Thor had been directed by Shakespearean actor Kenneth Brannagh, whom younger viewers know as Professor Lockhart in Harry Potter 2. This was directed by Taika Waititi who also played rock fighter Korg. Funnier, but Thir was also dumbed down a bit.
Fun fact: The “he’s a friend from work” line was actually created by a child from the Make a Wish foundation in who was visiting the set. They loved the line so much that they used it and now it’s become an iconic line!
In the first 2 Thor films, they mention worm holes. After Age Of Ultron, Hulk accidentally passed thru one. Planet Sakaar is surrounded by them. Since Banner has been stuck in Hulk mode for several years, Hulk’s vocabulary has improved like a toddler learning new words everyday.
10:05 It's not an umbrella, its Mjolnir disguised as an umbrella. They do not explain it properly but Thor can do a little magic as well especially changing his outfit and disguising himself. Or its just simply Loki's magic.
It's a nice reference to "Donald Blake", who would turn into Thor if he struck his walking stick on the ground. One of my favourite Easter Eggs in the MCU.
My favorite funny moments are Loki falling for 30 minutes, Thor’s hilarious scream, Korg saying “piss off, ghost” then kicking the wall, Loki getting his revenge saying “that’s how it feels,” and Bruce’s voice changing with his veins turning green when he said “made me a little weird.” Fun fact: Taika Waititi the director of this movie also portrayed Korg.
The first time I saw Bruce land with a splat on the Bifrost had me laughing so hard I could barely breathe for five minutes. It was that weird, silent laughter too, and I think it got to the point the wife was going to call for help. It was just so unexpected it totally subverted every expectation anyone could have had for that scene. But the whole movie was a crack up, from hearing that gentle Kiwi voice coming form Korg, to his frequent rock, scissors, paper jokes. On a touching note, Thor's line about Hulk being a friend from work was added in after a Make-A-Wish kid suggested it.

Don't feel bad Mrs. October, we all love your reactions - you still have THE BEST LINE in ALL your videos, in LOTR The Two Towers - "His speech gets a F" - I still laugh at that one when I remember it!
You guys are now in the best part of the MCU, phase 3 is so strong to this day and this movie is deffo a cult classic. Can’t wait for you guys to see more of Hulk and Thor together
A lot of people didn’t think the amped up humor really suited Thor and this is overall when humor became more of an elevated concept in Marvel movies in general but I think this worked really well actually. We got to see a side of Thor that hasn’t been shown before and there was no amount of action lost. I think the balance was great between the dramatics and the action. I think also having Hulk/ Bruce Banner be a huge part of this film also made it soar to one of my top favorites. I always enjoyed the bits and pieces of them together in movies before now, but you can clearly tell that Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth have such great chemistry. Ragnarok Hulk is my favorite version of this character because he just seems so intelligent, and like you said, while he was running from things he also kind of found a place that appreciated him for awhile and that bit of character development was definitely not expected. Cate Blanchett of course KILLED it as Hela. One of the best and most ruthless villains of Marvel. Though she didn’t go through much of a struggle until the end it was definitely Cate’s acting that made her memorable. I enjoy every scene she’s in, she stole it every time. Loki is one of those characters that despite being labeled as a villain is really hard to hate. Your right about his motivations. He’s never a true villain unless his goals don’t align with whoever he’s with at the time. Making a bargain or plan with him means that there’s a risk he might find something better along the way and drop you like your a hot pan. The ultimate Anti-hero of Marvel. Most fans love him though because of his theatrics. No matter what side he’s on his ego always has to be stroked, he wants attention and he wants to be seen as cool, even if what he’s doing is technically the right thing, it’s mostly for self-centered reasons. It works because the character has forever gained a cult following of fans that will defend him even when he’s doing the worst things imaginable. Also.. Jeff Goldblum is a legend. I don’t think anyone expected him to show up in this movie but I’m glad he did because I enjoyed every minute of his performance. 😄
Fun Fact: In Norse Mythology Hela (Her name is actually Hel without the a) isn't Loki and Thor's sister, she is actually Loki's daughter and basically Thor's cousin since Loki is Odin's sworn blood brother. Also the wolf that Hela revived is most likely Fenrir, her brother and one of Loki's sons.
