I am a general surgeon 63 years of age.I worked for 14years in govt hospital but ultimately found that I have to take dictates from my seniors and I am lagging behind in my surgical work, so I left job and started my own small hospital Now we are six doctors ,all my family members different specialities. Whatever you are saying is 100 percent correct regarding CORPORATE HOSPITALS which look shopping malls and owned and run by business families.Their sole target is to earn profit, doctors working in these hospitals are just employees. The decision are taken by market teams. Take for granted that you get best treatment care in small DOCTORS owned hospital in your neighborhood but corporate hospital are hell bent upon to get these small hospital closed by getting policies passed by the governments .

One of my friend who barely passed class 12 did bds from private college and spent 50 lakh on bds plus mds combined. Won't these guys loot the patient. They will try to extract every possible money from patient by recommending various tests and procedures.

Someone in the immediate family was working in Oncology department in a reputed hospital. He quit his job when he was asked to "prescribe" expensive medication to a lady who was on death bed and would not survive the night. He told his HOD that it is unethical and he would not prescribe the medication as it served no purpose. He wanted to just make her comfortable.
He was told to prescribe the medicine, he refused. Resigned the very same day........

This is so so true. I witnessed this first hand. Took my mom to a hospital in Delhi Dwarka as she was feeling little breathless but was walking and was pretty normal. The moment they came to know that she is CGHS beneficiary they kept her in ICU for seven days. My family doctor visited and started laughing at the whole scenario. The final diagnosis was pulmonary hypertension which is very normal among senior citizen and doesn't even require hospitalization.

One more thing during the initial meeting with doctor also i say that I don't have insurance and no continuing income source, like jobless these days so request them to consider their clinical judgement and my current problems and symptoms to recommend medicine. Rather forcing me to get many expensive tests done. It has proven successful and I have saved lot of money for unnecessary tests done. Infinity Guru ji ki jai ho!

The moment I told I have 5L insurance they started diagnosis only after 12 days of admitting to hospital & that too by forcing the doctors. I had TB but they did heart checkup, kidney checkup & countless xrays & scanning. The cardiologist himself asked me why are you even getting these tests done? I come from a medical background family and I agree about what you are saying. This practice is rampant in bigshot corporate hospitals. The doctors working there are treated like any underpaid employee is getting in India. The corporate hospitals have built mall like structure and operate solely for profit. The bigger issue that is going to arise in the future is that because of general hostility society has towards doctors and increasing paperwork requirements, independent doctors running their independent diagnostic centers, hospitals and clinics will gradually vanish because they won't be able to survive in the long run. Building your own setup is getting difficult with every year. These young new doctors will only be capable of becoming employees in these corporate hostipals who function solely on a maximum revenue profit model.

Happened with a friend of mine.
We were in college and we had consumed burgers from, let’s just say, less than sanitary sources. Nothing happened to me but about 2-3 hours later my friend started puking uncontrollably. Now I should let you know that my friend was a person with a weak constitution. So I was worried. His parents were also in a different city. So I took him to the nearest decent looking hospital. They kept him overnight and next day prescribed a long list of tests. I got the reports and went back and with a very somber expression and serious voice they told me that they’ll have to perform emergency appendectomy. Now I had my doubts about this. So I talked to other friends who were around and informed his parents. Even they were sure that this is just a money grabbing technique. So on that day itself we had him discharged and got a second opinion.
It was just a case of food poisoning. And they were ready to put him under and cut him open just to make some money. Honestly, it’s a blessing to have doctors and lawyers as your near and dear ones.

It happened with me. My father was admitted to a private hospital in Raipur. They did the same thing they have done operation operation for no reason, and my father was a government employee and we admitted him through CGHS after knowing that they start doing unwanted procedures and making bills. After few days, I lost my father. Everyone in this field is not bad, but most of the private hospitals are not hospitals. They are businesses and their main purpose is to earn money, not to solve the problem of patients and diagnose them or cure them.

    You're right Sir.
I'm from Pakistan and here, medical insurance are not that common. But one thing which is very very common is giving doctors certain salary per month to prescribe expensive medicines. Like once I got rashes, I go to Government hospital. The doctor prescribe me medicine where one Tablet was more than 250+ rupees. Thank God, I knew this fact. I go to medical store tell them I'm student. I don't have enough money They give me other medicine (showing me that both of them have same salt) at 13 rupees per tablet. This is so so common here. They're good doctors but sadly much less than these people.

