Just the first few bars of this song and I’m back in the 70’s driving in my 71 Camaro. What a Time Machine music is. And the bass player in this video, Larry Knetchel, played the piano on Bridge Over Troubled Water. Dude had talent.
I met my wife to be the week this song was released... we got married three years later. Now, 54 years later we are still together loving every day! Folks, if you didn't grow up in the 60s and early 70s you've certainly missed out! Heck, ...... think about! Secretariat, 1973 Ky, Derby.. I was there!
I know I missed out. So wished I lived during that time. I lived in the early 80s. But man dad and mom told me all about the 60s and 70s. Oh how I wish I was part of that generation

Unfortunately, Bread was broken shortly after the release of their phenomenal album and its resulting singles. But David eventually "came back" as a solo act. At our school dances, one of the most popular requested songs was "If". The boys would combine their hard earned dollar bills and saved up lunch money quarters to tip the bands to play that slow dance song for a LONG time.
Beautiful sound, mixed feelings as it takes me back to my beautiful marriage, before she went insane and left me without explanation. Then a few years later she was found alone, broke and dead, but she had her freedom. Thanks women's lib.
Amazing song and easy on the eyes too 😉. They sure don’t make music like they did in the 60’s. I sure do cherish these songs and I wish more up and coming would get back to this instead of the absolute trash they pump out today labeled as “music”.....
How did people write such music two generations ago and are writing utter trash today? Something's changed in our environments, our philosophy, our perceptions.

This is my favorite Bread song. 'If' was my wedding song in 1977. We're still married in 2024.
I used to work at 5am and this song was on my playlist. Driving at 4am and listening to Bread is very relaxing.
Timeless! ❤ Who's here in 2024?

Me, feeling melancholy and like I lost things I never realised I had.
Some bread gets some mold but The Bread never gets old 😊 Classics will never get you sick. I can listen to this all day 👍🥰
I toast you there

This live version is sooooo goood!! Love the bass!!
Love the harmony vocals and all of the guitars and drums of course!!
Every beat of this masterpiece brings me back to the 70s as an unforgettable perfume.

(And there was no lip syncing there. Actually "live".)
Sometimes it's too perfect for words
