Great choice with the Mallory ignition system! Since it is Raw Water Cooled, let's hope that the builder used a bronze lined coolant cross-over intake manifold. The flywheel cover suggests that this engine is set up for a Merc I/O . Unfortunately, a 5.7L SBC, even if built correctly for marine cruiser use, will not produce a usable 330 horse power at the RPM in which we cruise at. The 330 hp rating occurs at 5,300/5,400 RPM or so. You may be able to pull that from a properly built 377 or 383 SBC. The upper portion of the exhaust system is an Elbow. This setup is not using spacers/risers. Suggestions for those of you doing the same or similar thing: ...while the engine has not yet been installed, purchase and install a remote oil filter system, and a remote oil drain system. ...when making the initial cam follower plunger depth adjustment (aka adjusting lifters), use the 8 stop static procedure. Do that, and you will not need to go back through them dynamically. ...if not already done, mark off the harmonic balancer up to 35 degrees BTDC. ... when timing the engine, focus on the Progressive and the Total Advance. ... I hate to see any fresh engine like this being Raw Water Cooled.... but that's your choice! I will say that it is a nice clean looking engine.
I forgot to mention the intake changes too I'm going to start building one next week I will post the build step by step this is a 1989 block with 1999 906 vortex heads comp cam 400hp like I said you have to play nice with the 1.50 Alpha 1 any thing over 320hp should have a Bravo 1 but if you take it ez out of the hole you will be okay and put a drive cooler on I like a nose cone on too just help with friction at high speeds on your lower unit just some ideas but I really like your exhaust I going to do that I just love the sound but my wife hates it so if it under the water off plane and quite in the harbor awesome but when I get out of the harbor I become that loud ass hole Oooo ya that's what I want I like watching sailors wave at me as I fly by lol tree huggers lol
It sounds very nice my friend I have a Chris Craft scorpion 23' I'm restoring right now I'm a marine engine builder nice job but if you want a little more but bigger difference put on a set of Chevy vortex heads casting number 906 the you have over 400hp just play nice with the drive lol iv been doing marine engine for 23 years 350s 383 454 496 502 525s trust me when I say you will shit when you hit it for the first time and the camel hump will not hold a candle to the 906 vortex heads and the push rods change but big difference nice work
It will absolutely be fine in salt water, as long as he flushes the engine after every use! My 4.3 L V6 has been in my boat for 23 years, runs and looks just as good as the day I put it in! My boat is docked in salt water all summer long!
Picture stock exhaust manifold now picture another manifold around that manifold water stays on the outside wall exhaust goes to the inside! Water in exhaust doesn’t mix until that first rubber connector coming off the riser!

Sounds soooo good!!! Still running strong 11 years later? Lol what a nice build 👌
I had the 28 ft with twin 350's. Awesome boat.
I bought some manifolds off Dennis Moore great guy, very helpfu
Absolutely beautiful brother
Hey lenny love the vid im sure you have had it in the boat 6+ years now enjoying it sounds awesome
Lindo motor!!!
Isto é realmente uma máquina maravilhosa! Eu tenho um mag 350, sou apaixonado por seu ronco!!!
this is sick, i want this in my runabout
I used to have a mid eighties Chris Craft Scorpion 196. I don't know why I got rid of that boat. It had a 200 HP Mercruiser with an Alpha Drive.
I think it looks and sounds amazing wish it was in my Boat 😊
You are going to wake up the neighbors man. lol!!
Damn that sounds good
Another management type
Got flip flops and shorts on, all set to really get down and dirty and do some supervising. 😅
Ellenbrock? Alunimun? Plemium?
Where do you get those rubber exhaust hose for those 4-inch stainless tube? I have those 4-inch tubes but can't find anything that properly fits
badass,I want to get a glastron 235 gxl with a 350 mag rather than the 5.0 and I want this sound.

Nice engine I have the same in a 28 ft chaparral
good job breaking it in.. (: red line it bro, sweet!
this is amazing
I think it's Edelbrock, Immaculate, Aluminum, Plenum, and Retardant.
it needs a heat exchanger with coolant fitted otherwise its no good for a salt water environment

Since my boat has twins .I’ll have to name my engines after my wife and my girlfriend!
What are the fans for?? You eun them in the boat???
Give your engine builder some props and provide a name and/or link.
Nice engine even came with a power steering pump?
Really nice whats stopping water from coming back in and hydro locking the motor
Picture stock exhaust manifold now picture another manifold around that manifold water stays on the outside wall exhaust goes to the inside! Water in exhaust doesn’t mix until that first rubber connector coming off the riser!
I got a 72 Chris Craft weather 350 flagship motor what can I do to give it a little more power
what kind of cam does it have
Were can ya buy the exaust
Flat tappet cam? If so what is the recommended RPM range from the builder?
How much does this engine cost
Order one from jegs
Very nice
Did they put it on the Dyno?
What outdrive you running
Cool
Where can i buy this engine?
dude your boat sank????
hi what is tha price for that motor
...p.s never good to free rev with no load...
And it don't even have a cam in it😢
is it diesel?
Diesels don’t have carburetors. A 350SBC is a gasoline engine.
Start up at 2.50
I NEED 1 HAW MATCHE PLASE
After I saw this, I have just thrown my old V8 engine to the sea...
Mưa ơi fdau mới chất lượng
I'm betting that thing cost a pretty penny.
Very interesting
always name ur engine after your wife lmfao!!!
Can you sell it to me
Once again it's aluminniiuum
...agreed youi don't ned to rev the b**ls off it anyway.
Sounds brill at tick over and just over.

That is sweet. Looks just like the one I just built. Check out my channel for my pallet run.
Claimed HP exceeds Alpha One 300 HP max.
Junky old block...
