I prefer the Casino in looks and sound, with the feedback being a bonus.
👍🎸
Yes, that's what John Lennon thought too. One reason he stuck with it until the end.
I have always said, if the casino was good enough for 3 of the Beatles, then it’s good enough for me!
🎸👍
and two rolling stones
They weren't made in China back then.
@@BeeRumblin13 And we aren't the Beatles either 😂
I have the es-335 pro in red….love that guitar! Never wanted a semi hollow or hollow body before. That guitar really spoke to me. As a full time bass player….I am tempted to move full time to guitar because of my epiphone! Love it!
nice!
My understanding is that the Casino has the trapeze tailpiece because it's a true hollow body and doesn't have a center block to mount a stop bar to. that's also why it feeds back more, the center block was introduced to the ES 335 to absorb vibrations and limit feedback.
🎸👍
It's also why Casino sounds much louder acoustically

Your thumbnail game is slipping. I can't read those words behind you.
I tried out a Grestch 335 style and wasn't inspired. So I bought a kit... After watching your channel for a while, I'm inspired to build and modify/upgrade my own...
I bought a 335-Dot in 2017, and finally replaced the pups with Lollar LWs. Huge difference in tone - I always felt that the stock pups and electronics were muddy. I also replaced the volume/tone controls with better components. The playability of the epi 335 is fab, and now my tone is awesome, too!
Pups.
I like the looks of the Casino way more. Not a big fan of the burst on the E 335, but that's just a personal thing. I'd have to go with the Casino in this case.
yes, get a case in this case
I really appreciate the colateral humor. Thanks you very much for keeping up the good mood along.
Always!
I got the Epiphone es 339 in 2020 when the inspired by Gibson line was released.. incredible guitar at any price point...killer tones from the probuckers cover so much sonic ground ... impressive build quality and sunburst finishis flawless
nicely handcrafted/assembled video landon
ES-335 for me because of the upper fret access. The fully hollow Casino neck joint is at the 16th fret to probably prevent or minimize neck dive.
could be 😊
It's the hollow body construction. The neck is not attached to a center block like a 335. There are a few "long necks" out there where the body joins at higher frets. The Heritage H530 for instance
I have the Marty Schwartz 335 and it’s impressive. Epiphone has really stepped up their game. Pickups sound great, hardware & build quality are great, and for a fraction of the cost of a Gibson.
Love the humor! Great video
Glad you enjoyed it!
These videos are gold (the aliens made me say that). I would love both, though I have the Epi ES-335 Pro Custom Shop in blue. It's not quite the same as your blueberry burst but probably pretty close. I freakin' LOVE that guitar. I got it as a Christmas gift. MIND. BLOWN.
I'm not saying it's aliens, but it's aliens
Great video as I am deciding which one to buy
Glad I could help
Think I'll start with the casino
Just play it! 😂 I don't have either but that turquoise casino and your natural one both look awesome!!! 😍
First time I remember really seeing an ES 335 was when B.B. King was featured in a Guitar Player Magazine. F Holes always remind me of Classical instruments and my grandfather teaching me violin.
I think it was Back to the Future for me. maybe that was a 339
I have both but my ES is the sunburst reissue with 58 voiced pickups with the chunkier neck and the old style ..I think yours is the 60s reissue style. Casino will always be my number one as a singer songwriter but for recording I like having the 335 range and sustain. The 335 really sustains for days without feedback..I have the worn ebony Casino with CTS pots...the Casino I can dial in great rock, jazz or even acoustic guitar sounds with....two days ago I unplugged my 335 and the input jack fell in the guitar body...I fished it out and learned a trick....if you put a long length of string through the jack with a button tied on the string in the middle to hold it you can pull the jack right back into the hole it came out of....be sure to check that nut on the jack as mine got loose without me knowing it and it is a trick to put it back in. Cheers.!
A couple of years ago I picked up an Epiphone Joe Pass Emperor II-Pro. I think it blows either one of these out of the water. Obviously, I'm pretty much alone in my opinion because Epiphone quit making them in 2015 and they're still available at reasonable prices.
I like that the Epiphone 335 changed the style of the headstock. The casino is awesome with the p90s. Great video! ❤
Epiphone will always be Gibson’s older brother, and its history is perhaps the most interesting of any guitar brand”: Celebrating 150 years of Epiphone
I love the feedback! I’m a big fan of using controlled feedback
I appreciate your feedback feedback
That alien segway had me crackin up 😂 glad to see folks with sone personality
Love the Thumbnail xD
Thoroughly enjoyed and no broken ribs
I’m genuinely happy your ribs are not broken
I want the 335 because of the colour! Also I already have the Casino.