This Sequel was definitely Influenced by the "Guardians of the Galaxy," to be More of a Space-Adventure Comedy...and it absolutely worked!👍 This is Thor's BEST Movie EVER, and I Love it so much...💖
Best part of this movie is Hulk ragdolling Thor like he did to Loki in the first Avengers movie. I find it hilarious though that that's the same actor who played Julius Caesar on Xena: Warrior Princess playing Skurge, Karl Urban Two points: 1. Loki looks DAMN good in Earth clothes 2. Hulk's mental capacity depends on how Bruce transforms. If he does it willfully, like in the Battle in New York, he has complete control over himself and he speaks more clearly. But if he gets triggered into changing by something outside of his control, Hulk will be a living battering ram with, as Tony Stark once said....with *BREATHTAKING* anger management issues.
Fun fact, Korg was voiced by the Director whos name I'm not even gonna try to spell but ya that guy. The movie was a bit silly maybe too much in some parts but was overall pretty good. I loved Hela she's such a badass.
@@TheOctobersReact Did u recognize that Hela was also in Lord of the Rings? She was an elf, forgot her name, but she was the one who gave Frodo that vile of whatever that stuff was.
4 minutes in and you guys are non stop laughing, can’t wait to see your reaction to the next two Avengers movies! Love the reactions guys and can’t wait for you to see the next scream movies
So the great thing about you watching this after it came out, by a few years, you can be genuinely surprised by Hulk. When it came out he was in previews and all over the posters too. You got to be surprised by his entrance. :)
You absolutely cannot watch Loki the show yet bc it contains MAJOR spoilers but if you don’t love Loki by the time you get to it. You’ll love him when you start watching the show. One of my fav shows made in the past few years Your gonna love the next movies, coming up on infinity war
8:10 It makes sense why Thor would think Loki became a business card..You see..We know Loki is a shapeshifter, illusionist and a prankster..and as we learn from this movie..He once tuned into a snake and stabbed Thor as a child
This is one of the biggest steps forward in Loki's story, and a huge part of why he is so well-loved by many, many people. The whole thing about him is that, yes, he's a trickster, but as Thor says... he has the potential to be so much more than just that. The trouble is that he's never had the opportunity to do positive things and be appreciated _as himself_ for doing positive things. He's been starved for validation and respect, and that is the kind of thing that can legitimately turn someone into a villain. If they aren't going to be given what they truly need, they'll take everything that they can. But Loki... can be so much more than that.
I remember something about Mark (Banner/Hulk) accidentally spoiled movie when he forgot to turn off his phone live stream in movie theater so every one got spoiled the first few minutes of the movie. Mark and Tom (spiderman) are the two that always slipped and spoiled their movie to social media to a point that Marvel have to make a lot of fake scripts so the actors can't figured out which one so not to accidentally spoiled stuff.
i love that song but i literally just know the little scream and going to the land of ice and snow lol and sailing your ship to new lands now i need to look into the lyrics
My fav Movie no cap.....and This one has everything like for real full of comedy , actions , great storyline , and acting is amazing as always . watched it in the theatre in 2017 i was in 9th standard and its like a total package of everyting ,,..... i was waiting for u guys to see this reaction buddy....and it was a great time i really enjoyed a lot rewatching it with u .... love u guys 💖
Also, since y’all recently finished the Lord of the Rings, Skurge is played by Karl Urban who also played Eomer of Rohan, leader of the Rohirrim, nephew of King Theoden and brother of Eowyn.
Did they ever give her a name at all? Other than "Scrapper 142"? They just call her "Valkyrie", which isn't her name, it's her title or rank or former job.
Sir Anthony Hopkins (Odin) was told by the Director, that since this was his last appearance in the MCU, to let go and have some fun. So he kinda of just ad libed a lot of his lines in the scenes where Loki was Odin.
this one one of my favorites in the mcu. it’s funny without over doing it i feel like. still good action and continuation of the story but sprinkling in funny moments
Odin called it home because Asgard is not a place it's a people and not going to put any spoilers but the Vikings were said to be descendants of Asgard and they originated in Norway - so now you have to watch Vikings from the History Channel lol
That moment when you realize that the actress who played Hela, Cate Blanchett, is the same actress who played the elf Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings.
