Hi man luckily enough my older brother has handed this down to me as he got a newer m1 macbook. Im thinking of buying an 860 evo 512gb ssd for it. Would you say its worth it like is it still decently powerful for just simple 1080p videos and everyday web browsing?
@@cruiseedwards4657 it’s worth upgrading your ram to 16gb which gives a 8x boost to every google chrome task. And get that ssd. With 16GB and a ssd, your mac is gonna be super fast
@@iamrxckky It’s absolutely effing garbage. Do your own research and stop watching videos, paid by Apple. If the new model is far inferior to what it replaces then you skip it and move on. Having the money to buy something superior, but choosing to buy the inferior model is another way of saying this is how I wasted my money, don’t do the same. Just think a iPhone 7 plus, a iPhone X and a 10.5” iPad pro are all more powerful than this. If you are looking at an iMac consider buying a 2012-13 for cheap with the highest GPU offered and your video editing experience will be far superior to this.
Get a Samsung T5 external SSD and install OSX on it, No more beachball, day and night difference compared to using the internal 5200 RPM drive. ( I'm on a late 2013 iMac 14,3 )

The Lacie Rugged Thunderbolt drives are probably the better solution as the thunderbolt connection enables trim support.

It’s a bit weird that this supports Big Sur but that the vastly more powerful Late 2013 version (I have the 750m one) isn’t.
I have this mac and it is cool.
2012-2020 imac is doest have diffrent desing and the diffrent only on the hardware but on 2020 imac have an hole to upgrade your ram
