  • The Georgia Senate bill to deregulate certain aspects of the beauty industry is widely misunderstood. Judging by some of the videos I've seen, even some of the lawmakers don't really know what they are advocating for.
Things are not as dire as they seem...

In the uk there is no licensing in hairdressing. You need to have level 2 and 3 nvq in hairdressing to work but that’s all!

I wonder how this would affect Lash Technicians ?

Yeah I genuinely don't see why one would need hours of school and a license to do a wash and blowout. We don't even require food service workers to have food safety licenses.

Really the main concern is sanitation and disinfection. Many states have braiders licenses that are like 16 hour sanitation courses. I would assume that they are still working in licensed establishments and receive proper training... Hopefully 😂

There should be no license required to do any of these things. A person could "advertise" if they do actually have a certain "education" or not, but it most definitely should NOT be required. The Government is far to involved in our lives.

The majority of licensing has less to do with beauty skills and more to do with public safety. Salons have the potential to be disease vectors and learning how to prevent their spread takes more than many unlicenced people realize.

@@CosmoDad I'm aware. Im an esthetician, but I don't practice. I think people should advertise if they are licensed (& many people may prefer to use educated/licensed professionals), however, I do not think that any license should be required to perform any of the things pertaining to the topic of this video. Anyone should be able to do these things for profit with or without a "license" to do so. Likewise, customers can make their own decisions about who they see fit to preform these things on them. The "government" doesn't need to make these decisions for anyone. That's my opinion, of course, & I respect anyone's right to have an opinion that differs from my own. However, my opinion won't change on this matter & I'd like to see the government "butt out" so to speak.
