I have had great success gathering FMs and CBs from different guilds while aboard the space stations. Maxing out your standing with each guild is very beneficial. The rewards are great! 👍
Exocraft with upgrades can scan for crashed freighters, the "cars" you need the upgrades to the scanners, while the Minotaur and the Nautilus both only require the 1 scanner. Though it does necessitate to land on planets. Sending frigates out to do missions can net you fleet salvage modules, and nexus missions and station missions often reward them. When digging for cargo stuff you can increase or decrease the size of the hole, in this case maximum size helps speed things up. I suggest docking at an outlaw station and picking the missions for attacking merchants if you are gonna try and get loot from them, 2 birds 1 stone. Overall this is a really good video, wasn't aware of the Pirate Cruiser method for the salvage stuff. 👍

The missions providing frigate modules is good point I missed. Perhaps I mention this is a video about Race Standing, and why it's worth it. Theres so many ways of doing and getting things in NMS.

I used to work hard to beat the freighter befor it destroyed the civilian ships, now I know why I was not getting S class modules. Thanks. PS I kill the engines then only take out the shield generators They always give up after that.

Systems have specific derelict, which give specific grades of upgrades at the end. You can also use a trick to not consume your emergency signal scnner by activating it, putting it in your personal refiner, then pulse jump to find the derelict. Go in as normal until you use the computer to open the door, once the door opens, take the scanner out of the personal refiner. You want to find a system that has an S class upgrade as the reward at the end guaranteed, and keep reusing the derelict scanner

The last method of destroying freighters is definitely the best !! I managed to get 10 s class upgardes in 30min which is a lot better than simply going to direlect freighters thanks a lot man!!
it's been a while but back in the day if you pirated frigates in a pirate-controlled system you wouldn't lose standing with any faction. Also, the Nautilon (submarine exocraft) can scan specifically for sunken freighters, for free - you just need to buy the tech from the Anomaly and install it. I'm just getting into exocrafts actually so I suspect the land rover one and the others must have a specific scanner for crashed freighters a swell. Several UA-cam have variations of your guide, this is what I now understand. 1. If your in game for 3hrs, and have jumped 5 times from systems, your 5 jump will spawn a freighter battle. 2. During this 5th jump if you jump to Pirate system, it will spawn Pirate freighter battle. If not looking to upgrade to S-class Pirate freighter, let it kill civilian freighter, then disable engines and guns, gives you S-class freighter tech, then land in freighter talk to captain to get $6.7 million. 3. If farming Pirate freighter battles, then jump to next Pirate controlled systems till another battle spawns. 4.If farming freighter tech, then jump to 3 star systems and kill all large freighters in area for S-class freighter tech.

@@cecilb7927 you can get those for free at space stations once you're at the max affinity with the different guilds. Warp to different systems till you find two that have the bulkheads and just warp back and forth between the two grabbing them for free each time. They automatically respawn once you leave teleport to a different station and back. Just rinse and repeat till you have all you need
I saved my game before warping to a Pirate System. Disable the Pirate Dreadnaught and boarded it. Once you land in the hanger, use your scanner to look at the floor to see what class it is. If it wasn't what I wanted, I reloaded my last save before I made the warp and warped back to the Pirate System since it was now guaranteed to spawn a Dreadnaught. I just repeated this until it was an S-Class.
The best way I’ve found to get these is during an expedition, right before it ends, commit acts of piracy and you get one of these with each freighter destroyed. And the faction standing doesn’t carry over.
NOTE!!!!! You need EITHER minimum 3 hours of play from when you load up your game (resets after pirate or pirate dreadnought encounter) OR to have warped minimum 5 times from when you have loaded up your game. Also resets after whichever encounter you get
It kinda sucks that you have to tank your reputation with a race/races if you do the easiest method to obtain freighter upgrades. I had maxed out my reputation with, I believe it was the Gek and then destroyed a Gek Freighter and accompanying Cargo Pods in a Pirate System and essentially tanked my rep with the Gek to just about as low as it would go.
Yea I get that. But I guess having a consequence for doing something is a good mechanic, in my opinion. Can always get that rep back up again - bit of a grind though.
The only way i seem to get upgrade modules is when there is a dreadnought encounter i dusable the shields and engines but then let the dreadnought destroy the civilian freighter then take it the cannons and i get upgrades from the destroyed civilian ship
I just tested it. It worked beautifully i managed yo get 10 s class upgrades in less than an hour . You have to attack merchant freighter which has a shield around it and destroy it

Don't delete the goop! Put them in your personal refiner. They will change resource types a few times but always end up as nanites in the end. Free nanites!

i think it's still a bug, that you get those S-class freighter upgrades at all after the civillian freighter is destroyed. That does not make any sense and does not feel as a reward at all. It's much too easy to get those once you know how this works. It also does not make any sense that you can demand a tribute and then also being able to destroy the freighter for more units. The whole dreadnought freighter battle system is kind of messed up in my opinion. It also makes salvaging a derelict freighter kind of pointless.
Removing the slime unlocks the pod. If you don't immediately get another item after clearing the slime, then try interacting with the pod a second time. Then run away; the pod releases a lot of radiation when opened.
Idk why people say pirate freighters. I have yet to get one to drop. All of my upgrades have dropped from regular freighters in non pirate systems at a 100% drop rate.

when did you do this? because that was the strat i used the last time i played (around 3 years ago) but coming back to the game a couple months ago i’ve checked easily over 30 freighters in the past 2 months and i’ve found 1 frigate upgrade module that way, i had to figure out other ways to get them

I'll upload a video tomorrow showing how I do it ✌️ All I know is that I farmed so many that I've handed out dozens randomly at the anomaly. The reputation loss is a good thing because it gives me another thing to do lol

Try playing it in first person and destroying all the stuff on the ship. Trust me you get confused but for me I got used to it. I always like playing first person.🤷♂️🙂

You do not need to go to a pirate system to get the modules if you go to a regular star system any system you can get the modules by destroying any of those ships. If it's a pirate system you're not going to get squat.
For real this is literally the easiest way. I didn’t get a single drop from dreadnoughts but I got guaranteed S classes from regular system freighters.

When I do that the rewards don't change. I kept getting the same C class upgrade.

I've only got frigate modules and cargo bulkheads, not tech upgrades for the Freighter.
I meant the cargo bulkheads, them being so scarce has kept me from doing much with freighters

Always the way! You can carry on your save when you have completed the expedition if you want to.

Donating the crew manifest and captain's logs gives you race standing, not guild standing.

Strange, when I check cargo pods from crashed freighter, the only thing I get is slime, nothing else.

When I tested it, if the civilian freighter didn't die, I didn't get an upgrade when destroying the pirate freighter 🤷
