As soon as the Medieval II music hit I was temporarily banished to a flashback. The game looks fun, and I agree with the slight obsession of reading every ruleset that I come by.
Super cool to heartless insights on the expanded design! Already downloaded the charts and looking forward to using them in our next BIG Lion Rampant game. Thanks for posting.
I played LR a few times and thought the rules were pretty solid. However, I shy away from skirmish games as I much prefer rank and flank games. I’m looking forward to trying this melding if the two out. Great video.
Sound advice 👌 👍 I've been thinking about what might need to be changed in another "Rampant" game, Rebels and Patriots, to allow bigger battle Napoleonic games. Ditching the "blob" unit that can fire and move in any direction seems a good one to change, with the exception of skirmishing.
Our wargames group in Salem Oregon fought a similar battle a few years ago. LR falls apart in bis games when archery/horse archery can be concentrated on a target unit. Knights were obliterated as every bow armed Saracen in the grid square were firing at them. Skirmish level games don't generate the same effect.
Nice to hear his thoughts in twealking the rules. However, there are no files for this at the Free Stuff section of the website. Are they somewhere else? Love the channel! Thanks.
Interesting... I would have said the biggest thing you need to address is the command system, where your turn ends immediately on a failed command roll and which has no way to give group commands. This pretty much kills the game as the army size increases unless you do something about it. Even dividing into subcommands only goes some of the way to solving the problem. You can't just infinitely keep adding more commands.
Chris addresses that with a reroll system based on the commander. Saladin gets 3 rerolls per turn, while most commanders get 1 or 2. That largely addresses the problem we found
I loved the battle, but wasn't a huge fan of some of the rules. Knights like to fight, but the movement to get into range to fight is still a higher roll.
Understandable, how about a topic that should be near and dear to a club from PA. I don’t believe?? little wars has tackled the early French and Indian War, more specifically the Braddock campaign. I only say this as you have a strong professional force that in an open field could win easily but may be undone by harsh terrain and non linear fighting. There is also the fact that you have an interesting mixture of Redcoat regulars and American provincial troops. Nothing to say of Braddock’s junior officers and teamsters who are a who’s who of major leaders in the future American Revolution.
You guys have become like a drug for me. Constantly checking if something new is released and re-watching old videos for the 100th time 😂😂
At least we are a good habit forming drug! Toy soldiers is good for the soul. Maybe not for the wallet though!

I’m reaching my «zen» when I am gaming or painting, so yes, couldn’t agree more 😁
I'm a simple man, I hear Total War music - I click like.

So stoked to see Lion Rampant on here, it's such a great system.
It really is. One of the best Osprey wargames published
Would love to see more, the battle worked out amazingly would love to see a whole crusade or a specific campaign
Could you please do an rules review of De Bellis Magistrorum Militum (DBMM)?
Another fantastic video. Loved the game, great to get more information about how you managed to pull it off.
Now, I am REALLY feeling my age with that music 🤓😎
You and me both Joshua…
So glad you guys are back on your usual schedule! Every video a gift so thank you!
Awesome idea! Could easily use these rules to to make that other games like rebels and patriots and make it a mass battle

I’ve never played a game this big, but I do so love seeing these large table battles! Awesome video!

Great video.
I constantly wait for your new content to drop, I love watching you guys. Keep up the good work!
We will be back next week!
I convinced my RPG group to play wargames, and one of the chosen games is Lion Rampant, so is a perfect time to send them this video!!!
The new room will need some kind of acoustic baffling to keep the echo down. Some tapestries maybe???
Yes we will get something in there!
I was going to suggest the same thing!
“Great minds think alike” and as my mother in law says, “Fools never differ!”😉😁
Thanks for sharing this gents!
Interesting. Many thanks for sharing.

We are playing 30 year war wuth Pikesman Lament rules :) and it is working beatifully, even with warlord epic pike and shotte basing.
Very good game. Very fun watch and for sure made me want to play the games
Wouldlove to see a full campaign of this
1:24 Age of Saladin, yes please!
Great video! Maybe need to add some noise insulation foam in the room, the audio is a little echoey
Awesome stuff! Any plans to return to Live Free or Die for the coming 250th anniversary of AWI starting next year?
Yes!!
@LittleWarsTV Sweet!!
Bribery is always encouraged! 3:12
Thank you for the video. That looks and sounds interesting. Where did the guys in the video get their models from?
These are Pendraken 10mm figures
All of our games in this family of rules are "battles" with multi-figure bases and no blob units.
Cool

Yeah !!! 😃👍🏻
Since you have the board already I suspect this may show up again with Napoleon.🦍

These tweaks to "Lion Rampant" almost sound like the Napoleonic "Blucher" rules.
I know you fight for God...
technically both sides did!
@@milesreidy7864 it's lyrics for the song in the beginning
We realize the theme on the new game room but a little heavyyyy on the ancients/medieval lately gents!
We like to hop around with our periods. Next up, 1941….
