We take waffles seriously in our house ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUfphIgghPSpAXNq6OG2WRYsFVqylcqMn and worked our old one through many years of Sunday brunches till it finally gave out on us. Our old one only made two at a time, this one makes four! Nicely sized 1 inch thick which are lovely! Now the kids don't have to wait as long to eat our weekly waffle breakfast and everyone's are hot if we wait and eat all together! Setting 3 seems to work perfect for golden brown. Be sure to pour the batter in the center of each waffle square, not the center of the iron like the novice that posted the scorched waffles photo. About a 1/4 to 1/3 cup of batter in each seemed to work well for us. We tested making just one at a time so we could use all the remaining batter and it made it just as fluffy and golden as when we made 4!
I thought I was watching an unaired episode of to Catch a Predator with Chris Hansen. Your voice is spot on. Next time start with ‘please have a seat’ 🤣
The cupcake Chaffle is awesome in flavor, but a little on the dry side in texture. I substituted sour Cream for the Heavy Whipping Cream and it greatly improved the texture to a cake-like texture! Thanks for this video share!
Thank you Steve I wish I could take credit for the recipe I don't know who originated it it's been passed around my Facebook group for months now. Whoever came up with it kudos to them
It’s been the one I’ve seen the most also KCCAT. Thanks Steve for doing both in a comparison vid.. Like you said, I think it’s the black vs the dark cocoa plus the instant coffee that makes the first more oreo-like. That said, I could also be down for a hostess ho ho or hostess cupcake anytime.
hahaha, I love your attitude!! "... call it what you want, I don't care" (and in our house we fondly refer to you as, "that guy who knows how to take a MAN bite" ;)
Made the "Easier Oreo Chaffle" with my non-keto girlfriend who eats a lot of sugar and even wants to be a baker..... She loved it! I'd love to see more dessert stuff like this
These looked so good, but I have learned my lesson with keto desserts. They send me down a dark path that is hard to come back from (over-eating keto desserts). I tend to stick to me savory meals, but this does look damn good!!!
The only time I will have a keto dessert is if I’m going someplace that will serve desserts. At that point, I think ahead and I make one portion size of my keto dessert and I eat it before I even go to the party. Then I remind myself that I had my keto dessert and focus on savory stuff at the party, bringing something delicious like spinach, artichoke dip, and sliced peppers for the dipping is also a way to make sure I have food. However, I was thinking about this year bringing powdered Erythritol mixed with black cocoa powder, a drop of mint, and cream cheese to Christmas this year as truffles. Hence, how I stumbled upon this video. I hope you’re doing well with your health. Remember the holidays are probably the easiest time to focus on Health because while everyone else is gaining it feels like double results as your losing and enjoying the savory holiday foods and fun cooking ideas to make things like mint truffles and garlic butter mashed potatoes keto.
I tried the second one. It was great! I made it tonight and I was too lazy to get out the waffle iron, so I zapped it 90 seconds and made a mug cake. Yummy cupcake texture!
Funny, I have a mug cake recipe from Mad Creations Hub that I made in my waffle maker last night 😊 I can't wait to try these chocolate chaffles. Thanks
One of my favorite pre-keto desserts was a Hostess Cupcake. This keto version uses no almond flour, which is high in oxalates that bind with magnesium in my body and precipitate torturous cramps in my feet. This recipe makes four multi-mini chaffles if divided evenly between the four wells, and makes a delicious snack when filled with the icing. I added a cup of ice cold "milk', which is ice water with a splash of heavy whipping cream. Thank you, Steve, for sharing KCCat5's recipe!
Right, in my case almond flour makes me have nausea and stomach cramples. So weird. I use coconut of lupin flour instead. Flavor isn't the same, but I'm happy I can have alternatives to cook in keto😊
I just made a plain chaffle for the first time this morning--just cheese, eggs and seasonings. It was very good. I'm going to make a different chaffle each day using your recipes. Thank you.
LOL I love it when people tell people straight up doesn't matter what you call it what matters is that you're giving us a recipe thank you for being down to earth and for all your hard work I've been watching you ever since I became a diabetic like two years ago and now is when I'm starting to leave all the people that I watch messages just so you know that I watch you thank you for all your hard work!!!!!!!
I know it wouldn’t taste like an Oreo but I’m assuming you could use just the regular cocoa for a lighter chocolate taste? Wonder if you’d have to change anything about the recipe?