WHAT?? I LOVE both y'all reaction to these movies!! I never wanna see one without the other, ya hear?? 😅 Anyways loving the channel and keep it up, the journeys just getting interesting
Thor was looking for the Infinity Stones, not looking for Loki. He came to Earth with Loki to find Odin. Loki would have found Heimdall guilty and killed him, simply because Heimdall would be able to see through the illusion of Loki being Odin. This is why Heimdall is a fugitive, 59:05-59:18 Surtur had told Thor in the beginning of the movie that when his crown is placed in The Eternal Flame, he will be restored (to the power it took Hela, Odin and Odin's army to defeat) and he would destroy Asgard. You may recall, Odin called this piece of Norway "Home"
omg yes we picked up on him but not galadriel! pretty bummed about that but she didn’t have that majestic angel voice or appearance so we got all confused
In the comics, Hela was actually the daughter of Loki. This movie quietly cover another comic book storyline: Planet Hulk. In the comics, Hulk is banished from t the earth by Tony Stark and The Illuminati. (Dr. Strange, Professor X, Black Bolt, Namor, and Reed Richards). He posed through a wormhole and landed on Sakaar. He helped overthrow their evil king and found love. He had a son named Skaar. This led to another story, World War Hulk. Not going into that one.
Fun Fact: in comic and mythology Hela or Hel is not the sister but in fact Loki' daughter and the giant wolf she had in the movie is named Fenrir is actually Loki's son.
@@TheOctobersReact and you’ll get MY comment if you look up a Dredd poster 😅 I thought that was a funny statement because he DOES have an intense frown. But really; super pumped for Black Panther and Infinity War 🤙

are you guys going to do a ranking videos/critique after you finish Endgame? I'd be interested in your filmography thoughts & MCU rankings video@@TheOctobersReact
This is easily the best Thor movie, and I personally rank it top 6-7 among the entire MCU. It did have problems in terms of the timeline, which came down to the writers either being confused or getting lazy and throwing in the towel. First off, they got the time progression on Sakaar versus the rest of the universe backwards. The Grandmaster explained that due to time passing differently on Sakaar, he was still alive and in his prime but anywhere else, he would be millions of years old (and presumably already dead for a looooong time). Likewise Valkyrie is still youthful despite being on Sakaar longer than Thor and Loki have been alive (or at least since they were babies) and she was already an adult back then. So the implication is that time passes more slowly on Sakaar compared to the outside universe. But Thor and Loki's arrival showed the reverse. Hela knocked them out of the BiFrost transport beam just a few seconds apart. But when Thor landed, Loki had already been there for a couple of weeks. That demonstrates time passing much faster on Sakaar, not slower. No one in Asgard remembering Hela is also a problem. While she's older than most of the population, some Asgardians (middle-aged to older ones like Frigga and Odin's age) would have certainly been around when she was Odin's right hand, conquering worlds. It raises the question of whether Odin performed a mass memory wipe on everyone in Asgard around the same time he replaced the palace ceiling. Still, those issues aside I absolutely loved it.
Wow, i am super impressed Mrs October❤ you recognized Led Zep's (imigrant song) in the beginning of the movie where Thor was escaping from Surtur and stole his horns!
-5:38 Matt Damon is playing Loki and Luke Hemsworth, Chris Hemsworth's brother is playing Thor. Sam Neill plays Odin... -17:56 Hear "Pure Imagination from the movie Willy Wonka (original movie)? -18:34 The Grandmaster and The Collector (from the Guardians of the Galaxy movie and Thor bonus clip) are brothers. They are part of 11 siblings known as The Elders. They are over a billion of years old... -22:26 Do you see she was the original owner of Mjolnir aka Thors hammer? The worthy curse was placed on it AFTER she had it, during the original Thor movie in the MCU... -38:37 Stark called him that in the original Avengers movie, referencing this movie... ua-cam.com/video/7oXtTHTVAs8/v-deo.htmlsi=PJ4FjuQ8a3wjYoxL
Korg's revolution failed because he didn't print enough pamphlets. Paper beat Rock. Near the end of the movie Korg thought Meek was dead because he accidentally stepped on him. Rock beat Scissors. Always thought that was funny.