Sir, what you're saying is absolutely correct. I too have had many experiences. The first was being with my father when he went for a health checkup at Medanta - The Medicity, situated in Gurugram along with me in 2017. It looked more like a mall to me. At that time my father did not have any health insurance, still they charged above Rs 40,000 for just a health checkup, just judging on me and my father's personality. We had to stay for 2-3 days at a building opposite to the hospital where rooms were charging insane. The 2nd experience was with my late mother who was diagonised with Stage 4 Lungs Cancer at Apollo Hospital, Kolkata the same year. The hospital didn't do any thing other than the two biopsy tests, kept the patient for 10-15 days and charged in lakhs. We immediately asked for the discharge procedure after hearing the bill. It hit our pockets so much that we had to took our mother to Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, where the whole treatment took place at a very reasonable cost.

Exactly I experienced it first hand, the hsptl was pushing for a test and quoted 27k. I hesitated for a bit coz I was thinking about whether I had that much balance in my account., the cashier/receptionist thought I was hesitating and literally said he can get it done in 18k...eventually I ended up not doing that test.
One more ex: My friends father wanted to get a test covered under Insurance, so the hsp said that, if you can get admitted for a day, we will do the test on the same day and then send it for claim. He agreed. But the hsp didn't conduct the test on the first day, saying that there is huge queue of people, even though the appointment was taken more than a week back. Eventually, he was kept at the hsp for 4 days, and then taken for other tests (after 9 pm 😮)saying that they are under some package, all bcoz he had insurance. All the Junior doctors and nurses were pushing him for some other tests saying they are good tests and beneficial for him blah blah..and not conducting the initial test giving some excuse or others

Side effect of insurance.... But for me i started my health insurance in 2015 and paying till date last year I went for eye surgery they did my cosmetic eye surgery for free (1lac on my insurance)... So somehow it benifit for me ... But what you are saying is word by word true.... And because some people have insurance doctor and hospital are now becoming more costly... 220 september I delivered my baby in government hospital free of cost csec... But my friend paid 140000 next week for her c sec delivery in rainbow hospital hyderabad..... Because she had insurance she went to big hospital... in my case my father went through heart angioplasty on 16 July 24 . His heart had 3 blockages and needed 3 stents to be placed in the arteries. Although it was free in some maharshtra government schemes, i went with private cashless hospital because in government scheme stent was without drug eluated stent. Hence private hospital bill was 2.5Lac and i paid 0 rupees and i was so relaxed during all this process. Health insurance company is Niva bupa Reassure 2.0. I had paid almost 1.2Lac since 4 years for my father mother combined in health insurance. So in my experience health insurance is safer bet.

Corruption among medical fraternity is so deep you even can't imagine. It was an incident when my wife was pregnant and doctor advice us to do some tests which is costing around Rs.17k, but the same doctor told us that she will do it in Rs. 10k in her own clinic. I felt something fishy, and decided to take 2nd option from another gynecologist in the same city, just imagine he is also gave the same advice, not even a word here and there😮. But we decided to do delivery in my wife's hometown, where her family doctor/gynecologist told us that tests was completely useless. My point is that even if you are going to take 2nd option in the same city it will waste your money and time only because doctor's cartel is most notorious cartel even govt is scare to take any action. Its sad and scary fact of the current situation. 10:25

Should I name the “sales agents” aka doctors? 😂😂 I came from abroad so I could see right through their bullshit and tactics! But my family was being so polite and submissive to them. 1 doctor totally changed his facial expressions after I said I don’t want to be admitted for a UTI (I had no insurance also). We did an expensive blood test just so I could see his senior doctor the next day but that dr refused to even speak to me cuz he knew I didn’t want to be admitted! Beware people and please get rid of this submissive behaviour. Government agents, pharma agents and all other agents will use this against you.

Great video and information provided on malpractices in the health sector. Whatever you said is true. One of the problems lies in the mindset of our society and people who spend lakhs of rupees to give capitation fees (donations) to medical colleges to get admission for their sons/daughters. If the foundation is built on corrupt practices, what can we expect from such doctors whose primary goal is not service but to recover the business investment of their families from the poor patients, The majority of the middle class takes medical/health insurance policies. Worse is that some of these criminal-type doctors are also engaged in chopping off limbs of children/adults to look them like helpless beggars, so that they fetch more money, as shown in some movies & written in media.