I know this is a year old, but I just found your channel. I want to thank you! The simple version of this was the 2nd thing I made in my Dash (after the best white bread) and it was fantastic! It was so chocolatey and satisfying, that I ate one with some of the cream cheese spread on it, and I was totally happy and satisfied. Put the other two away for tomorrow. Game changer! P.S.... I purchased the whisk thru your link, and I hope you get a little something for it. I feel like I owe you!
I definitely want to try the second one, Hostess Cupcakes were always my favorite pre-keto! I have been missing them! Thank you for sharing this recipe!
Once again bro you nailed this video IMHO. You went straight to the recipes and the ingredients for both. I liked that you were not bias. You gave a balanced review and that's what it's about. Simplicity is your strength. Thanks.
Added about 1.5 tbls of chunky peanut butter to recipe #2. Cooked for 3min. Still moist like a peanut butter brownie 👍🏼 oh... and I ordered a set of the plunger whisks 👍🏼 thanks
If they ever do a movie about the life of the great radio announcer Casey Kasem, you would be the perfect choice. You sound exactly like him, and he had a great voice!
I used to read cookbooks like they were novels. The good ones anyway. For example, I learned a lot about the history of Japan that way. And "Spoonbread & Strawberry Wine is the history, thru food, of one African American family. And Fanny Farmers Cooking School Cookbook is a deep dive in cooking knowledge & lore. ANYway, I sometimes watch your videos w/a somewhat similar attitude. I don't know if I'd ever actually make, "Oreo", chaffles, but your intelligent attitude, and mellifluous voice make for interesting viewing. So thanks for the uploads.
I do some of my own variations of these. Because I don't like eggy taste I use egg whites. I do one with powdered milk that tastes just like white bread. The possibilities are endless. Thank you for sharing. Will try both recipes soon!
Wow, thank you as these were so simple to make and were absolutely delicious P.S. I used regular cocoa powder but made the Hostess Cupcake Chaffles - OMG my sweet tooth thanks you!!
This was soooo good. It really hit the sweet tooth spot! I added a little Sweet drops english toffee stevia drops to the frosting. OMG delicious! Thanks for the recipe Steve and KCCat5.
I made the easy Oreo chaffle and it was a perfect sweet, easy treat that I will enjoy making when I need a delicious sweet low carb treat. Love it! Thank you for testing and sharing these recipes with us!!
Made the "simplified" Hostess style chaffle last night and they were beyond incredible! Can't wait to try the Oreo version when I can pick up some black cocoa powder.
I'm diabetic and semi new to these keto recipes....i made your cauliflower mash recipe and loved it..it will help me a lot..i miss my potatoes..lol..will try this nxt thks
Buying black cocoa! I'm excited! I also am getting all my other Amazon things via your link! Doing what I can to support your channel! Thank you for your content!
I'm Glad the chaffle recipe from KCCAT5 worked out well, cause I'm Not gonna spend that much money on black cocoa powder. Thanks for the recipe and thanks for all the research you put into these recipes.
If you live in canada, at the bulk barn, the black cocoa powder costs exactly the same as the regular cocoa powder. The only cocoa powder that costs more was the premium “red” cocoa powder.
I just made the easier recipe tonight and it was fantastic! I shared pictures and details with a keto oriented group I'm part of and they all drooled over it and swore to make their own.
You just popped up in my feed today. All I have to say is my husband is going to love you for sharing and comparing his all time favorite guilty pleasure. He is out of town on a job, but when he gets home we're going to have fun making these recipes for us both to enjoy. I did go and watch the video you linked. He will love the blueberry one too. Thank you for sharing, an I will be watching for more comparison videos.
If you like chocolate and waffles, you have to try these. These waffles are fantastic. I just made them. Without icing. They are delicious. They are soft. They are chocolatey. I'm going to use these as a base to try and make other desserts.
I made the second Chaffee. I put 1 teaspoon of homemade vanilla in the batter. I made a frosting with heavy whipping cream , 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1 tblsp of Yacon Syrup. I drizzled some of the Yacon syrup on the waffles with a little butter and topped it with the cream and ate with quarter cup of frozen blueberries.
The black cocoa arrived. These are truly wonderful. Well worth ordering the special cocoa powder. Go light on the frosting to enjoy the chocolate flavor
It does have cheese! Cream cheese is a soft CHEESE. For those who can’t have cream cheese you can take Greek unflavored yogurt and salt it put in strainer with cheese cloth and set aside 24 hours. It will thicken like cream cheese and taste like cream cheese or sour cream.
