OH. MY. GOD. Shelly Lyn's look at the start of this is perfection. I'd have been utterly mesmerised by her if she'd walked past me as a kid. Even now she's breathtaking, I LOVE her Showa-era glamour here, she looks like an old movie poster come to life. Nobody walks around like this, ever, anywhere. Gorgeous.
Una gran mezcla entre lo antiguo , moderno , exótico ....pero siempre elegante y glamorosa👋👋
Oh my goodness, SO stunning. Yma had incredible taste and such a unique look.
Woow, I'm Peruvian and I'm impressed that her clothes ended in other country. Her clothes are beautiful, aren't they? Here, in Peru we have the typical customs that look a lot like her beautiful designs. Pure art!
Damon, you must be a great guy for her to have entrusted you with so many of her pieces. Bravo!
You lady's are so lucky to have touched all the clothes she wore! I wanna try one of those capes 😎💗💕💞
That was truly wonderful to watch.
1:23 The first photo shows her when she was still known as Imma Sumack, which means, before recording in the US.
She was well known in Argentina and Brasil.
Amazing clothes from her, Greetings from Perú.
And the jewelry, which is very beautiful.
Su maquillaje impresionante hasta el final de sus días todo una Diva devine
Wow wow wow!! Ammmmazing!! What a gift to share 😍
Shame that those clips are always so short! I would have loved a little more backstory.
IKR! even the episodes as a whole feel so short. Some of these pieces and the people who owned them need mini series of their own to tell the whole story :)
I love Yma Sumac!
Yma Sumac se vistió como lo que era una Reyna
Ella aún es considerada como la reina del mambo, de la exótica y de la lírica andina.
Quizá también sea reina de las fusiones musicales y del canto amateur.
Grande yma sumac...💝💝
Shelly bares a striking resemblance to yma
What an amazing video!
Tenía buen gusto, combinaba muy bien lo moderno con representaciones andinas.
Hello, my name is JOSE, I liked the clothes, I'm from PERU, where ima sumac was born, the great lyrical singer, congratulations, a love of clothes, a charm, beautiful dresses, hopefully I can come to PERU, do a kind of catwalk , and show ima sumac's clothes. THANK YOU.
Exótica !! 👏👏👏
Aight. I can’t be the only one who thinks Nana Noodleman’s character from the movie “Sing” was based on this woman
Justo beautiful!!
🇵🇪 Perú 🇵🇪
Omg where is the rest
👏👏

What’s the name of that specific sun necklace ? I am Peruvian and I can’t find a sun like that one. It’s beautiful
Is she the woman in that famous green painting
Yes, they are all pictures of her or based on her.
Why does he have all her stuff?
Who is Uma and why is he selling all her stage clothes to them exactly?
Nothing was sold to them.
Yma was a latina, a peruvian soprano singer and she was popular in the 50s.
He was only showing them to the ladies. Yma Sumac had a 60 year international career and these things were left to him because he took wonderful care of her and gave her his young life. And she was very grateful.
The purple one looked like a saree
He's got his bare hands on the textiles. Holey crsp, wise up will you?
It looks like Mrs. Roper.
Oh that girl is from Hawaii.
Yma is a legend and I am not sure why this random guy is in possession of her stuff selling them to fans I think it is disrespectful. The Peruvian government should create a museum dedicated to her and have all that stuff there.
apparently they were close and she left those things to him, so he can do with them as he pleases. However, I happen to agree with you, he should donate them to a museum in Peru.
I took care of her...you did not. I am not some "random guy", thank you very much. I gave her my entire young life. I kept her from dying ALONE. I was with her for 11 years. She had no family. Peru was HORRIBLE to her in the mid 1960's and she did not return for 40 years. They had *completely forgotten her* till my website was published in 2005. The rest of the world adored her. Then all of a sudden Peruvians think they are OWED something ? Please. Peruvians AND Peru are owed nothing. Absolutely NOTHING. The two top comments here are the most UNINFORMED of all. Sad.
And another thing: she had a WAREHOUSE full of stuff. NO one in their right mind could possibly keep all of that. 500 pairs of shoes? Get real. I kept the most famous pieces for her archives, WHICH I OWN. The rest made fans happy all over the entire world. They cherish the pieces and brought them alive again. THINK before you speak, Teresa.
Demolitionman78 Darling you treasure those precious memories and pieces, she clearly held you in very high regard and thank you for sharing your story 💛
Thank you. Good to hear from you. I was by her side for her last 11 years. Wildly protective.
Those pieces should be here in Perú, where She was born and raísed. They Belong to all of us.
No they do not. She lived here 60 years. Her grave is here,. her fame was here. I took care of her...you did not. Peru did nothing for her. They didn't even carry her records when we were in Peru. The rest of the world...yes.
I agree....she was a Peruvian singing queen and those pieces should be in her native land.
You do know this show is fake? Everything on TV is fake! People can make replicas easy! Ever heard of the Chinese???
@@danzbutrfly if she wanted them to have her things, she would have left it to them. Do a little research on her life and how her "home" country treated her.
@@donnaclayton8644 I'm a young Peruvian man and it's really sad and unfair that she wasn't very loved in her land.
So far Yma doesn't have even a statue here.
Fastying babve ,lactuiary iy notborned ivspaer too bit ,,,,,, anDa gouasatras
How old was he when he made her up 10 , lies lies
You can't always tell how old someone is from what they look like.
i know right....hes too young..
This is smithsonian… not your average youtuber channel although this is UA-cam… oh my god
From the way he handled you know he knows the value, so guard your tongue