The non faded Casino doesn’t have CTS pots and I found the original non pro p90s to be quite hot. Measured the resistance and they were nearly 12k.
I got some Lindy Fralins as an upgrade. Left the pots alone because it was just too hard trying to change them. They work well though
great reviewing, what about to Sheraton? I wanna pick casino because uniqueness but wondering about which one has more quality..
I love both, but there’s something about the hollow body, single coil Casino. It’s clear and resonant, never muddy.
the Casino is my fav
Hi, I've got the 335 Pro. I've never tried the Casino but I did covet a true Hollow body. Now, having scen your video I'm glad I scored a great deal on a 335 Pro.....1 the Pro features al nico humbuckers with individual coil splitters. This lets me set a single coil tone for backing parts and slam down the volume when I'm looking to cut through.....2. I'm a finger style player and thinner necks cramp my style....3. That cutaway on the 335 really feels wonderful up high, because this guitar really comes alive on the higher frets such that you find yourself chording way higher than you would on other guitars. I also play a strat and chords are there, but I can't have them......
On the other hand, besides the lightness of the casino I agree with your assessment of the tone of the casino. It sounds wonderful and John certainly does beautiful work with it on the rooftop concert.
If I had no guitars it would be a tough choice
But I have guitars so would go with the one most different, in my case, the Casino.
(Primarily for the P90s)
The trapeze tailpiece makes a difference in how I perceive the sound & feel, so that could be a factor for some
When I play a 335 I tend to play like I do on my own guitars, on a Casino I play a bit differently
I haven’t played the Epiphone ES-335 before so this video is really all I have to go off of, but I’ve played several Casinos before, and they all sounded and played amazing. Something about the hollow body and the higher output p90s just works. The only thing I don’t like about them is the 16th fret neck joint, but that’s pretty much it.
How ya doin, Landon? When you play each guitar standing up with the guitars using the same-length guitar strap, when you play a C-chord on first-position of the fretboard on which guitar is your fretting hand farthest away from you? I'm thinking it's the 335 because the fretboard's neck meets the guitar's body at a higher fret.
ES-335 (Cherry Red) would be my choice for my style of play and ability. Were I a smoother player (as in Jazz guitar) I might pick the Casino.
I'll take the Riviera right next to them, personal preference
I own both. Glad that I do.
3:34 was the perfect opportunity to show us the difference in full length...how much shorter the casino headstock is compared to the 335...
I have the es-335 in the raspberry tea burst, I love it, i cant imagine i would like a Gibson more! I have a tele as well and of my two electric guitars..my tele and my es-335 are my two favorites!
nice!
Always wanted to try the Epiphone ES-339 semi-hollow body with the P90 pickups that they had out a couple years ago, but I never bumped into one.
that would be cool!
I thought you were kidding about the feedback with the casino, but I went to my local music shop to try it out and as soon as I started strumming away the casino told me I sucked
I never joke about feedback. I'm dead serious
I have an Epiphone Lucille which is basically a 345 and I love it
Good point about the fret reach on both guitars. Players with shorter arms will have just a bit more struggle playing the ES-335 neck that sticks out of the body further. My Cassino's reach seems just right.
Pickup preference: I used to own a similar red Epiphone many years ago with humbuckers. Didn't like the muddy sound at all and traded it off. I'll take the P90s any day. With pedals, you can make a single coil as dirty as you want, but you can't make a humbucker clean and crisp.
I think they’re both great. I prefer the 335, having an inspired by traditional pro with coil splits I get single coils as well.
“words behind me” mans got a great sense of humour and i like it
I got the ES 335 in the Blueberry because they taste better than raspberries. I like the Brighter sound of the sounds almost like a Gibson. If it had the Gibson parts and woods it would have the Gibson price and I would not have it. This way I get more guitars.
Have you done a deep dive video on these guitars? It would have been useful if you'd mentioned it if you have 😂
I have a Casino coming soon. I got the CME exclusive worn sunrise orange. Mick from That Pedal Show upgraded his Casino with a new wiring harness and pickups, and I will do the same.
My Gibson ES-335 is my best guitar, hands down. It's growly and woody and warm.
Nice!! I've seen that upgrade video. so much work!
The highest notes on the fretboard of the 335 are easier to reach because the neck's not set into the body as deep as the cassino, ..which also feeds back because it doesn't have a center block.