Around (@57:00) the scene wear The Executioner has the 2 machine guns is a reference to the comics where he stands on top of mound of bodies & fires into invaders to the Asgardian realm. Of course, in the comics he was a hulking beast who could go 1 on 1 with Hulk until Hulk amped up through his anger. He mostly carried an axe & was a weak willed individual manipulated by the Enchantress, but he was definitely not a coward. (No, they never introduced the Enchantress in the MCU.)
Norse mythology, as in Thor, Odin, Frigg, Loki, all them Gods, originates from Scandinavia: Denmark, Norway, Sweden etc. In MCU canon, they would've came to Earth a long time ago and were considered GODS... Even tho they were really just super powerful aliens from a planet called Asgard. Odin had a special place in his heart for Midgard or Earth. So he calls Norway "Home". I'm sure some expert can tear my explanation apart but I hope that helps lol.
good points. I'll add that in the comics, Thor was actually born on Earth (in Norway). He was the offspring of Odin and Gaia, the elder goddess who's literally the spirit of the Earth, He was taken to Asgard as a child and raised by Frigga, who was his adoptive mother. Being half-Asgardian and half-Elder god helped explain why comic book Thor was so massively powerful compared to other Asgardians. Anyway, in the MCU Frigga is Thor's biological mother, as far as we know. And of course the Asgardians were introduced as very powerful alien race with 5000-year lifespans and whose mastery of science and technology was so far advanced it was considered magic (as Thor explained to Jane in the first Thor movie). In this movie, Marvel Studios backtracked somewhat, and started treating Asgardians as more godly instead of just powerful aliens who were worshipped as gods by more primitive races (like humanity). Remember in Thor the Dark World, Odin chastised Loki, yelling "we are not gods! We are born, we live, and we die- just as they do". But in this movie, they freely refer to themselves as gods.
@@neospock5034 Yeah the semantics of the whole "God" thing can be a little inconsistent. Now you've got my mind spinning on why they chose to use the monikers of God of thunder, Goddess of death, God of mischief and so on to essentially describe their powers or "specialties". Hmmm. Maybe they just really liked the ring of it 🤷🏻♂️. Or maybe I shouldn't think too deep into it... Oh but I'm gonna now lol. Thanks for the insight ✊🏽
@@TheOctobersReact at the beginning of the first Thor movie, it shows how a long time ago, Odin and his Asgardian army stopped the Frost Giants from invading Tønsberg, Norway, which is the same city where Red Skull finds the Tesseract hidden away at the beginning of the first Captain America.
What you said near the end of the video was correct. It's hard to talk about how this movie will affect later parts of the story if you don't know what's coming. But if you do... Well, some things to consider: Asgard was the seat of power for the Nine Realms for thousands of years, but what's going to happen to those realms now that it's destroyed? Mjolnir is gone, too; how is Thor going to fare without his primary weapon and mode of transportation? Loki seems to be a hero now, what will that be like? How will they and the rest of the Asgardians live on Earth? Thor finally gets the throne, but what kind of king will he be? Bruce was The Hulk for so long that the latter developed more of a personality; what's that going to mean in the long term? Doctor Strange has become knowledgeable and capable enough of a magic user to casually confront supernatural beings Thor and Loki directly; now that he's made his existence known to at least one Avenger, what will this mean for their stories moving forward? Just some things to think about.
HOT TAKE for loki fans, but I didn't start liking Loki until this movie. I didn't hate him in Avengers or Thor the Dark World, but I wasn't hyping him up as much as anyone else was in like 2012. Something about this film for me officially made him my favorite character

I find it hilarious though that that's the same actor who played Julius Caesar on Xena: Warrior Princess playing Skurge, Karl Urban
Two points:
1. Loki looks DAMN good in Earth clothes
Sorry for the correction, but I am sure you mean willingly, not willfully.
Don't be jelly Mrs October, we all love your reactions just as much. ❤️

The idea of Loki being scared of Hulk and Bruce being scared of Loki sends me
8:10 It makes sense why Thor would think Loki became a business card..You see..We know Loki is a shapeshifter, illusionist and a prankster..and as we learn from this movie..He once tuned into a snake and stabbed Thor as a child
Phenomenal reaction, as always.
