Bro, just wanna say I have so much love for what you are doing here. Its amazing to break down and see exactly how these classics were made all those years ago... fantatic stuff and I cant wait to watch more of your videos!
Hi Owen pretty sure the mystery loop is a break from either Norman Cook Skip to my loops or the Pascal Gabriel sample cd from that time. I've got them buried somewhere in a vault. I'll try and dig them out and let you know - haven't seen them in eons
Whaaaaa !!, what can i say. You smashed this up Big Bad and Heavy for sure !!. Enjoyable fun and educational. I'm double thinking if the pad was actually Roland JD at all now 😂😂.
Didn't optical engineer this tune? Maybe ask him about that drum loop Would it be possible to make that pad sound available for download, I've always wanted it
I've wondered where it comes fro for a very long time . As i said in my above comment i was sure it was a pad called , "Macho swell", from the JD800 think i maybe wrong now anyways its such a lovely smooth lush sound.
The exact pad is on either Jungle Warfare 1, 2 or 3 or 160db/260db Drum and Bass Interface. Can't remember which. It's definitely on one of them anyway.
Owen this is wicked - thanks so much. I'm going to ask (Frost) where Krust got that (mystery) break from and if I do find out I will comment; I thought it was Bobby Brown or Levert
Maidmoiselle mix.. the girl.. ‘first you say yes and then you say no, tell me to stop and then you say go. What kind of fool are you looking for?’ After I heard that mix I couldn’t go back to this original 😜😜
Yeah I was searching it yesterday and found it: Its Zero G Datafile III Track 81 one of the last Samples. You dont need to use it in full range. Just the first bits of it. Dont forget to pitch it in a Sampler!
Owen Palmer Nope but thanks! I’ll check it out. I do enjoy those time stretched breaks! Love the Mind of a Lunatic intro too by Predator. I’ve recently been tying to recreate some classic breaks but haven’t quite got the ear for it. I was trying to edit the Eddie Bo break to recreate In Complete Darkness but couldn’t quite get it right. Tried playing it half time and playing individual notes but still got stuck. I think there may be some Amen hits or other samples in there perhaps. Any tips or is it just practice (x1000 or so)?
It was all about the earlier Aphro stuff for me. Tunes like We Enter, Beat Boo Ya, Calling All The People & You Take Me Up, that he did as A-Zone or collaboratively with QED or Tony B as Aladdin or Amazon II, were killer compared to the Urban Takeover era.
That mystery break snare sounds like something from Michael Jackson tracks, pretty similar snare to smooth criminal just not the same groove on the hats
@@OwenTheGeek wow that was REALLY poor choice of words.. I meant deconstruct Goldie's track "Mother" from Saturnz Return..I was trying to be funny☹️ sorry my bad. Really like your videos mate.
these videos are life changing for a jungle fan!
Thanks! Imagine how much fun it was making them!
@@OwenTheGeek 1.33 Bobby brown.. Intro to don't be cruel?
I love these vids. It's an obsession knowing the original sample sources. This recreation is pretty much perfect mate.

Incredible investigative work!
That Sugar Bear think break was also used in the Remix of Charly from LH's demo tape, been trying to ID it for ages!
Hi whats the sample cd the pad came from :) ?
National curriculum material right ere
If only....!
Such a tune! Thanks for helping me understand it on a whole new level 25 years later!
Irresistible tune

That breakbeat you're looking for sounds a hell of a lot like Bobby brown - on our own....
WOW it actually does. Im thinking man that shxt is so random nobody is gonna kno it but u may have nailed it
i was thinking it was very new jack swing sounding....
I was going to say bobby brown!...
As soon as I heard it, I said that's Bobby brown to my wife and she said yeh it does..
It's not that! I looked HARD. Trust me, I tried all of the obvious ones! :D
What a wicked recreation - big up!
how have I only just come across your videos man. these are some of the best on UA-cam. big ups for all the content g
One of my all time Jungle / DnB faves!
I recognise that break at the 1:30 ish ill sift through my break collection so see if i have anything like it. Ill get back to you in a bit
any joy?
Could you send me the pad sound please?
It's on several classic sample CDs, including Zero-G Datafile Volume 3
Nicely done Owen! Big up!
Yo! Shout me!
loving these videos man. big up
Whaaaaa !!, what can i say. You smashed this up Big Bad and Heavy for sure !!. Enjoyable fun and educational. I'm double thinking if the pad was actually Roland JD at all now 😂😂.
Love these videos! Keep them up please
what are the names of these wicked old school sample cds??
Yeah man, would be good to get the full education on this
Best Service, Polestar Magnetics, E-Lab, AMG, Zero-G (Time + Space) plus the Akai and Roland series and the Future Music cover discs of the 1990s
These vids are great . Cheers
That break reminds me of ‘She Drives Me Crazy’ by Fine Young Cannibals.
Funny you mention that. Thats what one my suggestions was.
Adamski A. There’s just the drum break at the start of the song so just made me think of it straight away.
yeah same man @@DJBathtub
It's not that! Thanks for trying though :)
Just came across your channel and im glad i did fantastic
@owen palmer 1.33 is that the intro to bobby brown don't be cruel????
Love the think break
Frost just posted on Insta that he's back in the studio re-recording this. I've asked for the mystery break. 😂
I'm not holding my breath 😅
Fascinating video, thanks for making this.
respect dude, loving your work... thanks for sharing.
🔥🔥🔥
Love these videos, can't wait for some more!
More now coming
Love this track. keep these kinds of Vid up. thanks
The think break on this tune sounds like the one Dillinja used a lot.. where's the loop point in the original track?
Couldn't find it haha..
cheers

Pretty sure dillinja wrote this tune for frost...
can you do more of these please !!!

