*Sorry Guys I could only make this as an EDIT not a mod!* For anyone wanting to experience the story with the OG voice actor as Zack with updated graphics here you go! Some scenes still have the new VA (Caleb did pretty good in the latter half of the game I think) since the old game only voiced about 50- 60% of the scenes. EDIT: Wow I had no idea how many ppl also missed old Seph's voice (thought I was the only one in FF7R). But I admit I've fallen for Briana as Aerith, I prefer her voice.
I love Briana in Remake but as with most of the va's in crisis core reunion her line deliveries were generall vety deadpan/unenthusiastic. Much prefer the Aerith og crisis core va for THIS game
You know the thing that Rick Gomez did so well voicing Zack, he understood that you’re supposed to think of Zack like he’s your big brother. It came across in the way he voiced him, from his inflections to his tone. That’s really what Caleb’s performance is missing.
I prefer Caleb. I got a lighter tone of voice myself but for the delicateness it had strong personality and even gave the 16 year second-class super soldier feel at the start in my opinion.
I think Crisis Core's melodramatic poetry vibe was easiest to take with this more muted and subtly expressive voice acting from Rick Gomez. I think he did a fantastic job and his tone perfectly fit the character. I'm sorry, Caleb, but your delivery just sounds either flat and awkward or overacted and reactionary. I also love how flat-out annoyed the OG Zack sounded whenever Genesis started his spiel.
I'm not deterred by Caleb Pierce's performance but I commend your audio editing skills. A lot of people have been pumping out low effort garbage by just syncing up old audio with the new footage. But you did a pretty good job at isolating and blending the old and new audio and music. And you've done a big favor for the people who wanted to hear this who don't have the editing skills.
Damn, really miss Rick's voice. I'm actually thinking of making an expanded version of the OG VA mod where the previously unspoken lines are voiced using an AI trained dataset of Rick Gomez's voice. I dabbled with a few vocal synthesis tools to generate the dialogue using the trained dataset. With a little tweaking I got some pretty convincing results!
@@zealousrunner7 It's possible but it'll take a lot of time! Training an AI voice takes a few days to do & results aren't always perfect. Not to mention the generated dialogue will need a lot of tweaking to make it sound 'natural' enough & I'll need to go through hundreds of unspoken dialogue, just for Zack alone. I can only do so much so i'm just doing Rick's dialogue for the time being. I miight possibly take on Sephiroth when i'm done with Zack & have free time, but no promises of course.
I get what people mean by not liking Sephiroths new VA. I thought he was alright, but now I realize he lacks emotion. The old VA, you could hear the smirk in his voice even though he delivered the lines in a calm way. The new VA makes him sound less relatable/human and that is what OG CC did for him. It made it sadder when he went crazy.
They should put a special DLC with Pre Recorded Original Cast from the Original Crisis Core as well with the original soundtrack from the original Crisis Core
They definitely will tbh there voice lines are still in yhe game i noticed angeals og voice actor when i played and zacks when he was talking with cissnei

I never got to play this when I was younger, and now that I'm older I don't have the time to game as much as I used to. So I decided I'd watch this, like a movie, and get the story from here! I knew somebody would do this. Many thanks! It's not like Caleb's voice acting is bad, no, but it's just different. Voice is quite different too. That's why it's hard to get used to it after iconic Rick Gomez's delivery. He's perfect as Zack. It's hard to fill those shoes. As for others, I like new Angeals voice, Genesis is big improvement. Obviously, Cody as Cloud is perfect. And I don't know, why so much hate for Sephiroth's new VA? I like him, he does a really good job, but sometimes he sounds a bit softer, than OG actor. Cisney's voice I like the older one a bit better.

I loved reunion seeing all my fave characters in this gen & all the environments in this gen - absolutely stunning & I’m so happy SE listened to our pleas for a this gen CC. But my only gripe was the voice acting - it really was an issue for me unfortunately. I had to play with Japanese VA cause the new VA’s really jarred my experience & didn’t convey/deliver the lines with the emotional depth that was needed, they just didn’t portray the same emotion & personification of the characters correctly due to how they delivered the lines with a lack of understanding the characters personality they’re playing Voice acting is still acting at the end of the day, you’re still playing a role, even tho we can’t see their face. It is important to the experience that it’s cast correctly & portrayed well & unfortunately I didn’t get that for the majority of them. The four mains really - Zack, Seph, Angeal & Genesis. It goes without saying that Rick Gomez is amazing as Zack & new VA def isn’t a patch on him. He can’t seem to convey mood through his voice very well & so it’s just the same tone & sound all the way through, as opposed to differentiating between happy, angry, sad, etc. just sounds like he’s not serious the whole time, when there are very dark moments in this story/emotions he feels. It’s the same tone for every mood. The extra little grunts, sighs & little nuances like that really elevates Ricks delivery of his lines to the next level. Impeccable acting & performance from him. As I say, not even just him tho - I feel the main 4 were really off & flat - I just hope someday they release a DLC where we can play with the OG voices, I would be all over that - day 1 purchase!! Idve loved if it had all the OG voices in this video tho coz as I say Seph genesis & Angeal were off too. if you ever do that tho with all the voices, that would be awesome!! I wanna play CCR so bad but I just CANT without the OG english VAs (I also cant Jap VAs) so I DID NOT BUY ONE OF MY FAV GAME OF ALL TIMES 😭 The OG english VAs affects the game so much for me