I watched a couple of your videos at this point and I have to say that I love you! I follow a ton of keto UA-camrs and you are no nonsense, no fluff and I love that. I hate waiting 10 minutes to get to the damn recipe! LOL I’m a new follower!
Thank you. I try to keep the recipe the "star" of the show and only talk a lot of there's a disclaimer or food science explanation I feel would be helpful.
These both look so good. In case you see this and have time, do you think these should be avoided while we are trying to lose weight? Would it be a better idea to eat things like this on maintenance? I'm torn. Thank you for testing out these recipes for us. It's very much appreciated!
I made the easier version today and omg were they good. No eggy texture or taste! Next time I’ll probably fill them with some sugar free cool whip for dessert. So yummy!!!
I'd think this cream cheese icing has to be way better. Cool whip tastes just like shaving cream. Love redi whip, tho...it's real cream, or at least dairy.
You have a great voice. I’m a new subscriber so I am enjoying your videos and information. Been low carb for many years and enjoy new recipes to mix it up. Thanks for posting.
These look so good can't wait to try them I'm trying to find ways to have a sweet treat without killing my food plan. PS. Love the t-shirt my wife went there. Thanks for the vids and I subbed.
I would love a video comparing dairy free chaffle recipes, for the dairy challenged among us. Love your videos. You have a pleasant voice, and I like the pace of them. Brevity is good for simple topics. :)
I'll put that on my "to do" list, but it could be a while before I get to something like that. Given that I'm from Wisconsin, I kinda find myself having dairy as part of everything.
Added 1 ounce cream cheese and another tablespoon sweetener to cupcake chaffle recipe, so it now makes 3. I just couldn't bring myself to make a CHeesewAFFLE without cheese. These make absolutely great cake layers for ice cream (well, Creami) sandwiches! Thanks so much!!
I recently found your channel and have been binge watching. Tonight, I made the chocolate waffles. So good! Thank you for sharing. However, I did not have any cream cheese on hand for the filling(keto party foul- tomorrow is grocery day), but I did have a bit of ricotta cheese. After mixing in sweetener and tiramisu flavoring, an amazing dessert resulted. Thank you for the inspiration and all the time/effort you put into your videos. It is much appreciated.
Been watching your channel for almost a year and just now realized your in Wisconsin. lol Waukesha south tee and your Packer’s (pot holder, I think) lol “Go Pack Go” thanks for sharing your content. It’s great
I made the second one tonight using the mini griddle instead of mini waffle iron. Really enjoyed the texture, but the cake was way too sweet for either of us. Will try again but will cut the sweetness.
I think the griddle would be perfect for making these as ice cream sandwiches. I need to develop a filling that's somewhere between ice cream and frosting that doesn't turn rock hard when frozen (which has been the case with every keto ice cream recipe I've tried).
Ooh wow, you have me at the filling. Ooh yeah!!! Looks amazing and no almond flower, amazing!! Thank you so much for this extremely low carb. recipe. Glad i found your recipe. Defiantly a new subscriber. ❤
"Chaffles" was always a gross sounding name Steve, lol! You nailed it with "Keto-Waffles" dude..... Kwaffles! Covers all the variations quite well. Always good stuff, thank you!
Hi, I clicked on the cocoa powder that's in your description and when I looked at the carb count it was 16 grams of carbs. There's another brand that only has 3 grams just curious why would you suggest us using a higher carb content item?
Wow! Just tried the simpler recipe by KCCat5, and I agree that it tastes pretty much just like a Hoho! We'll be doing this again (frequently)! Thanks!!
The first recipe is really good but I feel like you forgot a couple of ingredients. I added about 2 tbsp of almond flour and 1 tsp of baking soda. I've tried both versions and my version is soo delicious it's just like chocolate oreo cake. Also I use only a half tbsp of monkfruit/erythritol blend sweetener for the batter and frosting and it comes out just fine. 😄
I made the second one. My batter seemed really thin. The first one that I poured a whole bunch of it came out the side lol. Oops I used cacao. Next time I think I'll use a little less sweetener. I guess because I don't eat sweets anymore it was a bit overpowering. It was really good though. I ate it all lol.
We take waffles seriously in our house ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUfphIgghPSpAXNq6OG2WRYsFVqylcqMn and worked our old one through many years of Sunday brunches till it finally gave out on us. Lol I kept telling myself his voice was so familiar 😂

