When would you recommend the procedure where metal caps are implanted?

metal caps are a surgeon preference if the patient is older. I've seen them last 20 years without metal broaches. Yes, it is designed to have the metal interface, but the debate still goes on if that really helps preserve the implant vs. it being a more unforgiving surface than bone....

So I was shot at the base of my great toe the bullet went through and through right at the joint of the toe.
I already received a surgery to clean it up and take care of some bone spurs. My dr mentioned in the future I may need bone fusion. However I'm currently 40 years old with 3 young children that I need to keep up.
Should I consdier the fusion or another surgery or perhaps more intensive physical therapy. Currently it seems the condition or getting worse in the recent months if the pain level im currently in is anything to go off.
Thanks for your time and the great video.

At your age, most definitely have it fused. I have a 57 year old marathon runner who had a fusion about 8 years ago.