I love the job Taika Waititi did in reinvigorating the Thor character with this movie.
Keep up the great work!
The immigrant song is about the vikings using the Hammer of the Gods to travel to a new land :) Sam Neill was Odin and Mat Damon as Loki.

A lot of the humor in this film comes from director Taika Waititi. His projects all have a strong sense of humor.
Fun fact: The director of this movie, Taika Waititi, plays Korg in this movie.
Karl urban is in everything if you need a surprise character to come in clutch you cast Karl urban
Hulk and Banner are different entities in one body.
this one one of my favorites in the mcu. it’s funny without over doing it i feel like. still good action and continuation of the story but sprinkling in funny moments
Odin called it home because Asgard is not a place it's a people and not going to put any spoilers but the Vikings were said to be descendants of Asgard and they originated in Norway - so now you have to watch Vikings from the History Channel lol
The actor who played Thor in the story of Loki is actually chris Hemsworth older brother
That moment when you realize that the actress who played Hela, Cate Blanchett, is the same actress who played the elf Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings.
Seems like Betty Ross is the next character to become a supervillain after Red Skull, Ronan, and Hela.
This wasn't the first time Matt Damon played Loki he did that back in dogma
WHAT?? I LOVE both y'all reaction to these movies!! I never wanna see one without the other, ya hear?? 😅 Anyways loving the channel and keep it up, the journeys just getting interesting
You're the best!
Thor was looking for the Infinity Stones, not looking for Loki. He came to Earth with Loki to find Odin.
Loki would have found Heimdall guilty and killed him, simply because Heimdall would be able to see through the illusion of Loki being Odin. This is why Heimdall is a fugitive,
59:05-59:18 Surtur had told Thor in the beginning of the movie that when his crown is placed in The Eternal Flame, he will be restored (to the power it took Hela, Odin and Odin's army to defeat) and he would destroy Asgard.
You may recall, Odin called this piece of Norway "Home"
Me just realizing the executioner guy is Billy Butcher from The Boys
I was in the cinema and watched this movie. Definitely one of marvels classics. It's just so unexpected and absolutely great.
You guys are the best. The fight between Hulk and Thor was great! Have a nice day 😊.
FYI, Hella is Kate Blanchett you portrayed Galadriel in LOTR. And her executioner portrayed the King of Rohan's nephew and Aowyns brother.
omg yes we picked up on him but not galadriel! pretty bummed about that but she didn’t have that majestic angel voice or appearance so we got all confused
Arwen/Betty Ross is the next character to become a supervillain.
Actress who plays Valkyrie also stars in the creed movies 1-3 with Michael b Jordan
The yellow gloves were part of Comic book Dr. Strange's outfit. The gloves in the movie are an Easter egg.
Fun Fact: in comic and mythology Hela or Hel is not the sister but in fact Loki' daughter and the giant wolf she had in the movie is named Fenrir is actually Loki's son.

Probably in my top 5 MCU films, and right after this shit starts getting crazy
Thor is the best character, great reaction🤙🏼⚡️
Wow, i am super impressed Mrs October❤ you recognized Led Zep's (imigrant song) in the beginning of the movie where Thor was escaping from Surtur and stole his horns!
of course! it was on my workout playlist for many years… 😬

Korg's revolution failed because he didn't print enough pamphlets. Paper beat Rock. Near the end of the movie Korg thought Meek was dead because he accidentally stepped on him. Rock beat Scissors. Always thought that was funny.
Thor, Odin, and Loki are the Norse gods. They likely loved Norway like a home-away-from-home
I fking love yalls relationship, yall are so wholesome and cute

awwww thank you so much 😊
Around (@57:00) the scene wear The Executioner has the 2 machine guns is a reference to the comics where he stands on top of mound of bodies & fires into invaders to the Asgardian realm.
I love Hulk. And I feel so bad for him here. He found a place where people accepted him and praised him, but he was forced to leave.
the guy doesn't figure things out too quickly.
Also the Grandmaster is the brother of the Collector from Guardians of the Galaxy
I'm sure some expert can tear my explanation apart but I hope that helps lol.
it makes sense. i think actually assassins valhalla takes place there if i’m not mistaken
good points.
Just some things to think about.
appreciate that forreal!