He did engineer it, yes.
This pad can be recreated on the Juno 106 and the Roland boutique JU-06. I've created it before.
It wasn’t optical it was Dillinja 😉
love these ....bless up👌👊💪
Thanks Shaun, more on the way
Owen this is wicked - thanks so much. I'm going to ask (Frost) where Krust got that (mystery) break from and if I do find out I will comment; I thought it was Bobby Brown or Levert
I thought it sounded like Bobby brown
Is their 2 versions of this song? I heard a version with a women singing sampled.
where did you get the pad from
I got it from Jamaica
@@OwenTheGeek awesome
No, for real, it's on Zero-G Datafile #3 IIRC
Mystery break sounds like Don't Rock The Boat (Dub Mix) by Midnight Star.
Thank you! Very close, but it's not the one...
thank you so much for this video
Maidmoiselle mix.. the girl.. ‘first you say yes and then you say no, tell me to stop and then you say go. What kind of fool are you looking for?’
After I heard that mix I couldn’t go back to this original 😜😜
I totally agree, but I can't sing like Yolanda! :p
Brings a tear to my eye, but I thought that was the lovers rock remix with h the girl singing.
Amazing video!!
Anyone know which track on the Zero-G Datafile 3 cd the pad sound is on?
Yeah I was searching it yesterday and found it: Its Zero G Datafile III Track 81 one of the last Samples. You dont need to use it in full range. Just the first bits of it. Dont forget to pitch it in a Sampler!
Owen you sir are an absolute leg end! Wavsharer that keeps on giving 🤪
" Cameo - Word up " intro both are similar including Bobby Brown - My Perogative ?
Similar sounds, but wrong pattern. Thanks for the suggestion though!
@@OwenTheGeek Could be edited, anywat I think it's Cameo, but Candy ua-cam.com/video/sn8KYD1Vco0/v-deo.html snare is absolutely the same
I see your last video was three months ago and I'm really hoping your just taking a hiatus. These are so educational!
Great channel, subbed!
That break has to be something New Jack.
Random but anyone know what the drum break used in I’m the F**k You Man by Wedlock is?!?
Did I already answer you on this? It's a timestretched variant of Michael Viner's Apache, I think.

Great to know how this tune was made up
Absolutely yes yes world dance massive
Smashed it again owen
Amazing, as ever
love that pad at 3:45
I'd be quite concerned if you didn't, Mark!!
Drum brake sounds like Fake by Alexander ONeal instrumental intro
It also sounds like Jermaine Stuart we don't have to take are clothes off
Can you recreate Aphrodite’s bass sounds from the mid 90’s please? Or better still one of his bigger tunes!
Pretty sure that's a simple low passed Reece/reese
A lot of those are just swiped from the analogue synth sections on sample CDs
@@OwenTheGeek Wow, really? I have always tried to recreate that bass from 'Bad Ass' etc but never been able to ;(
@@section23 I'm about 70% sure I have that one on a Future Music cover CD from 95 or 96

Would be interesting to see you do something like music box or another track from the v-Rec boys die/roni

this is epic!! thx :)
A pleasure!
Missing drump loop might be from Janet Jackson - Rhythm Nation
One of my favourite albums. Alas, the break isn't there. It's definitely that sorta vibe though, isn't it?
top stuff Owen
The other drum beat sounds like Janet Jackson - Nasty but with extra treble and the lows cut from it
Yeah, similar, but it's not the one
sick.
That mystery break snare sounds like something from Michael Jackson tracks, pretty similar snare to smooth criminal just not the same groove on the hats
Another cracking and deeply interesting video, mate! Could you ask JJF directly about the break you're looking for? He's super-prevalent on Instagram.
I doubt he'll know/care/remember
@@OwenTheGeek Oh! Hahaha ... OK
BIG 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Big!
That beat sounds like Straight Up by Paula Abdul, for real
Yeah, it's not that either.
@@OwenTheGeek keep up the good work though
Almost sounds like the begging of true faith by new order. Or something from an older electro r&b or disco band.
The break beat is fresh prince of bel air soundtrack!!! YOU KNOW THAT!!!
Link? 🤔
Sounds like cassanova by levert
It's not that one, but thanks for the suggestion
I love you!
Your good at these vids.
Global domination?
The loop sounds like from Janet Jackson's "Nasty Boys"
It's not that, but thanks!
Breakbeat could be Alexander O'Neil - fake
Do Goldie's Mother...go on then!
