The Gold bonds is no longer graded by PSA if its missing the serial number and die cut. I have a lot of golds from this set and backdoor cards are a problem
what i found as a seller is what you said at the beginning. $1 boxes are absolute gold. I will have showcase loaded with great cards and my dollar box will sell double the value of my showcase.
Great video. My favorite part was seeing how you paid 420 for a lot with that Maxey card and you selling that card a lone for almost the whole amount of the lot you bought it with. You recouped your money right away for a profit. Makes me want to sell cards at a show.
I do understand not wanting to invest into 1 of 1 Keegan Murrays because he is still mostly unproven but but I think it is selling him short to call a year 2 4th overall pick "just a role player." Dude's nice with genuine upside to become the second best player on that team in a couple of years. (maybe even as early as next season) Obv he's a bit old for sophomore standards, but I do think he is an interesting player to keep an eye on.
That's probably a backdoor copy of the Finest gold. 99 is the 1st year of the Gold refractor and pack pulled cards have edge & serial numbering. For backdoored copies, they decrease the value a lot (think of white box cards compared to regular pack pulled cards), so I personally would not have even went for it at that price. Kobe Ruby he had was super nice tho!
I think if you are only selling cards then being a dealer is ideal. If you do both at shows then it would be best to have someone with you so you are able to walk around
I was looking for this comment. I was sure somebody thought the same as me and here you are. absolutely wild. as a kid, I invested in players who were promising young players at the time, but those cards were usually never more than a couple bucks each. I look back and think to myself how most of those players (nearly all, it feels) didn't really pan out. even players Darryl Strawberry who had a blistering start to his career, who really wants his cards now? the people who throw hundreds of dollars around for these kinds of players should do what the dealer did - and that is to bow out and take your profit while one still exists. if Maxey just turns out to be a serviceable player, almost all of the value of that card will be washed away by the market.
fact is there is to many low hanging fruit grabbers and the hobby has turned to shit, Until real collectors start getting into it and everyone stops trying to profit off each other it wont get any better. Most the modern cards will be the next version of junk wax if not worse
Trike I have a queston, I have roughly 15-25 cards over 50 and 5 over 100 with one being worth 800, is this +Doller boxes+15 jerseys (Just jerseys) enough to setup?
Depends on your situation. If you’re paying $700 to set up at burbank with limited inventory then probably not worth it. But if you’re setting up at a local show and want to try it out then I say go for it!
Love the content dude! U definitely know what ur doing and as a long long time collector, im soon hoping to get into the selling part too so find ur videos informative!!
@@TRIKESportsCards honestly you might've lucked out. I'm not an expert on that era but I've definitely heard to avoid the unnumbered stuff (when they're suppose to be numbered) as they ware said to be backdoored and really shouldn't even have got graded. Granted, it was for your PC. The "error card" and "never seen another" stuff adds up to me...
@TRIKE415SportsCards he's shooting 38.9% and he's hucking 7+ 3's a game at 30.1%. I'm sure his numbers will be better but this isn't a small sample size. His upside is more than a role player but at this point how can you call him anything else?
It's insane you got like 11 year old kids haggling with professional dealers to buy $600 downtowns or something lol. Like what the hell is going on? It's especially uncomfortable seeing kids bundling several cards into complex sales or trades. The whole thing is just weird to me.
Despite all the complaints about the cost of living etc there are a lot of people who have a money to throw around. Guessing it’s a rich kids allowance.

Really appreciate this video. Considering setting up myself for the first time and this is great perspective. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed!
The Gold Bonds was definitely a backdoored copy. No serial and no die cut is always a red flag
What is backdoored?

That’s good info to know, thank you!
there will always be hits & misses every now and then in cards trading. It's a learning curve. Is this your side hustle ?
what app are u using for comps
I think if you are only selling cards then being a dealer is ideal. If you do both at shows then it would be best to have someone with you so you are able to walk around
What display case do you use?
I would have bought the dollar box for 50 bucks all day could have sold that for 100 bucks there no problem
Another awesome video, great to see a dealers perspective. Keep up the great content Troy 👍
Thank you!
What app do you use for comps.
A kid walks up and says, "Yeah. I can do $400.00." What a world.

I sell on whatnot but i dont grade my own cards and im kind of in the whole on money spent so it looks like i may have to open up to grading
Awesome video!! Thanks for showing the dealers side
How many tables did you recommend?

Appreciate that!

Love the quality! If I may ask what do you use to record? Is it the camera glasses or do you have a go pro attached to your chest?

The Barry Gold at the end sure was interesting. Great video!
Definitely, thank you for watching!
Lucky he didnt buy it , will take him forever to profit on that card
Awesome video bro! 🔥 🔥
You didn’t end up letting us know if you got the deal done or not 😅
Keegan Murray role player??
Yes…what would you describe him as?
@@TRIKESportsCardshe’s 23 and in my opinion (when healthy) already surpassed the role of role player. When he’s 25 he could be an all star likely.

Good stuff

have you been to hickory card

I have not but I want to

Good job passing on the box of paper rookies. Even at $50, the upside is not there. You might make a profit after a year haha.
Agreed!
Great content as always! You're a big reason I created my channel and I'll be giving you a shoutout in an upcoming video. Keep it up!