I’ve got the Epiphone Casino 1992 Peerless and Seventy Seven Exrubato made in Japan. The neck of Exrubato wider than Casino. A little, but a prefer wide neck.
Nice guitars;nice demonstration;Thx!Both are sounding better than expected.btw;i bought a Shreaton 2,blonde!?I best condition and with a highworked Case and i love the 2004 crafted in Korea,a very good sounding epiphone for 250 bucks;maybe i will change the pu.s next time! But Gibson 57 standard set in gold is not to buy here in germany this time......will see!Thx for the video!
I've got both (older Casino and Dot) and a Gibson, so am I a winner?
I have the Epi 335 in Blueberry burst just like you do and am looking to add a Casino, just not sure which one. There's the Coupe, the regular one, the Worn and there's one that is a couple hundred bucks more than the others (not sure why). Decisions, decisions. Your review was great but I'm not sure it helped me decide. Help!!!!....I'll figure it out, maybe?
🎸👍😁
Recently I bought a 335 and quickly reolized why the 335 is the most versatile guitar on Earth. It needs no mods, its just "right on" right out of the box. Mine is the gold color and I installed a Bigsby as I do on most of my guitars. I have everything from a Gibson Johnny Smith(no Bigsby of course),Les Paul Standard, Gretsch Duo Jet, Epiphone SG, 2 Fender Strats, 60's style Telecaster and few others plus many trades over the years. I even had a1960 white Gibson SG(US Air Force - Spangdahlem, Germany) and a1966 Gibson 335 after I got out in 1966. The 335 will work with any venue, I repeat venue. It's one guitar purchase you won't regret. That's my two cents.
Gary Flagg Buffalo, N.Y.
I like your videos because you are knowledgeable and a great guitar player, but also a Canadian Ron Linvingston.
Ha thanks!
SUBBED!🇨🇦
welcome!
I need a semihollow guitar , i´ve been analizyng three options: Epihone es335, ibanez Artcore AS73 and Gretsch electromatic 5622, i dont know what to do.
I have a few Epi guitars. One of my 335s I replaced the pickups with Seymour Duncans and it smokes. The other I left stock. My Casino I left stock and one of my Broadways I left stock and the other I added Seymour Duncan’s and better pots now it sounds like a Gibson L5
I just last week traded a Schecter PT Pro for a 2020 Epiphone '61 SG Standard and a 2000 Squier Strat with new Tex-Mex guts. I haven't put the SG down since, at least temporarily preferring it to my Fender MIM's. Too many QC issues with Gibson-proper for me to even consider one any time soon. These newer Epiphones are excellent though.
🎸👍
Landon... you're a treasure. Your humour, or style, reminds me of a young Bill Murray. Really, really, good timing.
I've got the worn ebony version. One can see the grain through the matt spray. The guitar seems very alive and easy to play. It's also light as a feather and nice to hold. The pickups are excellent. The tuners work well. It's a stripped down guitar, much cheaper than the other epiphone models. I got mine... mint, but used, for only two hundred dollars! It's already become one of my favourite guitars.
cheers!
5:00 Casino sounds like the Beatles & the 335 sounds like Oasis. It's a no brainer!
.... no.. you were right the first time... buy both!
😱🎸👍
👽 They’re out there🛸
Interesting approach to videos. Looks good. Refreshing opinion without fake enthusiasm eg "That is soo Awesome". 🤮. Take Care, Best Regards and Best Wishes!
keep it real
335 for me, but my budget says be glad for my decent Harley Benton. I'm sure it doesn't hold a candle to either guitar here, but it'll do.
HB makes some solid gear for sure
the feedback on the casino to me seems like more of an opportunity rather than a concern
Had the Casino. Didn’t hate it, but didn’t love it. So rules are rules, got rid of. Do have a Sire Larry Carlton H7 335 which I absolutely love.
that's a brand I hope to check out some day
I think a closer look of the ES-335 is in order.
that's not a bad idea

Landon ,please help! i have an Epiphone 2014 to 2019 Es 339 p90 pro. I have always wanted a red 335 .Should I be happy with what I have ,or trade to get a basic epi 335? Your opinion is greatly appreciated !!
go with your gut!
@@landonbailey Well , there we go ! Thanks !
