Fantastic!! 15 yrs in HVAC and I never knew to test the leads individually like that!! I actually used another meter to do the testing. Really glad I found your channel. Thank you!
hello and thank you for your videos. i am having a problem with my meter. i can test ac and dc voltage but cant seem to get any other readings. there is nothing when i test the leads as you show and no sound or reading when i check continuity. does this mean the meter is bad or is it i am doing something wrong. thank you for any help you can provide.
Glad you like the videos. In a situation like this, I always wonder if there is something wrong with the instrument or if I'm doing something wrong. I recommend you follow the same steps with another meter that is known to be good.
HVACE SERVICE MENTOR, the other probe leads tested good of resistance but might not pass the Insulation resistance test good using 400V Megger. Why not make a YT lesson about testing probe leads using an insulation resistance test?
I need to test the leads I'm using with the meter and I have the meter right there. I'm not so concerned about insulation as I am about the integrity of the conductor within. Naturally, you will want to inspect the insulation for any cuts or voids for safety purposes.

Good video. Too easy to get careless and mistreat the meter leads.
