    Interesting, especially as we've just bought a second Action 3. We love these cameras, especially compared to the unreliability of the Gopro.
    To be honest, I wasn't aware of the effect of ND filters on motion blurr so I've definitely learned something on this vid. Looks like we need to get these filters.
    We've used the Action 3 to film bike shows inside buildings at 4K 60fps and occasionally had overheat shutdown. Have you had that? Obviously, there are no problems in the airstream on a motorcycle.

    • @WheelieGoodTV

      Hi folks, I’ve never really used my action cam setup for anything inside so I can’t comment on overheating. I can honestly say in nearly a year of ownership, I have had zero problems with my Osmo action 3. So much so, I’ve just ordered a second one for my reverse angle.

    Seems like they work better on the OA3 rather than my GoPro 10. It tends to smear the footage on the GoPro because of hyper smooth needing a high shutter speed. I would think it would be the same with the dji cam but looks like it handles it’s digital stabilization better.

    Man great video, i read in more video tutorial, this: "the motion blur effect dont work if the rokstady stabilization are ON" with osmo action3, its true or not?

    • @WheelieGoodTV

      Thanks. It’s the other way around really. The stabilisation doesn’t work if you have the ND filter on BUT only in low light when the ND filter should NOT be on. In the correct light conditions, it all works together.

    • @WheelieGoodTV
      @WheelieGoodTV  Місяць тому

      @@Koensol I didn’t use any stabilisation. You should only use ND filters when needed. If the ambient light is too low then NO filters should be used. The stabilisation will NOT work if filters are applied when not needed.

    • @Koensol
      @Koensol Місяць тому

      @WheelieGoodTV You were driving your motorcycle in the daylight. If you'd use for example 180° rule at 25 fps, it would be a shutterspeed of 50, at which point the image would be overexposed without nd. Or were you using a higher fps?

    • @WheelieGoodTV
      @WheelieGoodTV  Місяць тому

      @@Koensol Correct with the shutter speed which was set to 50fps. I set the ISO to automatically adjust between 100-1600. It takes a bit of trial and error and experience to know when you need to use a filter or not. This does not mean the footage will be over exposed if a filter is not needed.

    Hi,
    Can you please clearify topic using ND +rocksteady?
    On Gopro I always 4x my shutterspeed with nd filters, overwise there lots of artifacts on video.
    OA3 doesnt have such problems?

    • @WheelieGoodTV
      @WheelieGoodTV  11 місяців тому +1

      The OA3 does not have these problems if you use them correctly. If you use any filters in low light when the filters don’t need to be used then the camera will produce artifacts. I don’t understand why you say 4 X the shutter speed. To stay inline with the 180 degree rule your shutter speed should only ever be twice that of your frame rate.

    • @ssoloviev85
      @ssoloviev85 11 місяців тому

      @WheelieGoodTV ,
      You right about 180° rule, and low light settings. But GoPro 10 only works with ND filters with 4x SS, or hypersmooth off. In bright shiny day using ND16🤦‍♂️
      Thank you, already order OA4, buy ND filter and test them properly when spring will come to Russia)

    • @rafisburganov
      @rafisburganov 10 місяців тому

      @@WheelieGoodTV video stabilisation heavily relies on ss. It MUST be 4x frame speed in order to work correctly (90 degree rule if you want). In your own video you can clearly see how algorithms are struggling to synchronize frames. The only option to shoot video with 180 degree rule on action camera without artifacts - is to disable digital video stabilisation and put the camera on a gimbal

    Hi Dave, even after watching a couple of times, I am still unsure whether ND filters are what I need to rectify something which is spoiling my videos. If you scroll to about 2:30 on this recent video of mine ua-cam.com/video/MHzyALBOx2w/v-deo.htmlsi=o-e7kk5hqfVGArwJ I am riding into full Autumn (low) sun, and it’s causing a white edge and dots which I think are reflections off the chrome. • @WheelieGoodTV
      @WheelieGoodTV  Рік тому +2

      Hi Ian, I’ve checked your footage and all it needs is a good lens clean inside and out. Buy a lens cleaner and use cotton buds right up to the edges on both sides of the clear lens filter. The ND filters and CPL won’t help this at all but they will definitely give you a much better picture. You have great sound quality so improving the picture will add for a greater all round production.
