I do hanfu and we all bow all the time. For those who don't know about it, hanfu is chinese traditional clothing from before the qing dynasity and since in ancient times this was the common procedure, we do also bow in front of each other.
It is quite nice I think. The girls mostly do a little knee bend and a slight bending of the head instead if they wear a big headpiece. That was also done during ancient times.
And since we wear hanfu very frequently we kinda got used to duing it all the time. So we also sometimes do it when we happen to meet in modern clothing.

I’ve only had one Chinese friend named Grace that’s the name she used since people had difficulty speaking her name. We used to sit together at church and at potlucks. Although she barely spoke English I felt a special connection with her and I loved her as a sister. She got married and moved. It was nice having her as my friend and I will never forget her.

I love those old Chinese greetings. I wish different countries would hold onto the things that made/make them unique. The world is getting pretty boring lately. I always think of it as all the interesting colours mixing into one...

What do you mean, bowing is part of of Chinese etiquette, but it just was abandoned.

It's a pity. Bowing and tau tau began in China and China should get back the culture of its Golden Age.

same. i learned sin li in my elementary days but even that has disappeared now in schools.
it seems like has completely replaced that with western gestures

Really great episode guys. Very interesting whilst at the same time, pretty funny and enjoyable to watch/listen to!
Could you possibly keep the Chinese Pinyin and Characters that you're discussing on the the screen for a little longer please?
Either way, thanks for uploading this!

It's confusing a bit, because I saw a lot of people bow. Not like very deeply as showed, just a small bow while meeting a stranger or thanking someone. Is that kind of bow acceptable?

Totally true. It baffles me when I see TV shows interpreting Chinese people bowing. Unless it's a historic context, otherwise, I have hardly ever seen any Chinese bowing, unless they're bowing out of confusion to a foreigner who bowed first. They just look at each other like "this crazy laowai? is that what laowai do? DO they bow to say hi? Well we don't want him to feel embarrassed so we'll bow back!" haha...

If I am filming a video for a chinese company, I thought it would be more respectful to do a slight bow when I say hello

The lady in the video might not carried out any longer within her family or her inner circle of friends.
So This video is not accurate.