Actually... I prefer the Epiphone ES-339 and Casino Coupe. Both have smaller bodies and fit me better. Also, the neck on the Casino Coupe joins the body at the 19th fret, just like the 335 & 339. So access to those higher frets is better. Plus the smaller bodied guitars are less expensive than their 'full-bodied' counterparts. So that's a win, too. Well, for most of us basement rockers, anyway. I 'spose if your a multi-billionaire it wouldn't matter all that much. (But then they'd probably be buying the U.S. made versions anyway, wouldn't they? I mean, I would... if I was a multi-billionaire.) But I'm not even a multi-thousandaire. And I still have to eat. So it's something to consider... I guess. (Have you seen the prices at McDonalds lately?)
How about the Sheraton? Isn't that a step up from the Epi Es335?
haven't tried one
I love looking at those guitars but big bodies aren't for me. I don't even own an acoustic. My sub-par couch playing prefers smaller bodies:-)
they make headless guitars. they need to make more body-less guitars
Maybe a 339 would be better?
@@landonbailey I'll stick with my fully customized player grade Mustang. It's just Smurfy:-)
@@mine1380 I did a setup on my buddies Eastman 339 an amazing handmade guitar. But I still found myself struggling with comfort:-)
I prefer the Casino. Looks more balanced. Anyone want my 335?
Thanks for saying "...headstock thing with Epiphone AND (my emphasis added) Gibson headstocks."
(Full disclosure: I'm not young, and I've never known anyone to snap the noggin off a Gibson. Epiphone, once, but he was intoxicated, and walked through a door.)
Oh, and Kalamazoo f-hole paint was always a little...
laid-back. Looks kinda vintage
Acoustically, the blueberry one sounds like AM Radio. LOL I prefer the sound of the Casino acoustically, but I love the look of the blue one better. It might feed back more because the pickups need to be wax potted or maybe because they are pretty hot. Can you play music through your phone against them and it come out of your amp? Can you scream into them and your voice come out of the amp? They'd need to be wax potted to eliminate that.
I think the blue one sounds more like a solid body acoustically.
@@itchyvinyl Yeah, it's a little quieter.
The feedback is due to one being fully hollow (the Casino) and more resonant whilst the other (the 335) is semi-hollow with a centre block inside (designed to reduce body resonance and, therefore, feedback)
I have a Epiphone 335 Pro, natural finish, it is very versatile, but kind of big. A 339 splits the difference between these two guitars and might be a good option.
nice!
Landon has this rare ability to mix useful info sharing with non-patronising flippancy that enables you to take him seriously and not take him seriously at the same time. A rare gem of 'infotainment' !👌

I’ve just bought me a casino. I’ve got some lollars p90. Should i put them into the casino, take out the trad p90?
Do you like the current tones?
@@landonbailey yes and no….i really loves the guitar, but i think it would be amazing with lollars
Yeah I don't like guitar but your tongue in cheek humor is fun.
I bought the Epi P93 Riviera. It is measure for measure an ES body. I think it is much better than the Sheridan and the Casino both of which I played extensively (sorry L+M) before my final purchase. The Casino was nice but it is a hollow body and unless things have changed, the buzz from under and above the strings was too much. The Sheridan was also good but it was the three P90's of the Riviera I loved and the Bixby. IMHO if you want that ES look there are so many size equivalents that don't cost a lot of money.
Thanks for sharing! 👍🎸
The Casino tuners are naff - suggest upgrading to Gotoh SG301-MGT as they feel much nicer. ;) Use a reamer to make the holes bigger - easy to do.
have the blueberry Burst....real good.
If I could get the ES-335 in a natural finish of the Casino I would get one.
Sandpapers what Mr Lennon used to do that.

Casino has a trapeze because it's a true hollow body; stop bars require a center block.
🎸👍
I want both Epiphones..
do it! Nike
lol hand crafted on earth! Couldn’t agree more.
I usually end up getting both.
that happens 😝
Between the two I'd go for an SG ;-)

I like the Casino more because it is hollow and I can accidentally drop more picks down the F-Hole.
I like Rivera
Both
335 sounds more pro and full of all frequencies,AMAZING!!!
the casino is a hollowbody. the 335 is semi-hollow, it has a center block to mount the tailpiece.
ah makes sense! didn't think of that. cheers
It has been said that you will never be able to intonate a Gibson guitar properly until you've broken and fixed the headstock/neck ... twice :)
You are my favorite music weirdo!
I agree
the sound difference is probably p90s vs humbuckers.
skip both of them and get a Gretsch or a Tele thinline.
Tele thinline one day!
I love my es-335
I don't have one
