Hello from the Netherlands . the metal shims are there to fill the space . those very large O-rings are only there as a seal to stop dirt/sand between the metal parts and keep the grease inside. the O-rings are NOT for padding! . which is a much more important reason that the sound is that when you hear the bucket it keeps hitting the inside of the bussing with the pin and making the hole egg shaped. I have always done this work as a dealer employee alone, only with a hoist. and here in the Netherlands almost no excavator has a thumb on it. Sincerely Hollandduck from the Netherlands
Nice Todd 👍. Just FYI the large rubber O-ring is a dust And dirt ring. Its main function is to protect the grease from getting dried out by keeping the dirt out. You would need more Metal or neoprene shims to take out more of the slop. Either way it sounds a lot better great job!
@@aaronsharp8857 Yeah you’re supposed to grease daily. I normally Greece twice a day the bucket pins. However sometimes things rip those rubber rings Then the dirt sticks to the grease and acts like sandpaper and just grind it out creating more slop in the bucket. Where I live is mostly sand I’ve seen it happen a dozen times
Todd, I believe you are like a lot of us, have to take "Vacation" to get stuff done around the home place... and I am the same way, sitting still when there is PM's to do on my equipment is just how it is, Wife has gotten used to my "" I am taking some vacation".... Lol enjoy you time off brother...
I have never taken a vacation to go lie on a beach somewhere. Planning something like this feels like a lot of work and stress to waste your time time. I take vacations to get things done around the house or other things that I can't easily get done in a weekend.
@@DigginLife21 thanks! You’re videos have been a big help. I’ve got a Cat 306 coming late October and I’ve been trying to soak up as much knowledge as I can before then haha
Sounds a lot better. I was going to ask what happened to the Mac, hadn't seen it in a while. Waiting to see a bull dozier or skid steer to show up next. :)
Just wondering if working 2 pins back and forth might have made this easier. 1 pin to hold the alignment and then push/pull it out during final assembly.
Just a suggestion, invest in some tools and a good welder, something like an SA200 or a miller bobcat 275 or bigger ... Trust me you are going to need it
Was going to ask how many hours on your machine? I see that bucket wear on a lot of UA-cam excavators. I love working on things that I can fix, but sometimes find I can’t fix it! LOL
Do you have a preferred grease? I've been buying stuff at tractor supply that almost turns to water when it gets hot and makes a huge freaking mess. I picked up a few tubes of lucas red n tacky at Advance to try.
I can’t believe I just read this, I too always use red and tacky #2, i had picked up a random tube of grease from tractor supply while on the way to a job one day and it is so thin and melts down so quick I thought I had a hydraulic leak. A tech from one of the main equipment dealers in my area had a grease suggestion, I will try to find out what it was and report back
Sounds a lot better. But remember how long we had to listen to Dirt Perfect with his bucket. Take care and have a blessed weekend and I'll see you on your next vidja. We're having a thunderstorm here in wilkes county now.
Whoever did your sleeves does nice work.
I did this to my Kx080. Extra set of hands would be nice. Bucket ears need building up now on mine. Good job!
Those bigger rubber washers are dirt protectors that go on the outsides of the eye holes for pin, there should be a grove for them to seed in

A lot better 👍 ..you should make a video comparison with a video clip from before the fix.
Sounds good. Hope u enjoyed your vacation.
Nicely done Todd.
Enjoy your vacation 👍🏼
Glad your enjoying your vacation!!! LOL
Really enjoy your videos!
Nice! I can't stand the clanky clank My 88's doing the same thing
Hope you enjoy your vacation.

Great video Todd. They gave me I oversized o rings from Deere for my 130 same way. No groove in my machine for the o ring so I just used steel shims.
Been binge watching your videos lately, and just noticed the artwork you’ve got! What shop do you go to?

Nice work, good to see you work safe. Pins are always an ART not just a shove or a bang with a bigger hammer.
Good vid todd! little fix it vids like that are fun
Awesome job, any maintenance is a lesson learned. Keep the channel going!
Yes, it is quieter . I would like to know about Your tattoos !!! They are cool !
Good job! Sounds better for sure!
Sounds better. Nice ink work. And is that a swarm trap I spied in the background? Enjoy your down time.
Good maintenance goes a long way. I nice job Todd...
Sounds better , might try to mess with my bucket tomorrow
"tapity-tap-tap" when you know he watches AvE and you hear it in uncle bumblefks voice. 🤣

You say “ I’m on vacation” like your court ordered therapist ordered you to take it. 😂
Amazing video 💯❤️ IT 5 ⭐'s glad you get some time off for a vacation God bless y'all from South Carolina viewer Later Tator
Sounds better 👍
Sweet Piece of Ink on your right arm todd,
I have a noise from my coupler I cant get rid of
Suns out guns out! Just look at the arms!
I've never seen rubber o rings before. I assume that's just a measure to keep more contaminates from the pins and bore??
Much better bro, no more clang.
Nice!!
Packing it back full of grease will help slightly aswell
I thought what was making the noise was your quick coupler lock pin. That is what rattles on my 35-6 but I bought a new one to install
Just a suggestion, invest in some tools and a good welder, something like an SA200 or a miller bobcat 275 or bigger ... Trust me you are going to need it
Sounds a whole lot better, maybe you can find your squeak now there is less rattle😕
Did not know you had full sleeves lol
Sounds much better
Excellent!!
i love when those quick 30 minute jobs turn into an all day job.

Run anything with 5% Moly and you’ll be good
Good job I know what you mean about another set of hands.
I wondered why you put the pin in before the thumb was in position 😩
a rattle is a hole lot batter than squeak
Oh my God I can’t stand a squeak!!! I’ve got one in that excavator I just CAN NOT find😖
I feel like machinery ownership is 75% maintenance, 25% working.

What the hell.... you don't have an electric impact gun!! They are awesome first thing I bought.
If Warren, from Western Truck and Tractor had pulled in with his service truck, this video would only be 10 minutes long 😁😂🤣
You have extra hands if you call!
