    I'm getting my son an Epiphone Dot 335 with a Marshall amp for his 14th birthday. If that doesn't earn me a World's Greatest Dad coffee mug for my birthday, I don't know what will. LOL!!! The one concern I had was that several musician friends told me how great it was as a Jazz guitar and all the demos I'd seen up til now just sounded like old guys playing a solo gig in a wine bar. I'm glad to see that it also has good distortion sound as well since my son is mostly into hard rock and metal.

      ***** Music has always been a big part of my life. I never played an instrument, but my mother wasn't constantly telling me to "turn it down" whenever I cranked up the huge stereo in my room that I bought with my first tax return as a teenager. So... When my oldest son expressed interest in playing guitar, then proved it with a borrowed starter setup, it was just a matter of finding the right one at a decent price then waiting for his birthday. The fact that he has similar musical tastes as his ol' man doesn't hurt either. LOL!

    Nice one mate, I'm getting mine from G.A.K. in Brighton for £279.00, it's going to be my 65th birthday present to myself in july. It'll be my FIRST EVER new guitar, always had secondhand ones before, now I'm gonna spoil myself for a change, instead of my kids and grandkids !
    Keep playing mate and all the best to you!

  • @KLguitarcover
    @KLguitarcover  11 років тому

    thanks !! it's not a casino bye the way :) it's a 335 semihollowbody guitar. It means that there is a block of wood ( i think maple ) runs through the center of the body.

    Nice, I have 2012 model, Dot's are great guitars, I play mine a lot more than I do my Gibson Les Paul ! I run it through a Peavey Classic 30 all tube amp when I need to get loud and when I don't want to bother the neighbors I run it though a Roland Cube 40, when I run through the Roland I also run it through a good EQ because you just can't get the tone right through a solid state amp alone., but I get by ! lol

    Bigdaddy a guitar is just a tool man they will play anything especially if you pair it with the right amp. Epiphones are fantastic and they are a great platform for modifying I'd replace the pickups because the 490rs are pretty weak and get it setup by a Luther or guitar tech. That's the most important thing

    • @susancallahan9778
      @susancallahan9778 9 років тому +3

      Wrong- these are still Humbucking pickups and way more powerful than single coil Strat pickups (I am a Strat Lover) and they make wicked overdrive and distortion pedals and amp sims that replicate powerful Marshall JCM 800's and Mesa Boogie Amps these days- better than at any time in history- we have the technology, these pedals will shred your ears off and can really hurt you!

      The Epiphone dot (es335) is a great guitar that plays smooth. The neck i a little chunky . But you sure can play fast on it. Ive modded the guitar with a bigsby b70. Could recommend it :)

      hi mate. i really suggest you go and buy it in a store. Theres no way of you knowing whether you are going to be comfortable with it without trying it. im going to a guitar store on saturday and trying an epiphone g400 pro, an sg special and this one. almost certain im going to buy this one but you never know. and personally, i wouldnt want my new guitar being chucked in a postal van and left on my front door step.