After seeing this, I just can’t with the new va. It’s just not Zack. I’m not even nostalgic because I didn’t play the psp version but this Zack is just wayyy better.
I think the new FF7R cast does an amazing job, ESPECIALLY Briana White as Aerith. But just like Briana, Rick Gomez brought heart and soul to a character we could care less about. To see him gone and replaced with a hit/miss performance was just Sad. I honestly feel bad for Caleb because of the ENORMOUS shoes he had to fill, and he did pretty well in the later half of the game, but it wasn’t enough. Rick Gomez IS Zack. And there is no getting around that. I do wish Caleb luck in the next FF7R installments.

I think the voice acting in the Final Fantasy VII Remake was great! I was first skeptical about Zack, Sephiroth, and Reno's new voices, but they ended up growing on me. Zack's new voice actor still sounds a bit odd, but I noticed that throughout the second half of Crisis Core Reunion, he was actually improving! It reminded when Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep was first released, Aqua's voice actress sounded a bit awkward in the beginning of the game. Then she improved and does an outstanding job!
Honestly in my opinion, the new VAs are phenomenal in FFVII. Im just disappointed with Zack's VA, and only his. Just doesn't fit his character and makes him sound super goofy. Im sure Caleb did his best as his role as Zack but it just doesn't fit him. Cloud's old VA was decent, but the scream he had at the very end made me giggle, ruining the impactfulness it showed. His new va did incredible when it came to showing emotion it was awesome. Aerith's new VA felt more lively and more outgoing!

The only reason they didn’t go with the legacy cast was maybe it was due to the game having potentially been delayed due to trying to find them all perhaps.

is this the original psp audio? i heard that all of the original lines are still in the remasters files which are not compressed due to the PSP's hardware
The horror stories out there about JRPG voice direction would sound like a deranged conspiracy theory if they didn't come directly from the VAs themselves. Many of these performances are straight up sabotaged.
I've been blessed, but I also miss Sephiroth, Cissnei and Genesis voices, especially Genesis since he had a bad VA in DoC and here imo but not the OG Crisis Core, he sound so much in character.
I think that might've been because they had Gackt, the inspiration for his character design and Japanese VA, voice him during that scene. His accent and pronounciation was very off.
Ahh... 😌 the "What the hell did you do, Angeal!" gave me life again. 💕 I've grown to get used to Caleb's voice especially those mini cutscenes(DMW flashbacks) since Rick didn't get to voice those. But having Rick voicing as Zack just makes Zack more... I dunno, alive, I guess. But that's also due to the fact that I grew up with Rick's voice as Zack so I am a bit bias towards Rick. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to edit this! I know it wasn't easy cause we're also busy with life/work and such. The new voice is NOT FINE. It's straight trash and was done purely for Sony USA contracts. It was never about English speaking fans. It was done to only our VAs.
god damn, if Cloud didn't qualify for SOLDIER at this point then what the hell is the qualification for SOLDER? He leaped up a gigantic stairwell and about 30+ feet into the air with a several hundred pound sword, gets stabbed clean through the spinal cord and guts and STILL is alive and yeets Sephiroth into the life stream killing him?
How vould u not miss old sephiroth why u think many were dissa. When they made the changes. We all played the PSP and loved it its memorable AF. New game is nice new combat is awesomeness but if only they all had never changed yhe voices the new game wouldve been memorable and i would never sell the damn thing in y life ever.
The moment Sephiroth speaks here, his first line is already leagues worse than George Newbern's delivery 😂. He sounds so...bland! Newbern's Sephiroth has a tinge of cockiness/teasing to his voice. Like, you can hear him wagging a finger at you just by his voice alone. It's not over the top to the point of arrogance, like Genesis, but it's noticeable. I miss hearing that. He's also quite sultry and I feel like his new VA is scared to go there and lean into that. Let's be honest, depending on who you ask Sephiroth ranges from a little bit gay to a lot a bit gay 😅. You can't have lines like, "On your knees. I want you to beg for forgiveness," or the amount of times Sephiroth has gotten up close and personal to Cloud and whispered in his ears and not wonder if maybe this character wasn't designed to be straight, lol (also, his clothes. Exposed chest in a military that until very recently has only been shown to have men? And why was he shirtless in his final battle with Cloud?! 😂) Speaking of which, he also *really* likes to say Cloud's name. And lastly, and I've not confirmed this, but I heard that supposedly, Sephiroth in Japanese speaks to Cloud the way a wife would speak to her husband. Again, not confirmed...but it would make a hell of a lot of sense. I feel like somehow, Newbern was able to vocalize all of this in his performance of the character, all of his little nuances.

