The supercharger pulley is intact in your video. That’s your idler pulley. Easy fix.
Shouldn’t have happened
My engine blew a push rod at 4,956 miles. I've never tracked my ZL1 and the most the engine ever gets pressed is on free way ramps, it is also completely stock and has never been tuned. I worry about GM. (They did a full warranty replacement, ZL1 is JUST under 12k miles currently and I have not had another issue with the drive train, yet). 2022.
Wow, hopefully it was just something odd and not a common issue. These motors seem to be pretty rock solid. Get it on track though and you will have a blast.
At least the thermostat housing survived and you didn't lose the coolant. Things could always be worse!
That’s exactly right!
Im no mech in any way but something had to be loose to create heat, wobble, or ripped belt ? to have this happen. Something isn't right for the care you have placed in this Camaro. I would say contact GM to see if they can provide some advice but they just say CONTACT YOUR LOCAL (STEALERSHIP) Or search out the C7 Forums for advice (if you haven't already). I hope you figure it out so we can learn from your unfortunate mishap. Sorry, for this to happen to ya.
Thanks I appreciate it. I actually took it to the dealership and let’s just say I’ll be fixing myself
I’m definitely ordering a set of the wheels you got. Do you have any discount codes for Titan-7?
The wheels are amazing! They sponsored me directly so I don’t have any discount codes
Hey Brock, good luck with your repair and nice job on the track. I’ve learned a good bit from watching your videos, and have no doubt you’ll be back supercharged in no time.
Have you looked into adding an oil catch can to your engine? I’ve been religious about adding those to my vehicles but see the ZL1 LT4 has what appears to be a built in oil catch can (left front side of the engine) - yet there are after market ones which force you to lift the supercharger to install, and tap into various lines which make it far from a standard plug and play system. However, it seems that there’s a subset of us ZL1 owners that still go that route and collect additional oil vapor from entering the intake.
Thanks for the kind words and I’m glad the videos help.
I’ve thought about the catch can but hate that it’s such an intense install. I’ve seen both sides of the coin with it. Some people say it’s a must and others don’t have issues. I had 2 on my GT350R and it was a maintenance thing with that car but a couple weekends at the track and it barely picked up any oil so honestly who knows lol.
Not sure I’ve ever heard of a supercharger pulley blowing on a P-car 😅
Hahahahaha
Just got back from Barber this past weekend sore as well....the belt problem is new to me...I.went to a competition harness bar/ cage and belts ...100% better...
It’s crazy how much that plastic piece hurts after a day. You never know how much you are getting beat up until the next day haha especially at Sebring! I want to do harness bar and belts but my 7yr old loves to go for rides and I don’t want to take that away from him.
O it dose..... and my right elbow is all over the rear of the console. Taking the family out for snow cones in a ..Race Car!!! is priceless...
@@hyper1le486 haha definitely
This sounds like the perfect time to replace the SC pulley with a smaller one and new tune. Maybe even throw on some headers if you're feeling frisky.
Hahaha it creates too much heat. Have to go down the rabbit hole and add another $2k in just cooling
@@BROCKgoFAST it will be worth it when those Porsches can’t pass you
I know the engine is tuned to work with the supercharger. Can't the v8 by itself make decent power all by itself? I know you stated he doesn't have the power to go around cars.
The main problem is the fuel trims don’t line up. The computer expects boost so it dumps fuel and the car runs like poop. It literally felt like I had 50hp when the belt let go
@BROCKgoFAST oh I gotcha. In the past I was used to centrifugal blowers , not positive displacement blowers where a lot more boost is created in the lower RPM range
That's wild that it felt like it had 50hp. So, pretty much very light throttle feathering was the only way to drive it.
@@osos231 yeah I had to limp it home just be very easy on the throttle
@BROCKgoFAST Ugh, wow. That really is frustrating. Did you have anyone trying to line up with you on the way home?
@@osos231 haha no. I took all back roads and took it very easy
I'm at the same point in my track career. The sides of my knees feel like they have been hammmered on on certain tracks. Brock don't half ass it with a harness bar.😢 Cage it.
I’d love to cage it but then my son can’t go on rides with me. That part is very important to me. My knee hurt for like a week haha
Looks like there is a lot more in your ZLE. Get some instruction, it's a lot of fun and eye opening with someone in-car feeding you info that unlocks your and the car's potential.
Oh there definitely is. I was learning the car that day and gradually pushing until that happens. Ran a best of 2:23 at Sebring which is moving!
Apparently those seat belts can if you pull them all the way out, lock you in. Also, wrap your wrists and wear knee pads. A race seat and harness is an option. Anyone who sees that on the street will know you mean business lol.
Race seat and harness is really the only way and then that comes with a cage that I didn’t want.
I feel for you brother, you will get it right!!!
Thanks!
Hey Brock
That looks like the idler pulley that actually failed. I would check and see if Katech has an upgraded pulley to replace it with instead of the OE pulley. This is a common upgrade on some of the Corvettes over the years.
Thanks. I have the OEM piece at home but have been looking for some type of upgrade so it doesn’t happen again