The cupcake Chaffle is awesome in flavor, but a little on the dry side in texture. I substituted sour Cream for the Heavy Whipping Cream and it greatly improved the texture to a cake-like texture! Thanks for this video share!
THANK YOU! turned out great with sour cream!
Thank you Steve I wish I could take credit for the recipe I don't know who originated it it's been passed around my Facebook group for months now. Whoever came up with it kudos to them
Well, you gave me the recipe, so you get the credit as far as I'm concerned. 👍
Do you know the macros for this recipe
@@louanneferracioli7521 they are in the recipe on his web at the link in the description above ♥

This hit the sweet spot! Thanks so much. Was about to fold at 9PM for something bad. This saved the day. 😋👍🏻
I tried the second one. It was great! I made it tonight and I was too lazy to get out the waffle iron, so I zapped it 90 seconds and made a mug cake. Yummy cupcake texture!

@0:20 "Call it what you want, I don't care" I LOVE IT LOOOOOOOOOL
For these, you can definitely call them "Chaffles" CHocolate waffles lol
asaintpi Hahaha.....Got That Right!!!
Right
You’re absolutely right if this is a chaffell I don’t know what it is🤣💕
Good point, I'm going to steal this thought (because the stickers will question it.)
Besides Cream cheese, is cheese, right?! 😁

Made these for Valentine’s Day today! With strawberries and whipped cream
They were just absolutely awesome! Thankyou!

I gota say out of all the people ivecwatched with keto recipes you are my favorite you make it easy
If they ever do a movie about the life of the great radio announcer Casey Kasem, you would be the perfect choice. You sound exactly like him, and he had a great voice!

Amazing how those look so cake-y without a bit of flour! Thanks for a great showdown. 🥰

I do some of my own variations of these. Because I don't like eggy taste I use egg whites.
I do one with powdered milk that tastes just like white bread.

