Good luck on this new series. In reality for those curious, the real USS Perch was scuttled during its second war patrol on March 3rd, 1942 with its entire 59 man crew successfully evacuating and ended up captured. 5 men succumbed to malnutrition but the rest would survive. The wreck was unintentionally discovered in 2006 by dive teams searching for HMS Exeter. Unfortunately, because the wreck wasn’t designated a war grave because none of the crew died in the sinking, the wreck was illegally salvaged and is no longer on the ocean floor.
