Thanks for watching, yes its a great running motor ,I love the v8 chevy engines and also have a stroker 6.2 mpi and love how it runs ,plenty of power and higher rpm
@@Vassmotorsports that's excellent. Lots of people are afraid of boats I've gotten tons of good deals because of that you just gotta know what to look for and when to run away lol
Is that a OK0111111-OK999999 I think that’s the exact belt I need was wondering where you got yours and if there is a part number. That serial number isn’t exact but I know it’s something like that on the in between serial number lol. Your motor sounds great.
Thanks for watching Vassmotorsports, hope you check out some of my other videos, im not sure if the number is still on it or not. Does yours have a belt at all. Any parts store can measure and can buy one of theirs ,
Sorry to hear that, not a good situation, but hopefully fixable. Thanks for watching Vassmotorsports, hope you check out some of my other videos, ive owned a couple 2300sc and love those boats
Mine cranks like yours did but doesn’t fire. What were you doing with the throttle while cranking? Wondering what the trick is? Have also had some smoke into the carb while cranking and not starting. New to me maxum 2300 sc 1999. Great boat 👍
Thats just hitting the accelerator so itll pump some fuel in and once its running sometimes a carb engine needs it to stay running at first. If you getting smoke then its got fire to plugs and may have even been flooded to much fuel which youd have to wait a bit and try again or open throttle all the way or close to it while starting engine to burn the excess fuel in cylinders. Thanks for watching Vassmotorsports and hope ya check out some of my other videos
Thanks for watching Vassmotorsports, I have not used it yet ,but it sat a yr in my shop after this and i started and ran it again no issues before i dropped in into the boat 1 yr ago now and then we lost a some things in Hurricane Ian down Florida and the boat was here home in SC but got put on back burner ever since with so many other projects and boats , i cant imagine anything wrong with it and hope to get back on it this winter and have ready for spring , did you see the bass boat i restored recently and the beautiful wake boat I did my custom touches on? ua-cam.com/play/PLdT80g2lqT-CCYLNbUBrfjXbh5oOU48RN.html&si=VnJj3lhHJ27xIrin
Wondering where exactly you dump the fuel into? Just into the carburetor? I tried mine v6 alpha one, it took couple tries and started, but when I shifted it, it died immediately, then I tried couple more times, exhaust came out black smoke but not starting 😢, any advice is appreciated
i tried to pour most down the little vent for the bowl so it will be able to run until pump pushes fuel up and alittle bit runs into carb and intake so itll fire , if black smoke it may have been flooded depending how much you poured in ,and can usually open throttle all the way to let more air in as your spinning engine over ,if it stalled when putting into gear then it either wasn't running long enough or shift cable is to stiff or adjusted wrong and it hit the shift interupter switch on the manifold and is sticking. try using the idle mode by pushing the button in at bottom of the throttle handle to get her running and warmed up a bit before trying to engage into gear. thanks for watching Vassmotorsports and hope ya check out some of my other videos
@@Vassmotorsports Thanks for your reply and I agree everything you mentioned. I starting to shift it right after the engine up about 10 secs....The reverse gear is really stiff, I feel the pull will take about 20lbs to put it on reverse, I am having problem to back up the boat last year. i lube the shift cable, throttle cable where every i can reach a little, not help too much. thanks for mention the button under the throttle, i been thinking that's the shifting lock/release in the past two years.....
@@davidqi8073 if you push the button in and hold and try reverse, then back to Neutral and back to reverse with it engaging and its stiffer than when its pushed in its the lower shift cable which is very common to need to be lubed or replaced if its the nylon lined cable vs steel , and if to tight or takes to much force it will definitely engage the momentary kill switch and stall the motor
Thanks for watching Vassmotorsports, hard to say what your problem is , could be a bent or burnt valve issue , bad valve seat. Or worse would be a piston problem or cylinder wall
Yes that doesn't happen very often and It was over 6hrs from home but 20 minutes off the interstate when I was going to Florida on vacation anyways so I stopped and payed for it and he let me keep in his garage till I came back by going home week later. @tyler-rr6dy yes I know as I still look from time to time, I can always use another engine around the shop for when I find a deal on a boat needing an engine so I can restore and save it
Was very lucky. I watch marketplace constantly and found this one in jacksonville, I was taking vacation with another boat from SC to the Gulf coast near ft.myers few years back so i found it as soon as went online and made deal passing thru next day. Paid the guy and he left in his garage till i was passing back thru and picked up, so not everyone can be so lucky. Thanks for watching Vassmotorsports
