please and thank you😁
Thank you!
How about some celery , spring onions and grated cheese .
Bruce Burns how about some 🥔
looks like a very good recipe if ur on a diet
This looks so delicious
Nice to make before a road trip
Do you think Panko would work just as well as the bread crumbs? Thanks so much!!
Panko are bread crumbs. Works just as good. Try it you will like it. Just need seasoning.
No. Panko is more for the 'just about to fry' part of the cooking. Use bread crumbs to mix in and Panko to coat.
looks great - and can be eaten fried or uncooked😊
Without the egg if not cooking of course
Do you eat raw eggs?
I love this channel so much
Big fan of fish cakes mate
Same! Best with salad
these are so good ,,thanks todd

Glad you're back, Todd :)
Peyton Slater the Hater Me too!
Bruh he dropped the lemon 😂😂😂
he also left a seed in there
Mixed herbs? Could you please explain this? What might those herbs be?
Looks good
I swear I saw a lemon seed in there still 🔎😂
I saw the seed as well!
So what? Lemon seed is healthy ,don't worry snob people ,you will not die from lemon seed.
You're looking good Todd!😃
great video...thanks
For batch cooking for future meals, do you cook them and then freeze or freeze them uncooked?
You can do both ways but best to freeze then defrost overnight in fridge and then fry. If you cook then freeze. When you reheat in the microwave it will just dry them out.
Thanks!
Believe in Jesus Christ and be saved from hell before it’s eternally too late if you haven’t already. Merry Christmas

Dill weed or ground dill seed is great with fish.
Thank for share this
Dear Todd, you just don’t toss in a bunch of of dry herbs without telling folks what herbs they are. Please tell us. Your patties look good!

Elise White Pork rinds are a good replacement for bread crumbs :)

What mixed herbs?
WHO TRIED THIS
I have been making these for years. I do it differently, but kinda hard to mess up. Whatever sounds good to you probably will be. Mind end up tasting close to salmon pattys

What if u don't like mustard lol
Mustard yuck,"Well that's one ingredient I'll be leaving out!!🙄
Wait, am I missing something? Am I the only one annoyed by “mixed herbs”? It’s a recipe. Identify the ingredients. Or, just say Old Bay seasoning.
A jar of mixed herbs are a blend of Oregano, Sage, Marjoram and Thyme

No Mayo??
no money shot??
There was a seed in there at 2:09 🤔
5 US cans!!lol
must be small cans! We have those smaller one but as you saw in my video we have larger ones two which work out much cheaper
they reduced the ounces in the can and made no mention of it!! Most of us have caught on!!lol especially after the price increased too. paying more money for less product!!lmao
I prefer to not cook with silicone