Thank you for sharing. Will try both recipes soon!
ok~ I had to buy that cool whisk. thanks for all the links! Great recipes too :)
@TAM ... do you still like and use that whisk?... should I bother grabbing one too?...
Damn, you've brought such comfort to my kitchen! I can't wait to try these... whatever you call them.
You have that DJ voice over the radio. Lol love it!
Wow, thank you as these were so simple to make and were absolutely delicious P.S. I used regular cocoa powder but made the Hostess Cupcake Chaffles - OMG my sweet tooth thanks you!!
Cream CHEESE = Chaffle. There is cheese in it after all.
right on! 😄
That's what I came here to say. Cheese. Duh. (Now the second one, no cheese, but whatever.)
Cream Cheese in the filling...there’s the loophole 😎😂😂
@@bfontana1233 There you go! Loophole for the win.
🥰👍
The second one is my fav - just made it and forgot the cream - it was still delish!!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks Steve for making the comparison!!
I love your review videos with Terri, she’s very honest and I enjoy hearing a non-keto perspective on keto products!
You're very relaxing to listen to! Really enjoy the videos and appreciate the side by side comparisons.
Love it! Thank you for testing and sharing these recipes with us!!
glad you liked it.
Made the "simplified" Hostess style chaffle last night and they were beyond incredible! Can't wait to try the Oreo version when I can pick up some black cocoa powder.
Just got my black chocolate so I’m ready.
Oh this was sooo good...the first keto dessert that was a real hit with my family. Thank you!!
I'm diabetic and semi new to these keto recipes....i made your cauliflower mash recipe and loved it..it will help me a lot..i miss my potatoes..lol..will try this nxt thks
The cupcake chaffle is wonderful. Make these and your wife will like you again. Ordered some black cocoa for the oreo version
Buying black cocoa! I'm excited! I also am getting all my other Amazon things via your link! Doing what I can to support your channel! Thank you for your content!
I appreciate it. 🙂
Did the 2nd recipe use regular Cocoa Powder or the Black Cocoa powder?
I just made the easier recipe tonight and it was fantastic! I shared pictures and details with a keto oriented group I'm part of and they all drooled over it and swore to make their own.
You just popped up in my feed today. All I have to say is my husband is going to love you for sharing and comparing his all time favorite guilty pleasure. He is out of town on a job, but when he gets home we're going to have fun making these recipes for us both to enjoy. I did go and watch the video you linked. He will love the blueberry one too. Thanks for the taste test. It's always helpful to have these comparisons. Can't wait to try it!
If you like chocolate and waffles, you have to try these. These waffles are fantastic. I just made them. Without icing. They are delicious. They are soft. They are chocolatey. I'm going to use these as a base to try and make other desserts.
Your egg beat/whisker is so cool, I've never seen that before
Yeah, I love it. If you're trying to froth egg whites, it takes mere seconds.
Thanks Steve. My husband loves Hostess Ho Ho’s so I’m very glad to get this.

Tari N I can imagine ricotta being pretty darn good with these. 😋
I made the "complicated" recipe and omg, it is incredible. I added 2 TB of almond flour to mine. I will make these all the time!

I just made these using second recipe, one with loved them. My husband loved them too.
Enjoyed the kccat5 Oreo chaffle… excellent!
I just used the black cocoa powder in the KCCat5 version and I would say it was perfect. Nice and rich. Thanks for posting.
I'll have to give that try the next time I make one. Thanks!
Might i recommend using almond extract instead of vanilla, it gives more of the authentic cream filling flavor of the oreo LOVE you channel 😘 😘
Been watching your channel for almost a year and just now realized your in Wisconsin. lol
Waukesha south tee and your Packer’s (pot holder, I think) lol
“Go Pack Go” thanks for sharing your content. It’s great
🧀🙂🧀
Love the comparison recipes!
Glad to have you here.
"Chaffles" was always a gross sounding name Steve, lol! You nailed it with "Keto-Waffles" dude..... Kwaffles! Covers all the variations quite well. Always good stuff, thank you!
Lol kwaffles
Watch out J K Rowling doesn't see that ;)
I did use the black Cocoa and it made a huge difference.
Hi, I clicked on the cocoa powder that's in your description and when I looked at the carb count it was 16 grams of carbs. There's another brand that only has 3 grams just curious why would you suggest us using a higher carb content item?
What was the serving size for each? What were the net carbs?
I have to give these a try. I just got two mini waffle makers. Time for Oreo Chaffles!
Wow! Just tried the simpler recipe by KCCat5, and I agree that it tastes pretty much just like a Hoho! We'll be doing this again (frequently)! Thanks!!
Definitely has a strong Hostess vibe to it. 🙂
First time seeing this…
Excited to try!
I'm defiantly making these today. Thank you so much for the easy recipes.
Hope you enjoy
Great job.... love how you give credit where credit id due.....
THANK YOU Steve! I LOVE chocolate and plan to try BOTH recipes in the next week!
Can’t wait to try these!
I made the second one.
My batter seemed really thin. The first one that I poured a whole bunch of it came out the side lol. Oops
I used cacao. Next time I think I'll use a little less sweetener. I guess because I don't eat sweets anymore it was a bit overpowering. It was really good though. I ate it all lol.
I find that over the last several months, my desire for sweets has plummeted too.
Great review Steve. In this case Chaffle still fits (Chocolate Waffle). Can't wait to try either (both) of those.
Wow. I can't believe I didn't think of that. 😀
