So its 2 years since I last watched and commented on this and im going to finally do the ggw 😁 Trying to do as much research as possible, only been doing munros the last couple of years so im a bit rusty on the multi day hiking.
Hi just watched your blog on the GGW I thought it was absolutely brilliant I hope to do this soon with my support dog Fergus your pronunciation was fab thank you ❤
Excellent. Enjoyed the film of your, I think, East Highland Way earlier today (that followed this walk). Scottish midges have been awful on my many Scottish treks, except the Southern Upland Way. For future ref: it’s drumna-drockit but I loved your stabs at it. I love Fort Augustus- I have a friend living near Invergarry and we often go to Fort Augustus. Looking forward to watching your other videos. I’m a little passed my backpacking days now so gain a lot of vicarious pleasure following others. Thanks again for your super videos and your lovely presentation style.
Great video! 👍Brought back memories of my GGW in May last year including all the midges! Love your perseverance at pronouncing Drumnadrochit.....it’s Drum-na-droch-it and gets easier the more you say it! 😁
Just done the west Highland way with my nephew in 6 days, looking to doing the great glen way in the spring next year, looks so much more of an enjoyable walk. Great video has given me a good insight into the route.
Thanks for watching! The Great Great Glen way is a great walk. There's a good mix of landscapes throughout the hike. Atb for your walk - Katie and Kevin.
Just watched yer vid guys, it was great to see you take on and conquer a very unfairly underrated Scottish trail. Yes the West Highland Way is King, but the Great Glen Way brings, as you guys showed, some interesting challenges. Would buy you guys a beer in any pub in any town.
Did lol when you pronounced drumnadrochit! 😂🤣😂 you’ve got to love Scottish place names! It’s pronounced.... drum-na-droch (like loch) -it 👍 Loving your videos....very inspiring.
Well done, you put some long stints in to achieve your goal. I really enjoyed your video, shame about the midges but that's the highlands. I know you guys live down in Lincolnshire, if you want another long distance walk without the midges what about the St Cuthberts Way, it's 100Km through the lovely border region, finishing on Holy Island. Easy for you to get to Berwick by train and either a bus out to Melrose or if the Covid has been sorted, I would happily pick you up and transport you to Melrose and collect you from Holy Island at the end of your adventure. Genuine offer to a lovely couple. Thanks for sharing and keep safe. D
😁 Thanks for watching! The midges didn't spoil it. Just learnt a valuable lesson about taking a midge net instead of a bug net.... Wow thanks for the heads up on the Cuthberts way and your lovely offer 😊. It's a route we will check out. Atb Kev and Katie.
Drum-na-dro-shite. Tremendous. We're moving there this year. Can't wait to let the locals know. Other than that, brilliant video. Will be doing it this summer.
Hey Jamie! I wish I learnt how to use the new camera (Sony zv-1 )before setting out on our walk. There are too many micro shakes for my liking and that's not including the big ones. When are you looking to come back to Blighty?
@@GETtwoIT I didn't even notice any of the shakes to be honest, and I watched it on my desktop computer. We were looking at June/July next year. BUT with everything that's going on with COVID, we might have to just wait until the next year possibly. If it does go into 2022, then that'll give me ample time to gather equipment and test it out. We have everything we need, but no light-weight items.
Been going through all your vids, you two are an inspiration! Will be doing at least two of your hikes this year(covid permitting!) Really looking forward to it! Keep the great vids coming 👍
🥰 Thank you. Super happy that our videos are helping. Which hikes are you planning to do? We will hopefully have our SDW vid up by the end of next week. Atb Katie x

Fantastic hike, brings back good memories when I did it, pitty Laggin boat cafe was closed as its nice food & relaxing, the echo place 11 miles from Inverness is good to atb Derek
Derek, thanks for watching! Pushing all the way in the rain to laggan lochs to find the cafe was closed was pretty rubbish! But hey its good material for a story over a few beers. We never checked out the Echo place out, should have really. Again thanks for watching!
Hey guys, an amazing video, I am walking TGGW with 2 friends next May, we're doing it over 6 days but your video really brought it to life, thanks so very much. Really looked great
We were surprised how quiet the walk was, especially considering no one can go abroad at the moment. Saying that straight after this we did the EHW, walking back to our car in Fort William. On that trail, we didn't see a single person for a couple of days. Thanks for watching!
looks a great trail and enjoyed the video, you both can be forgiven for getting that hotel room, full marks for capturing footage of the steam train guessing it was the jacobite heading for the Glenfinnan viaduct ps with all thats going on in the world is the PCT trip still on stay safe nigel
Thanks for watching! I am not too sure where that train was going. When Katie saw it she just shouted it's going to Hogwarts! lol. Yeah, we hope we can do it in 2021 but it's not looking likely at the moment.
Hi troops great to see you back and very well done on completing the GGW. Was wondering whats that little mapping app you're using on you phone to track your progress? Mick 👍🍻
Michael thanks for watching! We were just using the garmin connect app to track our progress. We both have garmin watches which both can track via GPS. You can one for your phone like komoot, all trails, mapmyhike etc.
@@GETtwoIT hahaha! I use my Fenix 2 for running but never noticed that display when I connect it to my laptop. Doh!!! I'll have to go and have a look. Again thank you for your videos, my wife and I love walking but haven't done one in a long time which was Hadrian's wall... beautiful!!! Watching your West Highland way walk has encouraged us to plan it in for the end of March 2021. Thank you for the kick in the bum we needed...

Just curious as to why it's £10 per person for the toilets? Can't 1 family / a couple share a key? Thanks for sharing. Myself, hubby & 2 youngest kids plant to do the WHW next Easter & will probably do the GGW in the summer holidays. We live in Cambridge so have a bit of a trek just to get up there. What app are you using to track you? Looks good x
The lock facilities range, some have just toilets but others have showers, laundry, kitchen etc. We passed majority of the locks within the first 3 days and unfortunately the facilities at Invergarry (where we camped) were out of order so we didn't really use the key all that much. The trail blazer sites only had the compostable toilets and they weren't locked (broken locks or nothing at all) so unless you think you are really going to make good use of the key then I probably wouldn't bother.
@@niks_healthy_lifestyle1691 Just for the people who have the key. Forgot to add, we just used our Garmin connect app to track us. We also use Hiiker app to plan and navigate.
Well done! Amazing! I want to do that too one day :) Wanted to ask .. those pouches on G rucksack.. on the shoulder strap.. did they come witht the bag or were bought separately?
Hey there! Thanks for watching! I had to buy the pouches separately from the Gossamer gear Mariposa. They are the Gossamer gear bottle rocket and shoulder strap pocket.
The toilets were out of order at Invergarry lock but they had a portaloo. The compostable toilets we past were ok but one had a broken window and all were missing locks. We thought they were ok though!
Hey there. Base weights for our packs: 18/19ish lbs - Kev (could be lowered with the removal of camera gear) 16/17lbs - Katie With around 5 days food and 2ltrs of water - can take our total bag weight upwards to around 30lbs. Hope that helps.