I think the voice acting in the Final Fantasy VII Remake was great! I was first skeptical about Zack, Sephiroth, and Reno's new voices, but they ended up growing on me. Zack's new voice actor still sounds a bit odd, but I noticed that throughout the second half of Crisis Core Reunion, he was actually improving!
It reminded when Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep was first released, Aqua's voice actress sounded a bit awkward in the beginning of the game. Then she improved and does an outstanding job!
Setting aside personal opinions, which is a subjective topic, it'd be nice for the original FF7 voice option for the game
Honestly in my opinion, the new VAs are phenomenal in FFVII. Im just disappointed with Zack's VA, and only his. Just doesn't fit his character and makes him sound super goofy. Im sure Caleb did his best as his role as Zack but it just doesn't fit him. Cloud's old VA was decent, but the scream he had at the very end made me giggle, ruining the impactfulness it showed. His new va did incredible when it came to showing emotion it was awesome. Aerith's new VA felt more lively and more outgoing!
Original VAs are what defines their characters and were born to voice their characters and they've brought legacy to the franchise

The only reason they didn’t go with the legacy cast was maybe it was due to the game having potentially been delayed due to trying to find them all perhaps.

The new VA for Zack can't be blamed here because he tried his best. But however the Voice Director is to be blamed because of his stupidness
The horror stories out there about JRPG voice direction would sound like a deranged conspiracy theory if they didn't come directly from the VAs themselves. Many of these performances are straight up sabotaged.
I've been blessed, but I also miss Sephiroth, Cissnei and Genesis voices, especially Genesis since he had a bad VA in DoC and here imo but not the OG Crisis Core, he sound so much in character.
I think that might've been because they had Gackt, the inspiration for his character design and Japanese VA, voice him during that scene. His accent and pronounciation was very off.

Ahh... 😌 the "What the hell did you do, Angeal!" gave me life again. 💕 I've grown to get used to Caleb's voice especially those mini cutscenes(DMW flashbacks) since Rick didn't get to voice those. But having Rick voicing as Zack just makes Zack more... I dunno, alive, I guess. But that's also due to the fact that I grew up with Rick's voice as Zack so I am a bit bias towards Rick. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to edit this! I know it wasn't easy cause we're also busy with life/work and such. But from the bottom of my heart, I thank you for this. 🙇♀️ you just made my day. Thank you so much. ❤️

god damn, if Cloud didn't qualify for SOLDIER at this point then what the hell is the qualification for SOLDER? He leaped up a gigantic stairwell and about 30+ feet into the air with a several hundred pound sword, gets stabbed clean through the spinal cord and guts and STILL is alive and yeets Sephiroth into the life stream killing him?

How vould u not miss old sephiroth why u think many were dissa. When they made the changes. We all played the PSP and loved it its memorable AF. New game is nice new combat is awesomeness but if only they all had never changed yhe voices the new game wouldve been memorable and i would never sell the damn thing in y life ever.
As much as i love this i can see/hear the lack of direction the new VA have as Rick Gomez sounds disconnected with them (just my opinion tho)

The moment Sephiroth speaks here, his first line is already leagues worse than George Newbern's delivery 😂. He sounds so...bland! Newbern's Sephiroth has a tinge of cockiness/teasing to his voice. Like, you can hear him wagging a finger at you just by his voice alone. It's not over the top to the point of arrogance, like Genesis, but it's noticeable. I miss hearing that.
He's also quite sultry and I feel like his new VA is scared to go there and lean into that. Let's be honest, depending on who you ask Sephiroth ranges from a little bit gay to a lot a bit gay 😅. You can't have lines like, "On your knees. I want you to beg for forgiveness," or the amount of times Sephiroth has gotten up close and personal to Cloud and whispered in his ears and not wonder if maybe this character wasn't designed to be straight, lol (also, his clothes. Exposed chest in a military that until very recently has only been shown to have men? And why was he shirtless in his final battle with Cloud?! 😂)
Speaking of which, he also *really* likes to say Cloud's name. And lastly, and I've not confirmed this, but I heard that supposedly, Sephiroth in Japanese speaks to Cloud the way a wife would speak to her husband. Again, not confirmed...but it would make a hell of a lot of sense. I feel like somehow, Newbern was able to vocalize all of this in his performance of the character, all of his little nuances.
