  • This video is just an earnest and detailed answer to a question from Reddit.
There doesn't seem to be alot of info in micro crimpers out there so I thought I would share my experience.

Heyyy! Quick question.... I subscribed to your channel and watched a few videos over the last couple of hours... Thank You for your valuable information and education. On the topic of volume you explained how to change/alter volume. I am using blonde me. You used 1:2 ratio. If I use more developer like 1 part Lightner to 3 parts developer which is 20 vol..... will the mixed solution be stronger in the bowl?
    Thank You in advance ❤

Thank you for the sub! Yes increasing the developer ratio will increase the available oxygen marginally. 3:1 with 20 vol will give you an EWV of 15 but your consistency will start to suffer and a 1:1 with 30 volume will also give you an EWV of 15

I had a hair analysis in the past and was told I have fragmented hair medulla. Is that something you know about?

I have a video in this series about the medulla. I haven't posted it yet though. Mostly, as cosmetologists l, we deal with the cuticle and cortex. Many, if not most, people don't have a medulla ,(the very center) You probably have some hairs on your head with no medulla, fractured medulla and fully intact medulla. It is generally not considered a factor in cutting or chemicals.
So basically you are pretty normal and the state of your medulla has no bearing on the health of your hair or what you can do with it.

@CosmoDad I have moderately coarse hair that is curly and thick. It is hard to find products that work. Products that used to work have either been discontinued or reformulated. Also, it is hard to ask people with curly hair what they use because they always have fine or medium textured hair. If you can suggest any shampoos and conditioner brands I am in the USA.

What have you tried before, that used to work?

@CosmoDad Devacurl One Condition(very good I ordered the liter size until they removed the amodimethicone around 2005 I think because curly girls wanted silicone free!) then it did not work for me anymore and others took over the company long ago that Lorraine Massey started.
Graham Webb Back to Basics Coconut Mango Conditioner and Graham Webb Making Waves Curl Defining Gel. Long time ago the products were discontinued and Wella I think owns the company but those are gone.
Matrix Biolage Ultra Hydrating Shampoo and Matrix Biolage Conditioning Balm and Matrix Biolage Gelee. Those were great until they were bought out and products changed.
Tresemme Flawless Curls Shampoo and Tresemme Flawless Curls Conditioner but not since several years ago because they keep changing their formulations. They either have proteins or have no protein. My hair is coarse so does not do so well with repeated use.
Early 90s Paul Mitchell Sculpting Foam(it helped with frizz), Paul Mitchell Super Clean Gel, Paul Mitchell The Cream were all ones that worked for my hair. I used those for several years...but things change.
Pantene used to be good now awhile back they added the histidine which I think is an amino acid and my hair does not do so well with it but it used to be very good, their conditioners.
